I was wondering what everyone would think of an IRC channel dedicated to pp and other gameplay-specific discussion. I've talked to several people in private about pp, all of which are really interested in coming up with ways to make pp more accurate or desirable for everyone, but the communication is pretty broken when it's forced to be done on the forums, since I've noticed that when, for example, talking about pp with Drezi in pm for like 30 minutes resulted in way more productive ideas and conclusions than a day of posting on the forums. I figured that if this could all happen in a dedicated channel, it might be easier to involve users and encourage productivity, and will probably lead to some pretty neat things in the future. On top of that, users would have a more accessible place to ask general gameplay questions such as "how do i stream faster" "what's the best way to configure my tablet" etc.

tl;dr osu! needs a #gameplay channel because of things and stuff

I think it's better to make a more general channel, like #gameplay

why? because most ppl will only chat such things as " how to gain more pp" or " how to farm pp " or " how to play like thelewa so much pp dayyum " thus making it quite useless too. so It's better to make a more general channel like #gameplay

That's a good idea, adding

How about make talking about anything exept that forbidden in osu. People can use the # ctb osumania taiko videogames help modhelp minecraft lobby and most importantly english channel for literally everything else than this.

Only thing would need to be changed are some !faqs

Do you mean that only pp/gameplay discussion should be allowed in that channel?
Because if so then I agree. Topicality should probably be enforced to some degree.

If by "that channel" you mean #osu not the #gameplay channel because i am against creating that channel compleatly. For me it would just make no sense that to talk about the most relevant thing there ever is, you should be made to go to different channel than the one with the name of the game in it.
What would make sense that you talk about osu! The game in the channel #osu and enforce the rule that nothing else is talked about in there.

To further develop this idea i think that maybe #english should be the "default channel" of the game that opens up when you log in for the first time. This could help with the issue that some people think that you can talk with other languages there.

Okay but if you look at this thread t/264629 you'll see that it's not as simple as "lol get on topic XD"

If you were to enforce topicality on #osu you'd also need an offtopic channel
It'd be the exact same as making a dedicated channel to gameplay and pp discussion except the dedicated channel option is more efficient
It doesn't make sense not to talk about gameplay in #osu, no, but that's just how it is. It's better to deal with it properly than just sit around going "things should be different !!!! >:("

<BanchoBot> #osu is for talking about osu!. Please discuss gameplay there, not in this channel.

But if you realize that's exactly what #osu is for

Things aren't always used as they were intended to be used
Isn't it obvious that discussion of this stuff in #osu would just get drowned out by lol LoL and LOL XD?

If i were to describe things, osu! is like GD forum. you keep telling ppl to not discuss about osu! there, but ppl keep discussing about it.

when #gameplay , imo wil represents G&R subforum
