I'm usually not a fan of 'murrican engineering, but Iowa completely outclasses Yamato in most aspects, aside from armour and armament. Yes, I mean sure, having a huge 400 mil belt is going to save you from most torpedo runs and your guns fire bloody planets at other ships, but your speed is so fucking shit and your deck is so wide (if I'm not mistaken, one or two of those have been converted to CVs) that you're practically screaming "Yoooo mates, drop thy 3000 kilo bombs 'ere!". Apart from that, Iowa had an absolutely monstrous operational range (Yamato's was shorter by almost 4k kilometers) and Yamato's citadel placement was so shit, that if you actually penetrated the hull from above, boom goes the entire fucking ship. :V

I'm not a big strategy and military nerd but for some reason I got into the gameplay because it looked really cool. I wouldn't probably play with you due to our distance but I'd really look forward to it

Well, you don't really need to be a strategist to play Wargaming's products, actually, you'd have to be the opposite and turn your brain off, because the community that developed around WG's games is so cancerous that you'd need blood pressure medication after playing 5 matches in any of their games. It seriously makes me wonder how people even breathe if they can't move their mouse to the bloody left and press left click to shoot the idiotic target next to them.

However, it does help being nerdy in those games, as even if they most DEFINITELY aren't historical at all, it helps knowing that you probably should shoot the poor Tiger and Tiger Porsche in the arse, as they had outright horrendous engines, and shit like that.

Carriers aren't sexy at all mate, all blocky 'n' shit. :V

Why all the love for ships, though? What about submarines? I've always had a thing for German subs, especially U-404... the bugger even sank a Yugoslavian (Serbian) ship, and it went down fighting, unlike most other subs.

Sadly, 'murricans have a rather shit taste in sub designs, Russians were so screwed after the fall of the Soviet Union that they still don't have any presentable sub that could counter 'murricans ( one could safely assume they have some badass multi-purpose attack sub design that could destroy half the planet, but alas, Russians never had a thing for showing-off in media, unlike the 'murricans), and I'm deeply disturbed that Germany also stopped producing their lovely and sexy unique subs after the loss in WW2.
If I wanted Germany to win for any particular reason back then, it would be their fucking badass designs. Sure, their tanks and airplanes were wonders of engineering, but they were ultimately utter fucking shit due to both the cost and the complexity, while their subs were both functional, cheap AND kicked the poor British around like babies. :D

Well, everyone has their own taste, no?

One thing I usually adore doing is roleplay while playing any game involving subs. It's also doable with an aircraft, but meh, I can't really feel the vibe I'm feeling when looking at a sub. Tanks and ships are definitely a no, because well.... most games already have built-in crew voices, which screw the immersion up so badly that I just have to settle for listening to music while driving them, if I'm not playing with other people.

Subs, on the other hand, are perfect for immersion and letting my imagination run wild. I can listen to Wagner for hours while sneaking around and sinking ships, or just plain look at the lovely design and pretend to be a commander, because even I need a break from all the idiocy of this world, and just let my inner child out.

No no no, it's not that I don't particularly dislike any one of those, but (like I mentioned in that post), when I need my relax-and-enjoy time, I'm not in the mood for them, but rather the subs.

There actually were a very limited number of occasions where I was able to play tanks while listening to Maksim Mrvica and recuperate my brain to its full memorising capacity, but on a regular basis? Nah, not possible.

people still play skyrim? damn. i played that game quite a lot - never enjoyed it once. the game has so much potential, but everytime it just shits on your face. and for some reason you go on, hoping that in the next area things will become fun. but they never do. it just keeps unloading their fury on your face. 4/10 would not recommend.

I don't know what you mean. Skyrim is a greats game. The biggest problem is not being able to play above 60fps because of physics issues (yeah, fuck dumbing down the game through catering to casual console peasants)

60fps is Skyrim and the cursor is feels laggy (which is something I really despise, that's why I bought a $600 GPU and still run most game on low...). Above that and it's completely responsive but buggy as hell. And since the game uses V-sync to control fps, it will be broken by default if you have a high refresh rate monitor and you have to do a lot of file tweaking to cap the fps.

