Hi, here comes a taiko mod as requested by Genocide.

[General]

You may use normal default sampleset for all timing points. The current one is just too soft to be heard.

Tags conflict with all other diffs. Make sure that the tags are consistent with them.
  1. 00:05:293 (10) - delete and change 00:05:587 (11) - to k to follow the main melody solely ?
  2. 00:07:647 (15,16,17) - As the music here is nearly silent, these notes could be deleted to create a 4/1 break, which could reflect the pause of music nicely.
  3. 00:14:117 (27) - k would be better since it has the same pitch as 00:13:235 (26) -
  4. 00:14:411 (28) - this note could be deleted to break the pattern a bit. Four 1/2 notes in Futsuu are actually a bit harsh for such a calm song, so it should be used sparsely.
  5. 00:17:058 (34,35,36) - similar to 00:07:647 (15,16,17) - , these notes could be removed as well.
  6. 00:20:588 (43) - same as 00:14:411 (28) -
  7. 00:22:353 (48) - deleting this note could emphasize the neighbouring high-pitched piano at 00:22:058 (47,49) -
  8. 00:30:000 (61,62) - swapping these notes to k d could accompany the pitch drop well.
  9. 00:34:411 (69) - delete and change 00:34:705 (70) - to d to follow the piano ?
  10. 00:48:823 (94,95) - swapping these notes to d k could fit the increase in piano pitch nicely.
  11. 00:50:000 (96,97) - similar to 00:07:647 (15,16,17) - , these notes could be removed to give a break.
  12. 00:51:176 (98) - d would be better if you change ^
  13. 00:53:235 (102) - move to 00:52:353 - to follow the piano there.
  14. 00:55:882 (107,108,109) - d k k would reflect the pitch increase imo.
  15. 00:58:823 (113) - d would be cool while highlighting the pitch drop appropriately.
  16. 01:06:470 (126,127,128,129) - d k k d would follow the piano in a way better.
  17. 01:12:647 (137,138,139,140) - similar to ^ , try kd kk ?
  18. 01:16:176 (146,148) - d would suit the pitch drop there.
  19. 01:17:941 (1) - You may want a softer spinner at the end. Try to lower its volume to 30% ?
  • [Gen's Muzukashii]
  1. 00:07:353 (19) - d would be better because of the absence of high-pitched sound there.
  2. 00:15:294 (40) - consider deleting this note ? A bit unnecessary due to the lack of music support.
  3. 00:17:941 (47) - same as ^
  4. 00:19:117 (52,53,54) - change to d d k and delete 00:20:000 (55) - for pattern consistency ?
  5. 00:26:470 (71) - this note could be deleted to give a 2/1 break.
  6. 00:27:353 (73,75) - delete and change 00:27:647 (74) - to k if you change ^ for a smoother flow.
  7. 00:32:353 (89) - same as 00:15:294 (40) -
  8. 00:33:235 (92) - change to d and delete 00:34:117 (95) - . A bit crowded for the soft music there.
  9. 00:35:588 (101) - d would be better if you change ^ for coherence.
  10. 00:36:470 (104) - same as 00:15:294 (40) -
  11. 00:39:705 (112) - ^
  12. 00:52:353 (144,145) - d k would suit the pitch increase of the piano there.
  13. 00:55:882 (150,151,152) - same as Futsuu
  14. 01:04:411 (171) - deleting this note would result in a better focus on the main melody.
  15. 01:06:470 (175,176) - same as 00:52:353 (144,145) -
  16. 01:09:411 (182) - this note could be removed to shorten the 1/2 + 1/4 pattern a bit.
  17. 01:20:294 (1) - same as Futsuu

It is understandable that you did not reply the mods in Muzukashii due to the loss of reply mods. It would be better to explain why you rejected the mods next time, as this could be a bit impolite to modders.

Please reconsider the deletion suggestions like 00:07:647 (14,15,16) - and 00:17:058 (32,33,34) - in Futsuu. Currently the number of breaks (2/1 and 4/1) used is not enough. We can rarely find 2/1 breaks except at few places like 00:26:470 and 00:40:588 - only.

Concerning the Muzukashii, since the song is so calm, some 2/1 breaks would still be preferred, such as 00:26:470 (70) - . You may also decide some places for breaks by yourself. Otherwise, the mapping would become consecutive and we can hardly find any rest moments throughout the song.

You may call me again for a recheck after the addition of sufficient breaks.

I think the mentioned file is a 0-byte .wav file, right?

yes for blank hitsound, but 0 byte is impossible for a file... so 44 bytes is considerable

edit : my talk with lanturn end up with this

Did an IRC mod with Genocide. After making several changes, there are sufficient breaks in each difficulty, and the diff spread seems fine to me.

