I can't even see how that series could be done better in manga format as long as it keeps the same atmosphere calling bs.

It's a lazy unoriginal harem anime that only existed to fill a hole in a tv schedule. Sadly weebs seem to lose all sense of quality where cute school girls are concerned.
dunno about lazy or unoriginal, it stood out as one of the best harem animes out of all the ones i've seen
I've seen your recommended anime, I think you hold a low standard of entry.
Hmm, imo harem is a weak genre and Saekano's generic plot doesn't really make it at least good. Then when you add a bland MC along with the ever present voice of Matsuoka Yo-shit-sugu to the mix... I don't know what to expect

Harem literally poisons the genre well, if you remove harem from Saekano you essentially get Sakurasou; a much better anime. The best harems don't even compete with the best romances and while you could construe Toradora or Clannad as a harem they separate themselves by making it very evident who the girl will be and building that relationship rather than just lollygaging around. Three or more love interests just crowds a series.Navizel wrote:

I don't really hate the genre. The main issue for me is plethora of harem are getting adapted every year and most of them are not even trying to stand out. Most are just fine with themselves being generic and mediocre. Not only they have subpar plots but they also have very generic and bland characters. If those weren't enough reasons to get turned off on the genre they will add horrible music which doesn't bring anything new to the table. I agree that there are good harem shows though. Even still, I think I would rather read a visual novel than watch a harem anime.

Gatchaman Crowds is also nice. Starting to watch it.
