Oh hai.
I've visited this thread before but this request isn't actually for me...

My brother's looking for an action type anime.
He finished Bleach and Soul Eater and liked them both (I'm pretty sure those would be his top two anime too). He also liked Full Metal Alchemist, but losing interest in Brotherhood. I suggested Claymore and Attack on Titan so he'll look into that.
Doesn't care for mecha (which is why I can't really recommend him much) or anime with guns (such as Requiem for Phantom or Ghost in the Shell).
Any other recommendations?
He prefers English dub but if there's anything good enough I'm sure I could suggest it just the same.

Thanks for the help!

You could try Fairy Tail, Deadman Wonderland or Marai Nikki. I wanted to say Cowboy Bebop,Black Lagoon,Ao no Exorcist, Code Geass, and Evangelion but the whole guns/mech in those animes won't do much good.
He said he didn't like gun but he was fine with Death the kid? XD

I think I've finished many major animes as well as not too noticeable ones, anyone have under-rated animes for me? Any genre's fine.
Mogsy
Underrated anime from any genre? Sure.

Flag is an anime version of a found-footage political thriller. It's slow, powerful, and sometimes unsettling. Not for your average fan but it's easily one of the best things in the found-footage genre, period.

Hataraki Man is a lesser-known seinen slice-of-life series dealing with an adult woman with a SERIOUS work ethic working at a weekly magazine. The show goes into the trials and tribulations of adult life while never really sugarcoating it or putting it up on a pedestal. It is a bit over the top and silly at points, but its drama never feels melodramatic.

Kuuchuu Buranko is one of those shows that I still have no fucking clue about. It feels like I never watched it all, but watching it was the equivalent of an animated fever dream. Or acid trip. Maybe a little bit of both. Not quite Cat Soup-level due to the fact that it does all connect and each story in the show makes sense. It's certainly unique, though.

Kemonozume is one of those strange adult titles that manages to be weird and occasionally immature with its overuse of mature ideas. However, it's one of the ugliest things I've ever seen that manages to be even more watchable despite its oddity. It's a straightforward story, too, and probably Masaaki Yuasa's most accessible product.

I will also suggest Shion no Ou despite its major problems because it is a murder mystery based around shogi. It's pretty damn glorious.

I'm very confident Mirai Nikki isn't the type of thing he's looking for. While I agree it's action, I think he's looking for more "flashy action like Bleach" (I've never seen Bleach myself). Fairy Tail and Deadman Wonderland I've never seen though so I'll keep that in mind.
Ao No Exorcist my sister told him about 'I think'.
The mecha genre he's not a fan of in general.
It's not that he doesn't like guns, he doesn't like anime which are JUST guns (or where the action is mostly guns... hopefully you get what I mean), like the two I mentioned above.

Thanks for the help!

I don't know what You mean about Romance Relationship, cuz' I haven't watch Omamori Himari yet... But I think :
- Fate/Stay Night (Bodyguard (Or Servant in this Case) & Master, Some Romance Relationship, It's Good )
- Mayo Chiki (I haven't watch this yet... But I remember that this Anime has "Bodyguard & Master" and have Romance Relationship)

If You talking about Romance & Comedy... And OreGairu has "School" settings... I guess :

- Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai!
- Chuunibyou Demo KOI ga Shitai!

For maid/bodyguard master relationship, Mayo Shiki is good yes. There is this girl bodyguard (they know her as a boy though) and our guy. Plus a sadist master (<3)

You can also try Maria Holic, though it is not that kind of romance but a funny one.

You might like the following.

H20: Footprints in the Sand - Views life in a negative way, but tries to be positive. It's a very dark show. Darker than Higurashi, I would say.

Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai - Pretty funny. Nice characters. Lacks romance, even though it's meant to be romance. Overrated, but still good. The OVA has more romance than the entire series.

Watashi ga Motenai no wa Dou Kangaetemo Omaera ga Warui! - Like the MCs from Yahari Ore No Seishun Love Come Wa Machigatteiru, but far more extreme. A complete shut-in that wants to talk to people, but can't. It's extremely funny and makes me want to go all Rena style and take the MC home.

I hope you like at least one of them.

Only if you find sexist, super-otaku-pandery-wish-fulfillment good.

I need 1-4 to stockpile on. I've watched noobie stuff like fma, fairy tale, soul eater, black butler, samurai champloo.
Mogsy
Watch more intro-to-anime stuff, preferably stuff with weight to it. I've got four suggestions right here:
  1. Cowboy Bebop
  2. Akira
  3. Paranoia Agent
  4. Neon Genesis Evangelion
Even if you don't end up particularly liking them, they're important works. If you want more recent stuff compared to these, there's Puella Magi Madoka Magica and Steins;Gate (the latter of which is definitely applying to the first sentence for me and it's an interesting way to do a VN adaptation).

I'll chuck in a rather nice line-up of anime you could try out as well Powersocke:
  1. Berserk - Brutality in its purest, animated form.
  2. Claymore - Limbs go flying quite a lot be it the humans, demons or Claymores themselves.
  3. Fist of the North Star - Another classic anime showing pure violence in a post-apocalyptic setting.
  4. Gantz - This is one of the most known series for its gore level.
  5. Afro Samurai - Quite an interesting take, especially since it was an American production.
  6. Ichi: The Killer - Hilarious violence in a rather screwed up character.
  7. Ninja Scroll - This has plenty of detailed violence in it from people being torn limb from limb to a guy drinking the blood of another.
  8. Baoh the Visitor - Exploding heads; need I say more?

Depends on what you are after for that "cheer up" feeling.

Let me know if you are after feel good romances or just comedies in general.

Depends on which genre you are after as it's really hard to recommend certain titles while trying to think if it is actually what you would be after. S;G is entirely different to the mecha-style theme for Code Geass & Guilty Crown, with the latter not being up to the level of quality either of the prior titles are.
PyaKura
Anything that is more or less in these genres will be fine. If you can think of a few animes (like 2 or 3) I'll just check them and see for myself really. I'm not too picky about animes.

Principle 1: Don't watch shit.

there's only like 3-4 anime in MAL that is equal or higher than 9.0, js

Because watching things based off of suggestions or other things you like is obviously only for people with shit taste.

Speaking as an anime critic: Get a grip. Rating systems aren't perfect and are based entirely around aggregated subjectivity. Sure, you could sum up a bunch of peoples' feelings on something into an average score. That doesn't mean you'll automatically enjoy something with a high rating and hate something with a low rating. It just represents the fact that a lot of people do, in fact, enjoy it. But even if something has a high rating, it doesn't mean it's for everyone. Let people follow their tastes and make suggestions based off of content and not off of something arbitrary like someone else's score.

tl;dr: stop and let people watch what they want to watch.

Not everyone is part of the hivemind. Everyone has their own tastes, everyone is an individual. Everything means something different to someone else. Let people like what they like, judge things for yourself. It's just anime. Also please keep in mind that the hivemind isn't always right (in particular, look at Clannad: AS and Steins;Gate). Think for yourself, life gets more enjoyable that way!

OT: Horror anime, eh? There are very few I can actually recommend:

  1. Paranoia Agent - Not wholly horror, per se, but it's a thrilling mental trip.
  2. Tasogare Otome x Amnesia - The fanservice bits wore on me for the first five episodes, but eventually the mood of the whole thing sets in and it becomes genuinely unsettling.
