Mappers usually set the hitsounds volume (by percentage) on the beatmap itself, not on the hitsounds we're using so it depends there.

Unfortunately, you can't do anything about the wallpaper ingame than darkening it with background dim.
You can also just replace the background image from the folder of the beatmap to another image with the same format.

with home wallpaper, i guess you mean the startscreen?

You can only change this when you got osu! supporter
this must be in .jpg extension. You can easily change it by just dragging a picture and dropping it in main menu window,
it will create/replace menu-bacground in you current skin.
If you have created picture of size 1366x768, it will be cut from left side at lower width resolutions.

You will also see it in options, multiplayer lobby, multiplayer match background and osu!direct background.

and for the ranking panel

i don't really know much about that, but i know its all explained in the tutorial

Tick the "Ignore Beatmap Skin" at skin option.

comboburst images are all left based, so if you put some writings there it will be inverted when it appears from the right

For some reason,part of the life gauge overlaps with the lanes
and the left frame doesn't show properly.

Does this have something to do with the .ini files or is it simply because of the screen resolution?

that overlap is nothing to do with the .ini iirc.

I was wondering how you get a picture into your spinner (That doesn't move, just in the background) or picture into your playfield. I have set a picture on playfield, but it doesn't show, and on spinners the picture moves. The best thing would be to find out how I get a picture as a background on all maps! Im a beginner at skinning, so if you're a good skinner, please give me some tips or something ingame! :)

for the spinner, there might be something wrong if spinner-background.png doesn't work
while for the background, playfield is just for beatmaps where they don't give pictures or videos
the only way to have a consistent background on EVERY SINGLE MAP is to go to options and set dim background to the max

Thank you for the dim background thing, I liked it darker in the background :) But do you have any idea of what I can do to get the spinner background as I please? I just want a constant picture all around, if you get me... :o

You should get the background you want and then change the image file into spinner-background.png
and also 1024x692 resolution for best-fitting for this

Downloading the template to start a skin, in osu!mania mode all seems like... Bad D: With the two templates is the same problem. Well, maybe I'm wrong, I've something configured badly and this just happens to me, in that case I'll appreciate the help :3 Thanks.

I have done this, but when the spinner approaches, there does not appear any image, everything is just normal as if I hadnt done anything :/ But oh well, I think like the black background I get from the max dim option :) Thanks tho! :D

Alright, so top left is the background I would like to have. Bottom left is my skin options (Think that's what you wanted to see..?) and top right is just to show you that it doesnt really work... ^^

Uncheck "Prefer new default skin behaviour" and make sure that you don't have "Version: 2" in skin.ini with is forcing new default skin behaviour.

Before you ask, old skin spinner is different from actual one and you can't have background with new one.

Horizontally? No, but you can do that in your skin.ini file with HitCircleOverlap: x and ScoreOverlap: x under Fonts. The higher the number, the closer the numbers will be. it's sort of trial and error until you get values that look nice.

thx buddy. never attempted to do numbers since it seemed quite annoying but i decided i was gonna try it sometime.

With your .ini the skin now looks much better, just the lines are very wide, but changing the BarelyWidth and ColumnLineWidth's value from 0.7 to 1 and everything is solved. Thank you so much ~

If I try to do top-right pie shape for it, then it just goes into this weird position o-o



trying to remove stuff so it doesn't interfere with gameplay, i.e combo count, score, etc

Hey got a problem. I have the game set to my native resolution (1920x1200) and so I was making pause, fail and menu backgrounds in the same resolution. Fail background seems perfect but both pause overlay and background menu seem to be "zoomed in" as if the resolution doesn't fit. Should I change the resolution of those images and if so, then what resolution should I use? Sorry if this is a dumb question, kinda new to this.

just try resizing them. reselect the skin, and check..
if still doesn't work, rinse and repeat

Also, got another question. I want to make my own spinner meter, in a similar fashion to those girl silhouettes "charging up" one bar at a time. Do I just make a png of whatever silhouette I want, put those charge bars in there and the game will know what to do with it or is it more complicated?

just make the silhouette as the background and the colour version as spinner metre, it'll do it's own thing

I want to ask about HD skin.... how that HD skin work ,moreover i still don't know how to active the HD skin is that have in the option or it only for big screen size only it will work. because someone have requested ARS Nova skin in HD at me
so that why I want to know ( I only use laptop so don't know how to use HD skin)