The cursor feels laggy because of vsync, not because it runs at 60fps. It doesn't take a lot of file tweaking to fix this problem, just editing one little line in SkyrimPrefs.ini.
If you can be bothered to take 5 seconds to googe "fix skyrim laggy cursor", the first link describes how, even.

It just feels like a big, giant, epic world that lacks the most important element (for me) when it comes to RPGs. Character. There's litteraly not a single person in the entire realm of skyrim of which I can recall the name other than Ulfric because his name is in the one song that keeps going on and on and on and on in every single bloody inn I enter. I have tried to enjoy the game. But the story is weak, quests are weak, characters are weak. It just feels so weak. I think the witcher 2 just ruined skyrim for me. Even though the witcher had a lot of problems, probably more than skyrim, it had character. The quests meant something, you meant something. Everything you did changed everything around you. I don't have that in skyrim. I feel more like a tourist than an actual bloody dragonborn at times.

You think I didn't try that? I'm just remembering vague details of what happened since I've uninstalled Skyrim since then and it was a long time ago.

The fun part for me is the combat and making my character more powerful. The quests and characters are fairly weak, but you can use your imagination and roleplay to add depth to the shallow storyline. Personally I don't like RPG's where there's already have a predefined MC. You should try Morrowind, that was a lot more immersive, you actually had an effect on the world; it was the greatest thing to start as an 'outlander' where you were inherently disliked to being recognised as the reincarnated Nerevarine, basically the hero of Morrowind.

RPGs were fun when I was younger and had time, now they aren't, because they're all inherently just massive time sponges, regardless of the game itself.
I really pity those who actually took Skyrim as some kind of serious RPG, because like Glad said - it lacks everything that defines a good RPG, so the only thing you should do in it is play for shits and giggles. I'd also just add something which no one really seemed to have noticed in it - the fucking stupid as shit AI. The combat boils down to you either overpowering them so much that they can't do jack shit against you, or you exploiting their stupidity to beat them, I mean just look at the dragons and tell me they're "challenging". They're meant to pose a serious threat to you, so you can feel the story better, but all it boils down to is "lemme fly in a circle for 5 mins, and then come down so the MC can hit me better, since he obviously can't aim for shit and requires special help".

Skyrim is a proper role playing game, it's an open world where you are free to do whatever you want and roleplay however you want. The AI is stupid and you can easily make overpowered characters, this is so casual players can have fun with their god characters. But if you take care not to exploit the game or AI, the combat is very fun and challenging. Try being low level wood elf with just a sword and bow and trying to clear a bandit dungeon on Legendary difficult. The bandit leader can kill you in one to two hits and it takes you 100+ hits to kill him with a steel sword. Takes a bit of footwork.

I never said Skyrim wasn't an RPG - it just wasn't a very good one.
Also, our opinions on this may differ (it's purely subjective), but as someone who usually likes playing strategy games, I think that the AI should actually get "smarter" (the developers should work a bit more on it, as there is no excuse not to, especially when they're getting showered with money) as you up the difficulty, and not just get retarded bonuses to compensate for its stupidity. Now, it's mildly retarded if the AI can two-shot you, while you have to hit it 250 times with the same bloody bow and same arrows or with the same sword, just because it isn't "intelligent" enough to think of an optimal solution of how to counter you.
That would, of course, raise yet another problem - the combat itself is as flat as a 5 year-old girl's chest. Sure, you can't expect THAT much out of it, but why not? Why not just make it so that you have to think before you engage, just like in chess? It doesn't matter which direction you engage from, or what you hit, or even where you hit or with what you hit... it's just x amount of damage to that guy. Sneaking was supposed to add a layer of combat to actually make it feel more vibrant, but nope, it's also broken as shit. "Oh, someone just hit me in the fucking head with an arrow.... must be my imagination."
