Build 1.6.1 is now available to download, but seems to use a much more different structure this time since we actually have to manually download it. Also, please bare in mind the server updates are not instantaneous to when each update is released. Plugins also need to have updates first before doing so, otherwise, things will break, and bad things can happen. Also, updating too soon will cause you to be"locked out" of the server till up to date so remember that as well.

Extra Note: Oh, and word of warning, if you're one of those who has like over 10 plugins/mods in their Minecraft.jar and such, be ready for a headache to update and patch them for usual reasons.

Had some jackasses hijacking the server last night with some logbot crap. Found the main griefer destroying things and banned the logged account names. osu! names were also removed for it as well. The lava pillars on the houses took long enough as it is to clean up.

Going to leave this as a stringent note for anyone who wants to screw around on osu!craft. Griefing/hacking will result in the removal of your access from the server, and possibly a hardline osu! ban.

All in all, please just don't do it.

Normally, yes. It keeps up with the speed the bukkit builds (and plugins) come out.

If the mods want to copy this into a new thread just for Mineshafter peeps, I'd recommend it.

For those of you that are having trouble with installed mods [I'm looking at you, people with Mineshafter Squared], here's a bit of info:

Ever since the new launcher from Mojang, mods are auto-reverted due to minecraft checking the sha5 of a file with the official images, and installing fresh resources [thus making you lose anything you've tweaked].

To stop the new launcher from doing this:

Open the '.minecraft' folder [ %appdata% -> .minecraft ]
Open the 'versions' folder
Open up the version you want to play [should be server version]
Open up the jar file with 7-zip or whatever, LEAVE IT OPEN.
Start Minecraft up with the compression tool above still open.

Since I use MineshafterSquared, I would like to ask something...

Is this the end for people who use Mineshafter?
Now that the server's 1.6.2, people that use Mineshafter can't go on now.
(Because of the new launcher. Also tried force updating, but that obviously didn't work.)

Which leads me to the question/ main point in this post
Anyone know a way to use 1.6.2 with Mineshafter? Just asking, but I doubt that there's a way for that but if there's one... Tell me.

EDIT: I now know that there's a Mineshafter with 1.6.2. Though I think it's in progress...

The house being near the road is one of the problems, but the group of griefers who entered this server and started griefing homes (i heard that happen about a week ago) with the main griefer probably damaging not only my house, but others... I can request a repair to the roofing as it costs heck loads of wood but I can repair the walls without a problem...

Posted that from the previous page. Also, i'm kinda stuck again trying to figure out the "mod friendly" update that Mojang Royally screwed over to get the mods running and my edited default GUI textures back.

Oh screw it.... they friggin "jailed" the files through auto-verification now. So anything that doesn't match with the database gets wiped or reset. Editing the texture files didn't help either since they are forced defaulted. Also, minecraft.jar doesn't exist anymore so no point in working with it after the 1.6 update. Honestly, it's pretty stupid being forced to use the tex-.... I mean resource packs just to get a SMALL skin edit. I never heard of such a silly thing. And I'm not seeing anything "Mod Friendly" with the current build either for the fact they are force-reloading files to prevent the Mineshafter from working, but also hurting those that have legit copies.

After another painful 4 hours of research, I found a *decent* solution that worked with installing mods. Though, I had issues with 1.5.2...

Looks like the same method to me except for the multiple jars, though I use MultiMC myself which would really have made all that easier. Did you remove META-INF?

That's a must when doing the mod(s). But, you don't want to use the main version files the launcher checks on (i.e. 1.6.2 folder with the files inside it). You'll end up with a setup like this...



Note the files that don't have "custom" added to it are the original which you shouldn't bother with editing since it gets reverted. The only other problem is to get the mods to work since some of them will load a bit blochy, halfway, or not at all. Also as a warning, you may have compatibility + launching issues trying to use the mods in versions before 1.6

Edit: Managed to load Minimap without Modloader. But that's all i'm trying for 1.5.2

Something is going on with this server... Since late morning (around 10: 45 UTC +8), it kicked me out with that Internal Exception: Java.net.SocketException: Connection reset by peer.

And even right now at 19:13 UTC +8, it says the same "Internal Exception: Java.net.SocketException:" but this time it's all "Connection reset."
It cannot be my internet because I can play on another Minecraft server perfectly without any lags nor disconnections.... Something's up....

Also found out I could load Rei's Minimap and TMI without using Modloader. It seems there may be a chance a Modloader was coded in for the current launcher build as using the Modloader mod itself actually broke stuff in a horrible way.

Use Forge instead, it seems to be better/less broken, and has its own modloader inside.

