Yes I fully support this idea. It would bring a great sense of community and added banter as Gaeilge.

Do you actually gather somewhere like a group on Skype/TeamSpeak etc?
I don't mean to be rude at all, but this can't be the only feature suggestion with those kind of replies. There is an abundance on many posts both passed and stagnant.Stefan wrote:
it's kinda unnecessary to leave posts like "pl0x" and "I agree".
True, which many do. But showing is still showing support, even if it is a half assed comment. A #Irish chat would be beneficial for the education of Irish players, who dedicate much time to osu and still must work for exam results. Having an outlet for subconscious Irish revision would be perfect, both for raising the community standards among Irish players and bringing fun to the use of the Irish languge.Stefan wrote:
Instead, make some suggestions and/or leave more reasons why you need it.
This is the reason behind everyone wanting an #irish channel.Mahogany wrote:
As it stands currently, it's not easy to become involved in the Irish osu community. While we do have at least one that's running right now via a skype group, it's very difficult to find people who are interested in participating in said community, and most of the group are only the higher-ranked players. It's difficult if nigh impossible for someone to get into the group without knowing a current member.
I think part of the intention behind the creation of an #Irish group would help those who are interested in discussing the game and meeting up with others of the same nationality, as well as speaking the Irish language, find each other.
Personally, when I was new to the game, I had no way of interacting with others from my country without seeming like a creep. My only option was to directly message someone, and hope they cared enough to respond. I only started to be a part of the Irish community when I gained a high enough rank, and started to get noticed by others.
I think an #Irish channel would help said newer players find a niche in the community they could fit into, instead of being forced to keep to themselves, like I was.

Is #videogames a language now?Zallius wrote:

Understood, but this would be a sole requirement for the channel rather than a community of players from Ireland. We would need an indication that there are a significant number of speakers of traditional language speakers for this to happen.

Get more people that speak the language to provide their vote in this thread, and star it!
My point was being made in response to the opening posts, to confirm that language specific channels are not community group for those who live in a certain country. The requirement for us to justify opening a language channel is that we have a large enough collection of players that speak the actual language to justify operating and moderating the channel.
I'll tell you why in a few points:Tiensei wrote:
What purpose does the #English channel serve if the English speaking community already has the #osu channel to use?
There's a first for everything though, right? I don't see how fostering some smaller national communities would be a problem, especially given that something as importantly-named as the "osu! world cup" is based on countries, and not, say, individually-made teams.Zallius wrote:
4. We're not trying to have a deliberate stab at minority groups here. If you want more proof, we've never made an #Australian channel eitherTiensei wrote:

Aborigines exist, you know. They too have their own language.Aiona wrote:

Yeah I get what you meant, but your sentence made it sound like you were ignorant of aborinies.Aiona wrote:
But I'm talking about a language being used widely, apart from English, there isn't any from there, not that it means anything.
