I made my default-0 ~ default-9 all little circles so that instead of numbers, well it displays circles...

It works well, except there's just one small thing that's bugging me.. After 10 notes of the same color, there would be two circles instead of one.. I've been playing around with the HitCircleOverlap for some time, but had no success in finding a good number to make it remain at one circle, consistently being in the center (at 50, there would always be one circle, but occasionally it would be more to the right)... Anyone happen to know a good number to put this at?
quoting one user
I similarly use circles instead of numbers, though I haven't looked into it too much I THINK you might be able to use 'HitCircleOverlap' in the skin.ini to make the circles overlap eachother completely? I need to test it out.
you just have to mess with hitcircleoverlap in the skin.ini untill you get the right value.
Dexus
Make the overlap the same as the width of the image.

In the midst of stream with the HitCircleOverlap as image's width...

I guess I'll just have to guess and check a lot :l

Use version: 2 in your skin.ini or use the 'prefer new skin behavior' in the skin options menu to use it.

What are good hit circle colors to do with a teal cursor?

I use the default colors and my cursor sometimes blends in with the colors.

Is there something wrong with the new!template's scorebar? It seems like the anchor's a bit botched

(The scorebar-bg I made here uses the same "slot" position as the template's,but the scorebar-color doesn't anchor properly to it)

Is this just a problem with osu! itself,or something else?

The template is fine, osu just handles the scorebar weird, the anchor point is shifted when you skin it even though the template is technically correct. You'll have to move your scorebar-bg since you can't move the bar itself.

OK so how should I do that?
I don't trust my hands enough to manually shift it properly without a guide or something
TouchFluffyTail
I dunno, I never have a problem manually shifting things. I just nudge them a few pixels, ctrl+s, reload the skin, then load up a map. Though I'm used to doing very fast turn arounds...
OsuMe65
Estimation is always the answer to that
move a few pixels bit and save => reload skin => view scorebar => repeat unti you get it right
(same as TFT's statement)

I just found myself a skin and when i looked into the folder i find a picture called '' matchsetup-background '' that is suppose to show up in the multiplayer rooms. but this picture doesn't. it is a PNG with 1025 x 768 size. help would be nice ^^

I think its no longer used. It was replaced by the "menu-background" imo.

It doesn't exist now. Why do you have to think about it?
All backgrounds are replaced with menu-background.jpg other than the old beatmaps' BG, that is playfield.png

So a proper Pop'n music mania skin can be made now?

YUSSSSSS

Anyways,is there anywhere I can find hit-sounds to use?In case I wanna change the ones in a skin?
Also is it possible to change the colours used in the song select menu?
I know we can change the colours of the text, but what about the colours of the buttons themselves?

crystalsuicune wrote:

Hit sounds are a little tricky since there's no repository for them, your best bet is to find a skin with hitsounds you like then ask them if you can use them.

crystalsuicune wrote:

The best you can do is use the additive color to blend into your button to make an end result color since you can't actually change the colors used. (which doesn't work very well)

Uhm, I dunno if this is the right thread but I have a bit problem with my latest skin. For some reason pause-overlay.png is not scratching correctly.

Both have the same resolution (1280*720) and my osu! is using 1200*675 which is also a 16:9. And only the pause background is acting this way. I wonder if I post this to the Bug report or something else is the problem.

Thanks is advance.

Question about Creating .osk files

Recently, I tried following this guide about creating *.osk files, but when i load the *.osk files into osu!.... Turns out that the skin become the default skin...

When I checked the Skin Folder, It was like this... Dunno why, but there's A Same folder inside that Folder... And the *.osk folder wasn't deleted

When I opened the *.osk with WinRAR... The result is like this

Can someone give Me another guide How to create *osk files?
TouchFluffyTail
All I do to make my .osk files is right click the folder then 'add to *.zip' with 7zip, then rename it to .osk.

i've posted the correct way on making .osk somewhere, i'll give you the main info with some SSes...

as long as you only put any files inside your folder not the folder itself it'll be fine.

something
- you must not put any .osk on skins folder unless you want the skin to be refreshed everytime open the skin selection
- http://puu.sh/59rfi.png it should contain, the file directly

(well, i'm sorry to be a rude-like on this post)

Right now this is actually a little messed up. First, the tutorial that I have made works but AS LONG as you will use same name for osk. file and folder itself.
If you change name it will unpack skin in 2 versions (lol). One with correct name and folder. Second with double folder and name of osk file.

