One thing which I always found to be an important, albeit horribly frustrating aspect of osu! is failure. As opposed to the current system where you're simply presented with the classic fail sound, a slowdown, and the fail screen, something more encouraging should show up as well to lessen the degree of ragequits. An existing example of this I have in mind is the Team Fortress 2 death screens, which feature a quick statistic about how you either achieved or exceeded a previous record. In the case of osu!, the furthest a player has gotten into a map (percentage-wise), highest combo on the map, or highest accuracy on the map could be used. If all else fails, again like TF2, having some way of making the fail seem silly or ridiculous (they highlight parts of your character's gibbed body) could also make failures... more friendly. Just a thought to make the game a little less about tryharding and more about having fun.

I don't get it
So you want a result like screen to pop up after you fail to show how you perfomred?
A big no for me,
I barely fail, but I fail on purpose if I play badly (since retry takes a long time)
It'll take too mich time doing it
Sorry if I compltely misunderstood it,
I did not understand the "If all else fails"
What do you mean with that?

Sometimes the discrepancy between a PB and the achieved stats is so great that it would be more discouraging to look at the stats than seeing nothing at all.

Why would you want that that just takes extra time ._.
Even tho I always press escape when I fail so I never notice the slowdown.

I'm not sure if the stats you want would do what you expect - fails tend to happen in the same couple of spots on a map, so you would probably end most fail plays with pretty similar completion percentage and accuracy (and maybe combo, depending on how consistent you are) and just constantly match your personal bests. It might be nice to be able to see some sort of stats when failing, but I'm not sure what would be good for that. Something like miss count would be misleading since you didn't finish the play (and the game automatically gives you a few misses in most cases after you fail). Accuracy you can already see (and has the same problem with the automatically missed notes), score you can already see. Combo, I guess would be nice? Dunno.