23:14 Genocide: ok irc mod
23:14 Genocide: can yoo irc mod atm?
23:14 Nardoxyribonucleic: wait a minute.
23:14 Genocide: okay
23:26 Genocide: lel afk
23:28 Nardoxyribonucleic: back. let's begin
23:29 Genocide: okay
23:31 Nardoxyribonucleic: 00:07:647 (14,15,16) - these notes could be deleted, or 00:08:823 (16) - at least. It would be good to leave a break since the music is soft and the piano is not loud compared with 00:06:764 (12) -
23:31 Genocide: 00:08:823 - deleted
23:34 Nardoxyribonucleic: 00:13:235 (25,26) - actually has the same pitch, except the chord-like sound. Since both sounds are high-pitched, I would still recommend k at 00:14:117 (26) -
23:35 Genocide: ok
23:36 Nardoxyribonucleic: 00:17:941 (34) - same case as 00:08:823 -
23:36 Genocide: 00:17:941 (33,34) - delete both
23:37 Nardoxyribonucleic: good.
23:38 Nardoxyribonucleic: 00:30:000 (57,58) - k d or k k would be better. The note at 00:30:000 (57) - has a higher pitch than the previous 00:29:117 (56) -
23:39 Genocide: nope. 00:30:000 (54) - has a more lower sound than 00:30:588 (55) -
23:40 Nardoxyribonucleic: well, 00:30:588 (58) - may have a louder piano, but it doesn't mean that it has a higher pitch
23:41 Nardoxyribonucleic: The pitch is in fact decreasing there, across 00:30:000 (57,58) -
23:41 Genocide: but, the sound is similar with 00:31:470 (57) -
23:41 Nardoxyribonucleic: which one is similar with the note?
23:41 Genocide: 00:31:470 -
23:42 Genocide: 00:30:000 - and 00:31:470 - are same
23:42 Nardoxyribonucleic: try comparing it by quickly play and pause the music at the respective points
23:43 Nardoxyribonucleic: you will find that the pitch at 00:30:000 (57) - is higher
23:43 Genocide: i played, the sound perfect for me
23:44 Nardoxyribonucleic: ok, I won't force you. This one is not that urgent
23:44 Genocide: xD
23:49 Nardoxyribonucleic: 00:53:235 (97) - moving this note to 00:52:353 - could follow the piano in a way better.
23:50 Genocide: done
23:54 Nardoxyribonucleic: 01:20:000 - you forgot to lower the volume of this timing point to 30%
23:54 Genocide: at here? 01:17:941 -
23:54 Nardoxyribonucleic: for both
23:54 Genocide: done
23:55 Nardoxyribonucleic: otherwise the spinner will have higher volume at the end
23:55 Genocide: what do you mea
23:55 Genocide: n
23:55 Nardoxyribonucleic: also, please use normal default sample at all timing points
23:55 Genocide: i did
23:56 Nardoxyribonucleic: if 30 to 40 -> the spinner will firstly has lower volume, then it will step up to 40%
23:56 Nardoxyribonucleic: which would be weird
23:56 Genocide: ok changed to 40
23:57 Nardoxyribonucleic: I mean both 30 >_>
23:57 Genocide: wtf >_>
23:57 Nardoxyribonucleic: A softer spinner would sound better, as said in my mod
23:57 Genocide: "if 30 to 40"
23:58 Nardoxyribonucleic: so there will be 3 possible alternative: 30 to 30, 40 to 30 and 40 to 40
23:58 Genocide: changed to 30 and normal -> soft
23:59 Genocide: 01:17:941 - 30% , 01:18:529 - 40% , 01:20:000 - 30%
23:59 Nardoxyribonucleic: what about the previous timing points? Did you change them to "N" but not "N:C1" ?
23:59 Genocide: no, i change it from S -> N
00:00 Nardoxyribonucleic: what I see in the uploaded version is http://puu.sh/gnxal.png
00:00 Genocide: best \:D/
00:00 Genocide: 404 errur
00:01 Nardoxyribonucleic: you can't load it? lol
00:01 Genocide: ye
00:01 Genocide: s
00:02 Nardoxyribonucleic: I assume you changed them to N then
00:02 Genocide: already change
00:02 Genocide: damn sleepy
00:03 Genocide: can we continue the mods?
00:03 Nardoxyribonucleic: That's all for Futsuu. Please change the same volume settings in Muzu before we go on
00:03 Genocide: changed lel

