... can actually play the DVD that I made using a DVD Recorder? It must have screenshot capability and the ability to seek the timeline.

For some odd reason, WMP cannot seek the timeline for my video, and furthermore WMP does not have screenshotting or shit. All of the DVD Player Softwares I'm finding somehow cannot handle my DVD properly.

Worse, GOM Player seems to keep crashing when it tries to open my DVD. I suddenly lost hope, for I always, I mean always, used GOM Player to read the DVD used with the DVD-Recorder before... >_<

EDIT: Okay, so I got GOM player to play my DVD again, but one of my main problems still remain: I cannot use the freaking seekbar. If there's something else that can do this, PLEASE tell me...! This is horribly annoying me to death!

Just in case you don't know what I'm talking about...

1.) So I'm playing the vid and it's in the 52nd second now.

2.) I try to click much later in the timeline:

3.) But then the timeline just returns to the 52nd second and no advancements or anything:

Mother freaking damn it!

@aquabluu: yes I am totally not ripping images by recording them with a DVD Recorder first

For some odd reason google isn't loading properly thanks to my internet provider. And I'm ironically using Chrome.

EDIT: wait, you mean Media Player Classic? Still not working for me :/ Seekbar isn't working too.

Zoomplayer can be a little "hard" (not really once you get used to it) to navigate sometimes, but it plays everything very very neat. get the MAX version, it's a trial but it lasts pretty long.

Just get MPC. It's the most badass video player software atm. It plays DVDs, as well as pretty much any type of video, provided you get CCCP as well. To be honest, I'm surprised you don't already have it, since it's the weeaboo player of choice.

CCCP is the best bet, played every DVD I've thrown at it.

And if you're feeling adventurous get the latest beta build
http://www.cccp-project.net/beta/

Haven't had any issues with it, and the current stable is from cirno day...

I actually HAVE MPC, can play my DVD on it fine, it's just that I cannot get the freaking seekbar to work, much like what's happening in GOM Player
mekadon_old
Just dump every codec and integrate in MPC. Seekbars might work for me

You sure its not the DVD thing you made being crappy? It even plays the .m2ts files from BluRays for me with no problems.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure this is not the player's fault. There isn't some sort of magical player that will play anything you throw at it.

Actually I'm beginning to find it weird after doing a few messings around with the DVD files.

I try to use one of my video players to open the .VOBs instead of the .IFOs, and I find it weird that there are only 10 .VOBs all in all, but there are actually 13 titles currently in the DVD. I tried opening one, for example, VTS_01_01.vob or something like that, and it was really odd how the first half of the video was Title 01, while the second half of the video was the supposed Title 08. I'm thinking what my DVD-Recorder does, then, is actually doing some sort unnatural linking to the .VOBs in such a way that only specialized players can read them with the correct timeline or something. It's odd, since so far MPC and GOM and even WMP can actually read how long the titles are, but just can't seek them.

Haven't tried the other softwares recommended here yet, and I forgot to install CCCP. Will try again later and report progress.

EDIT: Before I forget, I'm actually tempted to just rip the titles using DVDx, but I just can't find the option to rip it with Uncompressed quality... :/

EDIT2: strager freaking wins. smplayer is right now the first software that has been able to seek my DVD properly. There seems to be problems with its playback though, but I'll find out eventually later how to fix those; main problem right now is that the video is appearing to have been compressed to bilinear or something... look it's appearing so... liney when you pause on motion... also lol can't get screenshot, haha.

EDIT3: Ah w/e I'll just try and use everything I can... looks like GOM can move by frames, but can't freaking move back wtf, but at least it's appearing less-liney than smplayer. Gonna try out everything that's here, and if they prove to be less efficient than GOM, I'm sticking to GOM and smplayer

EDIT4: OK this is freaking annoying. VLC can also play my DVDs and seek the titles well, but like smplayer, the video quality is appearing too liney on motion, but not as liney as smplayer. Going to utilize this one too.

EDIT5: Since it looks like the liney aspect of the video is inevitable (it even appears on the freaking DVD-Recorder I used... even though I already recorded in HQ!), I'll just... blah, use everything I can from here. Thanks guys, you've been great help.

Try deinterlacing?

Hm, I set it to 'Discard', and so I'm stuck with having a harder time getting the frames, but at least I'm not getting liney screenshots! Timing the pause shouldn't be a problem. Thanks. I'm curious though if there's a better Deinterlacing type...?

EDIT: Errr wtf? The screenshots still appear as if they weren't Deinterlaced... :/

EDIT2: Oh crapshit. I don't know what the hell I installed, but all the screenshot capabilities of all of my video players aren't working anymore. If I try to press 'Print Screen' and paste the image on an image editting software, the video player can be seen but the picture is just a black whatever thingy, as if the video isn't there...

EDIT3: ...meh, never mind, it's just GOM being retarded... >_<

Deinterlacing is what I first thought of, followed by your renderer. Go to Preferences -> General -> Video and play with the output driver (D3D will work in most cases, and doesn't block Aero like most other drivers do) and deinterlace/PP settings.
