So, I've been painfully aware of this for a while now, but I'm wondering why, when you drag a new beatmap into osu!, it doesn't add, but instead you must exit out of the game and restart for it to be on the list. I'm kinda new to this and I'm sorry if this has been posted before but it's a huge pain to play online

Try posting here instead?
A new version of the osu! wrapper for OS X will be out in the next few days which fixes this. Alternatively try pressing F5 after the osu file says it has installed
