Ive wanted to get into mania for awhile, but since I switched computers, my new osu client doesnt have any piano sounds. instead its the drum sounds and whistle from regular osu. This is honestly ruining it for me. Is there any way to fix this?

Not every map uses piano hitsounds. You could have played a mania map previously which did use piano hitsounds, and now you're playing different maps which are using different hitsounds. Or the skin you had before maybe had hitsound overrides. Or you're using hitsound overrides now and weren't before. Can't tell exactly without more details.

Disable "ignore beatmap's custom hitsounds" in the options

I mean these are songs made for mania, so they should have the piano sounds. I tried playing the song I played when I first played mania and that one only had the whistle clap sounds too. I tired fiddling around with the options and using different skins but it all seems the same. should I try uninstalling and reinstalling or something?

Mania notecharts are not necessarily full-keysounded.

But for alot of these songs I know they should have key sounds because I've seen friends play them right next to me.

Then you're not playing the right ones.
There is very little keysounded maps in osu!mania and it's nothing about you switching computers.

Sure you haven't got this ticked? (Check it when a beatmap is about to start, scroll bar at the bottom)
Other than that I'm not really sure.

Make sure your Effect volume isn't muted.

I can confirm the beatmap https://osu.ppy.sh/s/85930 does have piano hitnotes. It will be your settings.
