Synopsis : Hibike! Euphonium begins when Kumiko Oumae, a girl who was in the brass band club in junior high school, visits her high school's brass band club as a first year. Kumiko's classmates Hazuki and Sapphire decide to join the club, but Kumiko sees her old classmate Reina there and hesitates. She remembers an incident she had with Reina at a brass band club contest in junior high school.


I've watched both episodes and they're seems really good to me. Some says it's like K-ON because of the same story/plot. What do you guys think?

eh doesn't appeal as much as kyoani's other recent works: k-on, chuunibyou, amagi park, beyond the boundary, etc.

also kyoani shows usually have a bombass opening or ending song to map, but i'm not too motivated to do these

Yeah, that was my first impression when watching the ep. 1. But, when the ep. 2 aired, it goes a little bit interesting of the plot that presents.
Also agrees that both of OP & ED doesn't feel catchy to me. xD
Well, anyhow, let's just wait and see if KyoAni made something magic if they know how to tackle audiences. :D

I think setting was the word they were looking for.

Really at this point the humour that made the best KyoAni show their best is completely absent and the series looks like it will be mellow in terms of drama.

I kinda disagree that it's absent in humor that some scenes made me laugh. Maybe it's just me though(?)
But yeah, overall, kinda mellow on the first impression. :/

I still find the series to be incredibly boring. Atleast this episode hinted at what could come.

That's why it's called, slice of life. :P

Anyway, I do enjoy this episode because of the drama plot that it presents but some parts like "how to play this instrument" thing that gets me bored actually. maybe that's why you're bored?

Hopefully they resolve on it's way on the next episode. ~

I'm bored because the characters in no way interest me, I don't care about what they do or what happens to them at all.
I find even the fact that their characters have the interest (In brass band) to join the club unconvincing.

It does seem a bit uninteresting right now. The main characters feel like they're not taking the brass band too seriously.

I do hope this anime gets better later on. I had high hopes for this. It feels like one of KyoAni's least impressive productions to date. :(

The show is generally uninteresting right now. The club setting with cute grills only works when there's a cheery/ upbeat mood. The main character is definitely not someone who fits that mood. She's way too into her thoughts for my liking.
I like my moe with no complex thought process.

Yup, the episode seems to have a better plot for now. I didn't expect the run training then playing scene though. Seems ridiculous but pretty reasonable. haha

Why? It's a letdown in terms of what I know KyoAni is capable of and in a ideal world how good something is should dictate how popular it is.

Exactly. I don't mind that this thread won't get popular or anything. Maybe it's not in popular in here but it's popular out there via social sites or popular Japanese blogs out there. ~

On-topic;

Overall, the plot story is now better than ever. The sunfest scene kinda make me remember back on my school times. Ah, good times. ~
Anyway, I see Kumiko and Kousaka are now getting closer which is reeeeally good for me. Also, that ending puzzles me though. haha
