I say the dorky NPC kid with glasses who everyone makes fun of. Maybe, I'll like, accidentally screw something up, and it has to be fixed, and that's like a side-quest type thing.

Something screwed up? = your glasses.
After fixing it, you will give your glasses to the protagonist which adds +points to accuracy. (accessory)
you gave the glasses because you can see clearly now whatever the reason.

Anyway, that sounds awesome.

Someone needs to write up an actual text story thing for this, with paragraphs and stuff, outlining how the story is presented in the game and the various things the player has to do to beat the game in order. It's confusing reading multiple pages of unordered IRC logs.

Also, about the luigihann selling skins as armor thing, maybe luigihann's skin shop appears to be just a regular item shop from the outside, and you can go there and buy items of average-below average value. But as part of a side-quest thing, someone lets you in on the secret that the shop actually sells illegal skins as well(perhaps as a reward for fixing my glasses?), and they tell the player a "password", which you can tell to the person working at the shop and he'll let you go behind the shop where you can meet luigihann and buy his skins. So the item shop itself is just like cover for the fact that luigihann sells illegal skins.

Reason for the skins being illegal would be that they give the wearer power, which is why whoever it is that enslaved the place banned them, because he doesn't want to risk being overthrown by someone in power.

I don't really play RPGs too much, so...

I just thought of something.
Someone tells the player the password, they go to the shop, say the password, and get it wrong, but get it close enough.

The thing I'd like to keep in mind when developing events is that they're A - reminiscent of osu!, and B - they make sense. Some ideas can be used as they are, some will need revision (possibly to the point where they're nearly unrecognizable from what we see here) and some will unfortunately have to be pitched if they simply don't work.

Sin and I joked about him being the God of Time (if you really are the God of Time Kharl please have mercy on our souls we mean you no disrespect) but idk how big the "main city" is at this stage of the game. If it ends up being the size of a kingdom then yeah he'd be a King, and he is kind of the "Keeper of Time" anyhow - I don't know how royal figureheads would play into it, buuuuuut...

Let's just say Kharl likes to be humble about it.

I think it's safe to say this project is dead. D':

i know, i bumped it up for the new guys to read it. who knows someone MIGHT actually make this.

I'm actually learning .NET right now. It isn't necessarily dead, just on the back burner.

I think that osu!rpg should be a series of routes like F/SN.

The first route would be you fighting the Gabe infected Saturos as the final boss.

The second route, however, would be that you learn through a plot twist that Cyclone implanted Gabe into Saturos so he could gain the #1 Rank. You then fight Cyclone instead of Saturos.

The third and final route would be neither Saturos nor Cyclone being evil, but instead peppy just says fuck it and decides to destroy osu! for some reason I can't think of right now. You then fight peppy as the final boss, but then find out after his defeat that he is immortal and then peppy reveals his true form to be Bancho. Then some .hack//QUARANTINE-esqe shit goes down as all of your party members are disconnected from Bancho one by one until it's just the main character and Bancho. The route ends on a cliff hanger as you pull off INSANE BULLSHIT MOVES to get closer to Bancho to win, and as you hit the last spinner the screen grows blank.

Feel free to ignore this post if you want, I'm just throwing out ideas. Also, yes, the third route is meant to not make sense.

The post game fight would be a duel between the main character, Saturos, Cyclone, and The Eleven that Never Fucking Says Anything Ever.

The duel would be a multiplayer match of the hardest songs on their hardest difficulties (James Training, Wizards in Winter [Impossible], Marisa [Hard], etc).

On another note, how are the player NPCs (e.g. Saturos or James) going to be designed? Base it off their avatar? Or just give them a unique sprite?

That involves someone creating map sprites and battle sprites for every character in the game, which would be an awful lot of work. Multiple artists would also be a bad idea, due to different art styles.

Not every character would have a battle sprite. In fact, the vast majority (at least 75%) wouldn't.