I heard someone came into the server a few days ago to troll. But failed and got killed :~u

Also, i've been getting some INTENSE lag from Multiplayer. Not sure if its the build or Mojang's DB is crapping out again as usual.

Yea, i'm getting it too.

On another note. I need to stop taking like 3 week breaks from this server or else I keep getting kicked out of the faction >_>
Some reason I can only play minecraft in short bursts of time otherwise I get bored. It's not really helping my cause though..lol

I really think we should make the server more interesting. Adding mods isn't that hard at all.
And right now there are just PLENTY of players in. It's just for fun, but having some more people and features wouldn't hurt at all... as winber said, after some hours it becomes boring, especially because everyone is spreaded around. meh

My house got destroyed, okay, but this was an live up for me, which leaded to a mending of my island!
I would have some ideas how live up things, but the question is if there would be made any changes anyway?
Since we are few people, we could at least shape it for out taste. Maybe people like it as well after that change.

Hmm... It would be nice actually. Most people that appear on only thinks osu!craft is only about mining and building stuff (and being a jerk griefing for no reason). Having some stuff to keep it interesting would be cool. The only question is what.

Though i've been thinking on the custom map option for some time, but not sure if it would be accepted or not. I'll have to use a new map for it since the project started around 1.4's

So, the Mineshafter got updated, so I tried to get in, to check if my "base" still exists.
Of course I'm still getting "Failed to verify username" error. Maybe it still needs an update, dunno.

I think you should update the server for allowing cracked versions (installing a plugin for password though) because I was told on a tutorial for Minshafter Square that all servers were shut down, meaning that we can't get to the server anymore

Thanks to the no "passthrough" thing, I have been inactive on the server for over 2 MONTHS!!!! I certainly hope my permanent faction is still there guarding my home and the Diamonds in it...

#1 Attack was really beneficial for me, since I rebuild my whole house and now it looks much better.

So, I just got home, found two emails of wide spread damages [and here too] happening from a griefer. Wasn't too happy about it and explored around a bit. Had to do some repairs to the road due to the man-made damages caused and saw [sadly] that MikuMiku got wrecked even though the faction still exists. After taking a look around, it came to me that someone obviously used fly hacks along with other cheats to cause such destruction in a short time. I'll have the matter checked out, but if you're missing any stuff, please let me know.

Event logs would help a lot in times like this, but since I don't own the server itself, I can't access them personally. So, having some mods would help indeed but just hope they don't conflict or lag the server and its plugins.

So, I heard there will be a server update soon.

How about using this update for adding new mods and features?
We could talk about what we could add to the server after it gets updated.

E.g. I would like to have the dynamic map back. This was a great feature and I do miss it a lot.
Also, having additional mods like Mo’ Creatures or PIXELMON would be also cool.

It is every time the same, so having some new stuff would be cool.
Any other opinions or ideas?

Well, then PVP should be disabled.

Nearly no one wants to fight, everyone builds 10.000 blocks away from the spawn since they are afraid. And those who got attacked are stressed and even report users.
Due to this I doubt that we even need PvP. Just my opinion about current situation.

Well, I doubt the server can be PvP Free for one. Having Dynamap usually drawn in trouble due to griefers who use it to strike. Best to get rei's mini map when available and load it into your current version of minecraft in a custom profile.

As for the extra stuff, that would be interesting, but I just hope it doesn't conflict with other plugins and such. Also, that's up to Eph on that one if it can be added or not.

I don't go into the server, do people actively attack others now?

But anyway, I'm not talking about people using dynmap to attack others, but attacking claimed land and factions themselves, which can be done with TNT.

Another idea is toggleable PvP, where those who enable it can fight others, and those who don't care for it can just set theirs to off. I actually do like a little PvP to spice up playing with others. Pretty sure there should be a plugin like that, I played in such a server years ago.

Also, as long as factions/towns/plots or whatever are made invulnerable and applied from the map's start (unlike previous where Valhalla got unprotected when towny>griefprev), I don't see the harm of dynmap. Sure, griefers could still destroy unprotected land but they still totally can now.

EDIT: Thinking about it, I have some thoughts about how this server is right now, and some suggestions for its future. It's just my opinion, so you don't have to agree or disagree. You can even disregard it, since honestly, I don't go in the server much.

My 2c and suggestions
As a guy who watches letsplayers pretty often, I've thought that MC servers could be generalised into a few types: Enforced-Order, Trust-Order, and Anarchy. Enforced-Order would kinda be like hardcore grief-prevention plugins like foolproof area protection, LogBlock, etc to ensure that people's things are protected. Trust-Order is basically a vanilla server, but a tightly-knit community (whitelisted, etc) ensures that everyone is friendly with each other and nobody actively griefs someone else. Anarchy is... well, anarchy. Do whatever the fuck you want to.

