allow using middle mouse click to play standard osu

osu should let people map the middle mouse button to a key and use it to play standard osu. Then, you could click by alternating between 3 fingers instead of 2 (28% more efficient that 2 fingers alone)

Although I don't really see why 28%...

Most middle mouse buttons are located on the scrollwheel, which is usually hard to press. I can't see this really benefiting many people?

You would map it to z,x,c (using the mouse to click is much harder than using keyboard). Then, you would just alternate between 3 fingers instead of 2.

I think 3 is doable because you have 3 strong fingers on each hand (4 would have to use pinky, which might be too weak to make it work)

but i like using the middle click to pause D:
if you want to alternate with 3 fingers, you still have the keyboard buttons

unfortunately you can only map the keyboard buttons to left and right mouse buttons (def is z,x). Hence, I wanted to map it to the middle mouse button. Or, at the very least, there should be a way to map additional keys as click keys.

And no, having a setup like 2 keys mapped to left click and 1 to right click with a macro would not work. This would count two of the keys as the same kind of press, which means you would have to fully release it before pressing its companion for it to count, which would be terrible.

Not all mouse devices have a soft middle mouse button. Especially with wheels and stuff. Not shipping this. ><

3 buttons enabled? Have fun doing streams which amount of circles isn't divisible by 3.


This request has no future.


Mainly because you don't even know how hard it is to master. And you don't know how easy it will be to spam high BPM streams with this, showing again newb players in the top scores.

Naaaah, I don't think 3 keys would do anything better, at least for me.

I prefer 4 "individual" keys (as in not tied with the rest of the keys unlike K1 tied with M1 and K2 tied with M2, so you can press all 4 of them), but that'll be a bit too much.

I'm against three button gameplay personally. And it would be inconsistent with how the overlay is setup. peppy is not going to like breaking the symmetry of the overlay just to add this functionality.

As said above, it wouldn't work well, hardware-wise it's even harder to press the middle button than left/right.

Thinking about it now, probably...
On a pratical level, i still believe it wouldn't make things easier, but considering the rules i will edit the post, so no one gets banned trying it '-'
