Chiming in on the whole engine issue, I really would suggest something like RPGMaker. Might not be the best engine, but you can get things quickly done with it, and you don't have to wait for awp to finish his stuff to begin working on it.
Most game assets are transferrable stuff anyways: if you have the plot, a bunch graphics and a general idea of how you're going to implement things, engines can be switched during development. Just my 2 cents here...
Should read the first post, but it's a long ass irc log, so I'll post my suggestions here like the lazy bastard I am.
Anyhow...since everything's going to be themed after osu!, I suggest that attacks would be called beats and magic would be called beatmaps. Then we could have magic spells/beatmaps like "agony", which...say...does X amount of damage and a poison effect on the enemy to boot. I already saw suggestions that armors would be called "skins" and instead of necklaces/rings, there'd be "mods".
I also suggest that the bad guys would be called The Army of Osutardation or something and would mostly be mods that have been too lazy to mod things, lately. Gabe is an otherwise awesome idea for an antagonist, but do we really need to give him extra fame and credit for anything?