00:04 Nardoxyribonucleic: 00:07:353 (19) - d would be better as the piano is similar to 00:07:058 (18,20) -
00:04 Genocide: 00:07:353 (19) - i want to emphasis the sound
00:05 Nardoxyribonucleic: you may regard 00:07:058 (18,19,20,21) - as a group. If you want to emphasize the higher-pitched piano at 00:07:941 - , d d d k would be a better choice
00:06 Nardoxyribonucleic: since the pitch keeps increasing
00:07 Nardoxyribonucleic: 00:07:058 (18,19,20,21) - or d d k k if you like

00:07 Nardoxyribonucleic: ok.
00:09 Nardoxyribonucleic: 00:15:294 (40) - similar to the Futsuu cases, this note lacks background music support
00:09 Nardoxyribonucleic: so it is a bit redundant
00:10 Nardoxyribonucleic: would be better if you delete it
00:11 Genocide: lack?, i think its fine, since that don is fit with music
00:11 Nardoxyribonucleic: the problem is, the music is silent there

00:21 Nardoxyribonucleic: sure.

00:27 Genocide: 00:26:470 (69) - has a guitar sound :(
00:28 Nardoxyribonucleic: You have to sacrifice some sounds, since this is Muzukashii

  2. A few patterns were improved
  3. A couple of slight readability fixes
  4. A few hitsound fixes
  5. Rhythm was changed in some parts

13:15 Arcubin: i drop that and try another map ;3
13:15 Arcubin: it's quite a long time ago :3
13:15 -Bakari-: let me check a few things about taiko and we'll mod standard
13:16 -Bakari-: meanwhile, are you sure about the diffname Champion?
13:16 Arcubin: okay :)
13:16 Arcubin: yes... i use the diff name on the game
13:16 -Bakari-: I'd rather call it Advanced, since Champion is used for Insane/Insane+ diffs \w/
13:16 Arcubin: in game "normal=>hard=>very hard=>champion
13:16 Arcubin: so i just use that
13:17 Arcubin: :3 okay might change that

13:17 Arcubin: it's have decent reason to be changed
13:17 -Bakari-: Well, Advance or Hard would be a better name
13:18 Arcubin: changed to hard since it's a diff after normal
13:19 -Bakari-: well, Advanced is also a diff after Normal :P
13:19 -Bakari-: anyways, it's up to you
13:20 -Bakari-: I don't know much about taiko, but I think we can trust both Gen and the nominator who bubbled it \w/

13:37 -Bakari-: okay then :)
13:38 -Bakari-: 01:22:353 - the spinners are pretty similar in both modes
13:38 -Bakari-: either finish spinners in taiko on the blue ticks
13:38 -Bakari-: or extend them in standard to the white ticks
13:38 Arcubin: will finish them on blue tick
13:38 -Bakari-: nice decision
13:39 Arcubin: 00:55:000 (5,6,1) - i still can't make them right in the DS ;w;