Ehhh... whenever I will find more time I will try to update it... it's taking a little too long ;_;

make a transparent hit300-0.png and make the hit300.png visible

I knew that trick because I did this to my personal skin
explanation: (Note: if you have both hit-[judgment eg. 300, 100, 50, 0].png)
animated hitburst are shown in the gameplay
normal (non-animated) hitburst are shown in the ranking-panel

Nope, the new spinner only uses spinner-top, spinner-middle, spinner-middle2, spinner-bottom, and spinner-approachcircle. You can't make it use old elements like meter or background.

In addition, the new meter for the new spinner is the spinner itself. spinner-glow.png indicates that the spinner is cleared. (In the old spinner, one can tell that the spinner is cleared when the meter, which is the spinner-metre.png, reaches its peak )

So, how do I have to position the scorebar-color and the scorebar-ki -things? I've tried to position them a few times and always they seem to be off. Help please?
Ayesha Altugle
try doing this (since were both using GIMP)

1. canvas size the image dimensions of scorebar-bg and move the bottom scorebar below 1 pixel then repeat the same thing until it is correctly done
2. canvas size the image dimensions of scorebar-colourand move the scorebar colour 1 pixel right then repeat the same thing until it is correctly done
3. put scorebar-ki, kidanger and kidanger down. If it is too low, adjust it with some pixels up and tweak it until it is correctly done If it is too high, adjust it by canvas size then move 1 pixel down and repeat the same thing until it is correctly done

If it does not work then you probably did not understand what I am saying because it does work

Increase the vertical canvas size and move the entire scorebar-bg image down by about 5 pixels

Increase the horizontal canvas size of the scorebar-color image and move it right about 10 or so pixels, once it's aligned correctly, be sure to recrop the image so there's no empty space to the right of the actual image.

The spinner-circle also dims when you toggle Spun Out mod.
Akeipoid VM-01
Well that sucks was making a icy themed skin but it doesn't fit a good uniform style if the spinner-background dims from white to grey.
OsuMe65
best reason there is:
Yes, the spinner backgrounds are dimmed in game because of its default behaviour, no matter how beautiful it is. The meter is only highlighted while spinning. Spinner-circle will be dimmed when SpunOut mod is enabled (ninja'd btw)

Akeipoid VM-01 wrote:

best way is, make spinner background black and focus on the icy-themed spinner meter

Everything in my config file is the default with the exception of everything under //images.

There are also some other issues: sometimes, whenever I start a song, the notes come down with osu!mania's default coloring but start coming down with the my new coloring after playing a map for a few seconds. And a few songs just don't behave correctly. For example, the notes in one song are always gray. In another song, the notes fall down using my color scheme, but change to all pink a few seconds in.
You should download the skinning template in the first post and put all the note files in the folder, that seems to fix everything. Osu seems to have a hard time trying to display the default elements when you point to them in the .ini compared to when you're pointing to something actually in the folder.

anyone know if you can change the slider border colors to the same thing as your combo colors?
You can only do this if all of your combo colors are the same exact color, you can't set multiple slider track borders.

Thanks! As you said, everything fixed when I put all the images into the same folder as the .ini.

I have a question about spinners. How do we customize the expanding spinners like in the new default? I saw in one of niko's game plays before that he had an expanding circle so I tried out his skin package but it didn't expand for me. Is it a supporter only feature?
OsuMe65
make sure to tick on prefer new default if you want the spinner to expand
and making them is quite confusing if you're new to skinning

and the most important: No. It's not a supporter feature

Thank you!
Also, how do you remove the flashing effect while scoring the extra thousands? Do you make spinner glow completely transparent?

make spinner-glow.png transparent... completely transparent... if you want to remove glows that flashes while scoring extra thousands from spinners...
resize it to 1x1 if you want to save space... (i haven't tried this one but i bet this works)
