Is Osu Psychological

Hello guys. Today I had an interesting conversation and I want to know what you guys think of it. I was talking to my friend, a fellow osu player, and was telling him how I need to practice in order to get better at playing a song I've been failing.

He tells me it's all in my head; that it's psychological, and that I'm telling myself that I can't do it. He's telling me that's the reason why I'm failing. I told him I'm just not good enough and it has nothing to do with what I think of myself but he argues the opposite telling me I need to train my mind to get better at osu which to me makes no sense.

What do you guys think? how exactly do I train my mind for osu? I honestly think I just need to practice and it has nothing to do with my psychological state of mind, but then again, I could be wrong.

Your state of mind is always a factor with everything you do, including playing a video game like osu!

Though I percieve it to be the icing on the cake. After feeling zen and a good cup of coffee I'm ready to FC the shit out of some anime openings, though it's not that state of mind that will give me the FC. It will be my overal skill in the game that will do the most work. It'll just be my state of mind which will help me maintain my focus and in the end reward me with that FC on that obnoxious K-ON! opening I could never achieve before.

This is true.
Once you're used to anything you do, you probably can play this game easily lol.

I think your friend's right, halfway.

It's true that your must confident that "you can do it," but it sometimes over your hands' limit. A physical training is also required to pass each and each songs.
But most of all, you must have both well body and mind. These skills are like a jigsaw puzzle that you can't lost any pieces of them. :)

Practicing trains both your hands and your mind so don't worry about it.

Its only normal that you put mental restrictions to yourself as regards skill. It is true that your brain may simply tell you you cant do a certain map because you ended up jammed with it. I can tell you it is a bit of mind and skill, so just go on to other songs and go back when ur skills and mind are refreshed and you´ll certainly pass it

You will get used naturally after playing a lot......
With practicing you'll have a better reflex 8-)

Typically your physical limit is beyond your mental limit in most cases. This is because the majority of people aren't confident enough (even if they think they are) to really push their bodies to the physical limit which is caused by the fact that you may THINK you are at your physical limit although you really aren't.

An example of this is Remote Control. I have had some "pro" player tell me they can't do the jumps and then a week later they have come back and said "wow I really can do those jumps." It's a matter of being able to cooperate with your mind to really push your body to it's real limit and not the supposed limit.
