Imo we NEED a new hitsound
Why?
There are claps, for every other beat
Finishes, for the BOOMM sounds
Whistle, for just doing it
But, what if this is not enough
For example, many maps feature a beat sound, a clap sound and a finish
But the you can use the 'Whistle' for this
Yes, but then you can't use the whistle sound anymore
I you don't get what I mean, go to tutuhaha's map (EZFG-Hurting for a very hurtful pain)
There are whistles IIRC
There are finishes
There are beats
But where are the claps?

You see, we need 4 hitsounds, just because of this (happens on nearly evry map if you listen)
I think the sample used in tutuhaha's map is great for this, but idk about copyright
Drafura
Wouldn't hurt...

Factorial
Btw, you can add custom sample-sets:
normal-hitnormal1, -2, etc...

So you want to add over 500 EXTRA lines in the .osu for this?
Everybody Always says that you should use as little lines in there as possible, and these extra sounds, as you then also need a full sperad for the 'new' one would take more space
Not even starting to think about how long it would take to set all those timing points
NC:1
NC:2
NC:1
NC:2
SC:1
SC:2
NC:1
Instead of
NC:1
SC:1
NC:1

The latter one will take less time, less space, and it the thing I request

A map takes its time if you put effort into it. That "problem" won't be solved with a single hitsound addition in a set.
Who exactly says to put as less green lines as possible anyway? That depends on the song: Many green lines are necessary when the music involves rapid rhythm/volume changes whilst there won't be needed many on an easy and constant rhythm.
Now I wonder what the 4th hitsound should be exactly for. It's easier to keep this as simple as it is now (and adding custom sounds when needed). If you think that's too hard start with some easier rhythm and get used to it slowly.

I see nothing wrong in the current Hitsound selection we have.

Let me explain it a little better
Most maps, have 4 hitsounds in the song
A Clap, every 2nd beat --> Clap --> 1
A soft whistle/soft finish sound, every red tick --> Whistle --> 2
A Hard Finish sound, most likely every 1st Big white tick --> Finish --> 3
A beat, every beat, or every 1st/3rd, so beat/clap/ceat/clap --> Beat --> 4
You can alternate Beat/Clap by using Normal Custom:1, Normal Custom:2, Normal Custom:1, Normal Custom:2, but this takes up too much space in the .osu
Some other maps can use this is there are drumrolls present
Going for Finish (When present), Clap, every 2nd/4th, Beat, every 1st/3rd beat, and use the whistle for the drumroll
I think this will make people go for hitsounding more, as it does not discourage them, when they see they have to do the predescribed thing anymore, with the NC:1 and the NC:2
It's not really neccessary, as the goal of it self can be achieved in an other way, but that way takes too much time, and thus of that fact gets annoying to do.

Veteran mappers uses many green lines as they can deal with this...
And beginners uses few for simpicity (also on most easier maps)
The fourth hitsound will only halve the lines needed.
The drum-hitsound will take on extra too.

Why would it just halve?

Will all become N
It would 1/8 orso
Also, what do you mean with drum will take on extra too?
happy30

You have 9 slots for hitsounds without using green lines
please start using this feature?

Oh
Forgot about that
But then if you set that to drum, the whistle/clap/finish on that part will also go to drum
You can help this by copying the finish/whistle/clap hitsounds and change to drum hitsounds, but that takes more space
And I once read that filesize must be as low as possible, for the server
Idk if it's true though
happy30
No, it doesn't work that way.
The sampleset (normal-hitnormal) and additions (clap, finish, whistle) can be used seperated by this feature.

Ohh
That's what additions meant
Ok
But I still want a 4th hitsound, for maps like Hurting for a very hurtful pain (listen to hitsounds, for better explanation)
But if more people disagree, you can mark as invalid
theramdans
Well, we already have 4
hitnormal
hitclap
hitwhistle
hitfinish
and it is sufficient imo
deadbeat
i think happy30 sums this one up nicely.
