This is a feature request. Feature requests can be voted up by supporters.

I don't think we need clan.
First of all, I don't want to hear clan wars. It's disgusting.
Second, We have regional channel already. There's also game mode channel. Pretend that it's your clan.
Third, in my opinion, having a clan would reduce the area of community friendship, since we're focusing to add friends to clan.
Fourth, there's no profit. Joining a clan in osu! won't make your skills better. It won't produce money to pay peppy.
Aside from that, the community is good enough without clan.

I think it's a nice idea, although I think that bad players (or new players) who want to join a team won't be taken because of being new or bad.

Well Maybe it's a good idea. It's Can Motivate People To Become Better For Your Team.
This thread got my attention and some of my votes. It really would be an interesting feature and I would empathize with the idea very much but there are some flaws (which probably many people already pointed out; I'm sorry, I didn't read through the thread thoroughly).
As an example; the chat would be the flooded of [360NOSPIN] or [0ZU] (bad examples, I know) clantags all over the #osu, #lobby or any #country channels.
As much as I like to see those clans growing into good, active and healthy clans and making people more competitive... some are immature and advertising in a spamming-fashion. Meaning, even after they got punished (silenced or whatever) they'll continue doing it. You may think 1 is not so bad... there are some billion people living on this planet and almost 3 million Osu! players, some sharing the same traits as the other. Multiply 1 by approx +1000 and handle the spam they'll cause.
I wouldn't be really happy if I were mod, or any user that likes to chat in #osu or #lobby or whichever channel they're in.
My recommendations would be that the player can choose if they either want the tags to be "On" or "Off" in the Options.

Support but also ^, still, new player should join team with new player to improve and have fun, and compete instead of joining the "cookiezi" clan and don't know what to do there, or improve until you can join that team. Don't know about leaving team, TRAITORS those thing..Nokeru-Chan wrote:

There shouldn't be a maximum amount for clans, or later groups of users wouldn't be able to make their own clan. Also you shouldn't be able to join more than one clan.

* Clans are big and could have features like "clan chat", "clan members" in Online users (F9), but without ranks (i mean clan rankings), no clan tournaments or stuff like that.
* Teams are small and made for competitive play, you could have team games, 1v1 2v2 3v3, team rankings, and all kind of competitive stuff

The playcount stuff is shit... i often play offline (have at least 10k plays offline) to practise streams an singletaps. And so this is stupid, because playcout doesn't say hiw active a player will use the clan. The supporter idea is nice though, because you pay supporter and get a reward like this.

Indeed. Peppy's already working on a team system and clans are a proven way to improve the community around a game. StarCraft 2 launched without clans, and that's one of the features people were legitimately angry about not having. I honesty don't get why we don't already have clans, to be honest.Liiraye wrote:

To be fair, DaFlameHaze, it takes forever for some suggestions to be implemented. I think the main reason this thread is slow is that it's an older thread and almost everything anyone can say has already been discussed.
Bobbias , I mean that there is no information about the progress . It looks like "Clans ? Oh , fine ! I will add this feature !" (about 1 year ago) .

DaFlameHaze, do remember that osu! is mostly developed and maintained by one person. at a guess, i'd say this is something that will be slowly worked on when there is time to do so

Suggestion, maybe make it so there is clans that work altogether, but they're more so just there for grouping purposes. Inside when people want to compete, they can invite their friends from the clan to do 2v2, 3v3 ect., that way despite the smaller community, people can still make the game more of a social experience instead of just purely on solo performance.

For what it's worth, the idea of clans/teams in osu! can be implemented much clearly now that the game has gone much further in development then when I suggested AND revised the idea. I suppose additions CAN be made, but my enthusiasm for anything as of late is a bit of lack-luster. Get postin' people.

1. You clearly didn't read the full post, where I stated it was changed from Clans to Teams, I just couldn't edit the thread title at the time. Please don't tl;dr and then come here and post your shit. You're simply making yourself look even more stupid then you actually are.
2. This isn't an FPS where it's "Scrim me bro" or "Only elite ppl!" crap. The idea was to create more interaction between people. One team of people, 2-4, then meet up and play another team of people and play osu! together. This lessens the barrier around player interaction. The idea is to get more gameplay going and less "I did this score <screenshot>" or "I'm playing this <song>" in #osu and cramming as many specs as possible in, or spamming on the idea to get that. It's to get people to play with you, not watch one person. Please.
3. This won't do anything to the community, unless you spastics make it do something. Calm down. The community has, and will continue to remain, divided. Tablets vs Mouse. Standard vs <mode>. <playstyle> vs <playstyle>. <country> vs <country>. Stop being so melodramatic. You sound like someone who's afraid to change their roll of toilet paper because you're afraid the empty roll will rebel and cause your full rolls to refuse movement.
4. If you're a self centred prick and are going to put your 2 cents in against my comments: I don't check the forums often. As I said, 4 months and a bit was probably the last time I came to the forums, so you're wasting your efforts.

I highly doubt the community is much too small for this idea.
So its been ages since ive looked at osu! forums or played osu!, tho i've slowly came back to beat my friend (who has out-ranked me now).

This would need to be calculated in a ratio to make it fair that the clan as a whole contributes instead of just 1 player in a clan. That way it can be even?

Clans require groups of people from a few people to tens, so probably best get all functioning of this done, then until at a certain time point of the game where there are a huge amount of people actively playing, then this should be released.
