Probably because osu! was an "emulator of " osu on ds, and ds uses the pen

dunno if he invented it, but Lesjuh was definitely the first one who showed the possibilities of the tablet (for all you young ones who don't know crap about old players: Lesjuh was among the best in 2008, the best in 2009 together with ShaggoN and fced/passed some of the insanely hard maps of 2011/2012 with ease before ceasing competition in early 2012).

I remember thinking it was a ''cool way'' to play osu! when Lesjuh said he played like that.

Some people went "Oh, I have this tablet thing, I wonder how it works with osu! since it's based off of a DS game?" and yeah.
thelewa II had the brilliant idea to play osu! with tablet. end of story