HD resolution only works for resolution above 1024*768...
To create A HD Skin Component... You can re-size the picture 2x than the original and name it "____@2x.png" (It's best if you create the HD skin component first and then re-size it to a half for the SD version)

It (playfield)wasn't used when played on maps with no background images


I have Yoko Ishida - paraparaMAX I and played it with HT (HalfTime). playfield is still there. (even if you toggled on "Disable Storyboard" for this)

when pressed "Random Map" or F2 in the Mod-selection
Figure 1 - Song is still active, haven't pressed Random Map


Figure 2.1 - playfield is still there when osu! selects a random map. (at high FPS)


Figure 2.2 - playfield is gone when osu! selects a random map (at low FPS).


If there's something that breaks this / weirder than this, You know what to do.

When i was playing osu! mania i noticed that whenever there were the notes you have to hold it would change the outline or the color of my combo counter to yellow. I thought maybe it was just for the skin i was using but it was for all of them and i can't find any way to change that color. Does anyone have any ideas on what that is and how I could change it?

go to any xK.ini file (where x is the # of columns) and add:
ColourHold: red value,green value,blue value,opacity value

eg.
ColourHold: 136,0,200,200

This might seem a bit lazy, but I'm not exactly prepared to read through over a hundred pages of content to find the answer for this question:
Is it possible to have the cursor (not cursor trail) cycle through multiple colors? I tried using a cursor-1, cursor-2, etc. system to do it, but it doesn't appear to work.

I can't get my spinner-circle to show up when I use my skin, but when I compressed it and sent it to someone else, it shows up to them just fine. I checked all m settings and they seem normal. How do I fix this?

Taiko Slider Ticks shares the same elements as the Standard Slider Ticks
Yes, you can change them, but the changes will affect both Taiko and Standard's Slider Ticks.

thanks, they are in the lucky star skin but unfortunately only the small ones and not the larger ones for the ranking page x_x So it looks like I'll be learning how to make bigger ones this weekend

I seem to have problems getting my circles and sliders one colour. If you look at WubWoofWolf's skin, every circle is gray. How do I make my circles gray, and only gray? I've heard I need to open the .ini file, but truth being told, I have no idea how I do so...

Help me ASAP please! :D Thank you in advance~ :)

You need to have hitcircleoverlay.png a gray filled circle to get gray-only hit circles.

Doesnt seem to work... That'll make the numbers go away aswell, and the approach circle is still colours :x

I have two lighting effects in a skin I just downloaded, the normal one in the skin's folder (the one I chose) and the standard skin's one.
I can't disable the second one, I looked into the skin's folder and skin.ini but found nothing about that effect.
Prefer new default skin animation etc... is disabled, Hit Lighting is disabled.

In your skin.ini changes the SliderTrackOverride.

I can't make this picture transparent background in the "GIMP" I don't know/understand how to do it. I have remove the background but the result is always like this(White background).

You need to add alpha channel to have transparency. Right click on picture layer and "Add Alpha Channel". Remember to save as png.

hi there, is it possible to add combo burst sounds on osu mania?... from what ive found in google it's either this is a very easy thing to do that no one EVER needed help or i suck at using search keywords....... PLEASE i just want to hear those cute sounds when i get combos

Combo burst has been removed from osu!mania so it would be impossible.

make the audiofile into comboburst-0, comboburst-1, and so on and so forth (if multiple)
this will change ALL the combo sounds of osu!, including standard, taiko and CtB

you can also put this in the skin.ini of the general section if you want the hitsounds to appear at certain combo numbers
for example, the sounds will appear at combos 100, 200 and 300.. then it will be
CustomComboBurstSounds: 100,200,300

hope this helped

It's really up to you what size you are making them. Go with template size if you really don't now what size you want.

You are probably using skin.ini from other skin.
Open skin.ini and find line "Version:1", delete it or change to "Version:2"

I never had this problem with skins I used before this one, the thing i want is just that the 'animation' is not standing that far to the right as it is now.

Ah I see, with new skin behaviour position of letters were moved a little to the right.

Just move whole picture to the bottom left corner without changing canvas of it.

It's weird I've made skins before where I made these letters myself and they always exacly fitted in place D; but for some reason these just wont do what I want them to do I made them smaller, moved them a side even made them again, tried reinstalling osu, i did everyting i could thing of but it just doesnt help :(