13:46 Arcubin: i am also done here
13:47 -Bakari-: 00:03:235 (6) - maybe you should remove repeat from this slider as it follows practically nothing
13:48 Arcubin: okay... also re-snap DS 00:03:235 (6,1) -
13:48 -Bakari-: 00:07:941 (6) - 00:13:235 (6) - try to reduce volume of the tails. (probably we can use ~10-15% colume for these parts)
13:48 Arcubin: okay...
13:50 -Bakari-: do you want to keep 00:18:235 (1) - this one? It feels rather unnatural and the change is too sudden/strong
13:50 Arcubin: 00:18:676 - maybe i should increase this to 10%?
13:50 -Bakari-: I would use x0.8
13:50 Arcubin: ...
13:50 Arcubin: i'll keep it
13:51 Arcubin: wait.. changed to 0.8
13:51 Arcubin: i think it's too heavy too :3
13:51 -Bakari-: Nice :)
13:51 -Bakari-: as for the volume, you can leave it or set to 10%
13:51 -Bakari-: it's okay either way
13:52 Arcubin: inb4 hinsvar told me to 5-15%
13:52 Arcubin: i just use 5 anyway
13:52 Arcubin: but changed
13:53 -Bakari-: 00:35:588 (3) - you can place a circle at 00:35:882 - instead of the slider
13:53 -Bakari-: there is nothing on the red tick
13:53 -Bakari-: or you can have it another way http://puu.sh/grpLX.jpg
13:54 Arcubin: 00:18:235 (1) - http://puu.sh/grpMr.jpg DS 0.8 is it okay?
13:54 -Bakari-: 00:40:000 (5) - wow, such a strong note. probably it's a good idea to NC it? /// yes, 0,8 looks fine
13:54 Arcubin: 00:35:588 (3) - changed to circle instead
13:54 -Bakari-: don't worry, once you update the diff, I'll recheck everything
13:54 Arcubin: wait
13:55 -Bakari-: 00:44:705 (4) - unstack it a little more, to make it more readable \w/
13:55 Arcubin: 00:35:588 (3) - don't this slider tail following the guitar?
13:55 Arcubin: unstack them
13:56 -Bakari-: oh, it does. but the guitar is really quite and I couldn't even hear it at first
13:56 Arcubin: :3
13:57 -Bakari-: 00:36:764 (5) - kinda the same with this circle
13:57 -Bakari-: you can also remove that
13:57 -Bakari-: it will help you to stress the stronger music at 00:37:058 -
13:58 -Bakari-: 01:05:294 (6,1) - this overlap might appear a little untidy for players' eyes. mind changing that?
13:59 Arcubin: okay... flip the curve then
14:00 -Bakari-: 01:05:882 (1,2) - and them you might want to fix a little spacing mistake here
14:00 Arcubin: spacing mistake?
14:01 Arcubin: it's already 1 tho 3;
14:01 -Bakari-: oh, nvm. I accidentaly moved it :c
14:01 Arcubin: :C
14:01 Arcubin: okay..nvm D
14:02 -Bakari-: and one last thing, a circle at 01:19:705 - instea of the slider
14:02 Arcubin: so double circl?
14:02 -Bakari-: since the stronger beat is on the red tick, making it cllickable would be awesome
14:02 Arcubin: okay fixed

14:13 *-Bakari- is editing [http://osu.ppy.sh/b/624941 Kog - Theme Duel [Hard]]
14:13 -Bakari-: 00:25:882 (5) - maybe it should be an 1/1 slider instead
14:14 -Bakari-: since the revesrse arrow was a little overlapped with hitburst, I thought we should avoid it and turning this slider into a long one is the best thing I could think of
14:15 -Bakari-: 00:28:235 (1,3) - this overlap might also appear a little untidy. you can change it [http://puu.sh/grqKB.jpg this way]
14:16 -Bakari-: get these things fixed, update and we'll be ready

Circle / Metadata check

No any significant changes were made. I like the set and I believe it is ready, so, we'll pish it forward once the issue with spinners in taiko gets resolved.

Reason for Disqualification

  1. Disqualified for inappropriate taiko lables. Considering the BPM, current Taiko difficulties are an Oni and Muzukashii, not Muzukashii and Futsuu. Current Muzukashii for example contains ox / oxo / oox patterns bounded together with 1/2 patterns. Due to the BPM (which is really calm) notes are snapped as 1/4 which are Oni like-patterns(Examples are patterns like 00:13:823 (34,35,36) - ) - so much easier taikos can be mapped for this song.

___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Additional Modding

[ Muzukashii]
  1. 00:13:823 (34,35,36) - This has been discussed and maybe it might be better to remove. It can be kept, but since there is no beat/note on 34 to start the triplet, it could feel weird to play to someone and lead to some accuracy break.

It's not much. So good luck on rerank!

Everything plays out fine. Not sure if you had Bakari planning on pushing this forward or not.

Artist: KOG
Makes more sense to use all capitalization since that's how the KOG/KOG' webpage is and even the picture from the metadata post has it.
http://www.kog.co.kr/

I honestly couldn't find anything about the title after searching for hours. It had a soundtrack, but the thing was a reward at some pvp tournament so it's impossible to find scans for or anything. going off of the mp3 file from the downloaded game: theme_duel.mp3 http://puu.sh/gzHsK.png The current seems like the most logical title to use, so it should be fine... Wiki says "Duel's Theme" as Duel/Void is a character in the game so it'd make sense, but there is no way to find this soundtrack so we can't really use the better title :(

Consider these volume settings at the start of the map on Normal/Hard. The whistles seem to be a bit loud imo for the beginning. Note that you'll have to adjust the other settings in Hard for this since you use some 10% volume slider ends.

On hard:
00:18:676 - is kind of a pointless SV decrease as it is on the end of the slider. Just use 0.75 here.

00:44:705 (4) - I feel like 00:45:294 - should be emphasized with a circle, instead of being on the tail end of a note. Try removing the reverse and adding a circle at 00:45:294 - It even gets a jumpy feeling if you are worried about DS.

Anyways, if Bakari wants to handle this then that's fine. otherwise you can call me back later.

Bakari is going to get this map back into qualified.
