Hey, as I've read around on the forums generally lower dpi is better (like from 400-1000). But I guess most of the people who play with sensitvity that low must play on a 1024x768 resolution. Well, I play at a 1920x1080, and I've tried for some time now to set my dpi to around 1000. But on that resolution the sens seems way too low. Cant do very well with it. If you're playing at 1920x1080 shouldnt the "ideal" sensitivity be a wee bit higher, I guess around 1200-1600 dpi or something?

Just choose the lowest DPI you can and test test test test, the more DPI (or sensitivity) you have the more strain you put on your hand to make such precise movements

Not really, I learned to play with 450dpi at 1920x1080 (I'm assuming 1.0 ingame sens + 6/11 windows sens with no accel here). DPI is entirely about preference.

I played at 480dpi 1336x768 (1.5x ingame and 8/11 M$ windoze no precision) so it just kind of varies I guess. Just do what is most comfortable really :v

I used to play 1600x900 resolution with 1800 dpi and looking back on it I can see it was a bit too high. I was constantly having to readjust my mouse and it put a lot of strain on my hand. I would try to put it as low as it feels comfortable to you. If you start to feel yourself having problems with a certain dpi it's probably a bit high.

I used to play at 450dpi at 1366x768. I currently have my osu! set to 1920x1080, and I still find 800dpi to be too sensitive. You'll still want it to be low, but everyone has a different comfort zone.

I guess you have to choose 2000 - 3200dpi for that resolution...

I'm using mouse with 2400dpi on 1024x768 resolution. You can consider this.

Optimal sensitivity for /most/ people is between 450dpi to 1800dpi though.
EDIT: Damn it took a while to realize that this is a necro

I use 1200dpi on 1366x768, osu sens 0.8x. I'm trying to have enough responsiveness but keep the big movement distance for my precision. That way i think i can have a slow but higher resolution cursor movement. I've tried 550dpi with 8/11 in control panel, but i think the movement was jagged (it might get worse for your 1920x1080). This is just my own preference, however, everything goes back to your personal preference.

A lower DPI will usually provide you with more accuracy.if you have room, play with a low DPI.

The sensor is probably suffering from DPI interpolation or other kind of flaw. What's your mouse anyway? My G100 did suffer the same problem too but after did some research about the sensor, I found the native DPI step for it is 250 and so I set the DPI to 750 and the problem goes away.

Actually, it's better to find the right sensitivity that works best for you rather than going with low DPI just because someone said lower dpi = better accuracy.

Mouse sensitivity guides often fail to account properly for screen resolution. For a given aspect ratio, 1000DPI @ 1366 will feel the same as 1405DPI @ 1920 or 1874DPI @ 2560. Pick the lowest sensitivity where crossing the screen isn't difficult.

Pixel skips/trips and subpixel positioning don't bear much impact on osu! since it requires very little precision, so I won't go into their complexities here.
TakuMii
^Mouse acceleration does affect your osu! play though, and because of imperfections in sensor interpolation that can cause this, running at a different sensitivities can potentially affect your accuracy.

Also, the playfield size is affected by height, not width.

I see, that might be my problem. Mine is e-blue cobra. It has fixed DPI shift, so adjusting sensitivity in control panel is all i can do for this problem.

I have been making my mouse more and more sensitive as I often couldn't move my mouse fast and far enough for jumps until I eventually thought it was alright at 4000 dpi. I can highly recommend this speed since every movement comes from the wrist instead of the whole arm, and therefore is faster. Of course it seems insanely sensitive to people who are not familiar with it but it is only a matter of getting used to it, which can be pretty easy archieved if you make your mouse faster by 200 dpi each day or so.

I don't know about you, but there's absolutely no way I could control that DPI using my wrist. When I still used 2300dpi, I was only using my fingers. I only started using my wrist when I switched to 450dpi (at 1366x768. I recently switched to 1920x1080 and I feel more comfortable at ~670 800dpi).

And I can honestly say that jumps are much easier at lower DPIs. Bigger movements = less room for error, but this relies on having a good optical mouse. Most mice (especially laser mice) tend to suffer from mouse acceleration at low DPIs, making it more difficult to aim accurately and quickly.
