Hi! From my forum NM/M4M taiko queue.
I am pretty thorough, so don't be annoyed if I point out a lot of issues. A lot of times they are just my opinions, so feel free to object to them. :3
I look at mainly composing: how you map the music. Not just the drums; the vocals, background synth, the symphonic backing, the pauses; everything. But especially vocals.
I also look at pattern repetition and consistency, and how you fit in your 1/4 runs.
d = don
k = katsu
D = big don
K = big katsu
[General]
Difficulty curve spikes at oni. Suggest making a easier Oni at 4 point something stars and renaming this current Oni as Inner Oni.
Gonna mod Muzukashii and Futsuu, Oni is above my skill level and I don't have the experience to understand what contributes to the flow for this difficulty.
[Futsuu]
00:09:091 (31,32) - change both to d, as it matches the entry of the bass drum kick
00:11:791 (40) - maybe change this to K? The current ddkk pattern is a bit monotonous imo, would be better if you could vary it up a bit someway
00:18:091 (61) - remove would match the music
00:19:591 (67) - change to d, match 00:24:391 (85), 00:29:191 (103) and 00:33:991 (121) for consistency (or the other way round, up to you)
00:45:691 - add timing section from here to 00:47:491 , decrease hitsound volume
00:52:891 (19,20,21,22,23,24) - I prefer these as ddk for consistency with 00:48:091 (7,8,9,10,11,12)
01:02:341 - add d here to match the synth (if you feel that the difficulty is too great, you might want to move 01:02:116 (43) forward 1/4 instead)
01:11:941 - ^
01:26:491 (94,95,96,97,98,99,100,101) - maybe reverse these? K would match synth high pitch as well as provide cymbals hitsound, and d would match bass drum kick
01:39:541 - see 01:02:341, here in particular this particular pattern really breaks the flow
01:40:741 - same thing goes for all similar patterns in this segment
01:57:391 (62) - this slider/roll can't provide the emphasis for the onbeat at 01:57:691, consider recomposing
02:32:491 (17,18,19,20) - change to ddkk, match vocals
02:49:891 (61,62,63) - change to dkd, match synth high pitch
03:08:941 (10) - change to k to differentiate this from the previous phrase, as well as match vocals (somewhat)
03:15:541 - see 01:39:541, same thing goes for all similar patterns in this segment
03:33:391 (64) - change to K? would provide emphasis for the vocal whoop
03:52:441 (126) - see 01:57:391
03:52:891 - from here on out these same patterns become kinda repetitive, I would suggest modifying them in some way to make it less so
04:12:391 (189) - see 00:19:591
04:42:091 (295) - change to k, match subsequent patterns
04:46:891 (311) - ^
04:50:341 (324) - change to a slider/roll of the same length? The music doesn't fade out, I feel like the "buzz" sounds would be mapped better with a slider, seeing as how they're played in Taikosu
[Muzukashii]
I feel like a lack of consistency is an issue here. A lot of your patterns don't repeat or are just mixed and matched in sorta randomly. :/
00:05:041 (14) - move to 00:04:741 to match bass drum kick
00:09:841 (32) - change to d to match 00:11:041 (40) for consistency
00:16:891 (76) - remove and extend slider/roll to here?
00:18:991 (81) - change to K would add an extra emphasis on the vocal whoop
00:27:991 (127) - change to k? I don't feel like having a D here would emphasize anything in the music, and k would match vocals
00:30:091 (139,140) - change to d k, match onbeat d offbeat k pattern
00:36:091 - this run doesn't really match the music/vocals, I would change it from this
to this
00:57:391 (53) - change to k, match synth pitch
00:57:691 (54) - change to a slider with 4/1 length?
01:04:141 (83) - change to k for consistency with 01:02:941 (77)
01:04:891 (88) - change to d for consistency with 01:03:691 (81)
01:06:991 (101) - change to k, match synth pitch
01:16:891 (143,147,152,156,161,165,170,175,180,184,189,194) - change these all to K?
01:31:291 (200,202,204,206) - these as well, change to K?
01:35:791 - shorten that slider/roll to here, match drums
01:42:541 (25) - change to k, add emphasis to synth
02:09:841 (182) - delete, shorten this particular run (given that the other runs are much shorter in this section of the song)
02:16:291 (219,222) - change to k, match vocals
02:16:891 (1) - this is just lazy imo =="
02:33:841 - add d, match bass drum kick
02:45:991 (95) - change to d, match 02:47:191 (100) and 02:48:391 (106) for consistency
02:52:291 (127,128,129,130,131,132) - change to ddk d k d, for consistency with previous measure
02:55:291 - shorten this slider/roll and add D here for emphasis
02:58:741 (159) - change to k, match vocal's high pitch
03:13:291 - maybe shorten this spinner and start mapping the more complex drum pattern here?
03:33:691 - shorten this spinner, and add D here for emphasis
04:20:341 - add d/k here to match vocals
04:24:691 - this run doesn't really match the music/vocals, I would change it from this:
to this
04:50:491 (1) - see Futsuu

And also, after looking through my mod, would you mind taking the time to check out
my taiko set? <3
There you go! Hope you find this mod helpful, and good luck beatmapping!