Most players here would prefer the Order side of things, as far as I can tell. Obviously, osu is nowhere near small enough to be a true tight-knit community, which means players want some sort of plugin, etc to help protection. I've never really understood the choice of Factions as an area-protecting plugin, when it's obviously not meant to be so. Claims can be taken over via death or removed due to inactivity, or completely skipped if someone has a large-enough supply of TNT. This is supposed to promote user interaction and some anarchy iirc, but the problem is no one wants to interact like that. So as a result, Factions is being exploited by griefers instead.

1.7's coming up, and the massive biome changes will probably necessitate a new map when it's released. My suggestion is that an alternative claiming plugin is used, similar to Towny or GriefPrev or something, idk. The plugin's claims would not be able to be taken over nor destroyed. For decay, it might be better to just leave inactive claims alone unless it's an area close to spawn and someone else would like to build there.

As for PvP, like I said, some people might like having it since it gives another thing for them to do. I myself like some PvP, since it can be deeper than just spamming, with the right equipment. A nice compromise would simply be a personal PvP toggle and also some method to see who else has their PvP toggled. Small rewards could be given to winners, like maybe the player head or something to hang up in homes. If Dynmap was enabled, people should be able to hide themselves from the map too, if they don't want to be disturbed or are trying for an ambush. It also makes PvP more interesting if both the attacker and defender are hiding.

For griefing of unprotected land, there's no way to actually prevent that, unless some chunk-restore plugin is used or something, which doesn't revert ores, for obvious reasons.


Of course, there's a completely different idea. I remember Eph talking about an idea of a limited map, and limited factions. Important resources will decrease over time, and players can either resort to using renewable resources, or use an economy possibly based on fighting and exploring outside of the faction. Factions can fight to expand, but each faction will always have an unconquerable "capital" as a safezone for those who aren't interested in fighting. Limited factions and safezones would definitely increase interaction between players, if that's the target of the server.

Not a mod. I crafted that myself and did a test run on survival. Pretty damm dangerous to tell you the truth ._.

Erm, I have come back from a super-long inactivity thanks to a friend who sent me a gift code.
Yes, it has been seen before my eyes that my home was wrecked, after close analysis of damage patterns it looked like they used TNT or something. But that's not what I am literally pissed at.

Honestly speaking, I did see the damage before and investigated it. As far as I can tell, some cheat mods were used in a raid. Especially with how it was targeted. Of course, anyone using such things get banned eventually.

Well, I doubt its time wasting if the last update manage to screw up chunk loading (which is a bad thing).

Edit: I know its been some time since the last picture posted, but I got tied up with some work that had to be addressed so I couldn't get as much done as I wanted. But to show you what's going on right now, i'm working on setting the biomes correctly instead of one huge jungle biome. Including snow on the mountain tops.

Well, i've been scrambling in my head on how to make the shops without the use of the econ plugin and I figured it out. Though its not easy, it's possible and can be edited. Of course, the currency will be typically from common (like gold bars, gold nuggets, books) to the more rare "expensive" items (like diamonds, emeralds, and even nether stars)

Its just the matter of setting it up right. Especially for treasures with attributes.

Not sure about items being saved for the next update honestly. I think it's more possible through enderchests since I feel they are "profile-based" and doesn't have separate storage points like regular chests do.

As for the extra plugins, its up to Eph on that if it seems logical or not to add.

After sitting down with some thoughts, I feel it would be cooler having some help to generate more custom structures to use when the new update appears. If you want to have your creations used, just message me and i'll combine it or have them placed thoroughly. We can also review the layouts and collab build.

There's going to be a slight delay. My graphics card decided to nade itself on me and now i'm stuck on a stock on-board video as a temp. Was getting horrible lag before then till it finally gave out. Sorry for the delay but just need a few more days. :o

i was actually thinking of incorporating whymeman's world with a bundled twilight forest + thaumcraft modpack, since those two both work together very well, provide some interesting mechanics and lots of cooperative play opportunities

how do people feel about this?

Sounds nice actually. Though before I actually start plotting the chunks together on the map, I want to make sure if anyone else really wants the world Normal (w/ Large Biomes) or AMPLIFIED. The sooner I get the votes, the faster I can figure out the best choice considering those who would actually suffer graphics lag loading 100000+ blocks a chunk.

While I have to agree that it does sound good, I think it's best if the server remains mod-free. I don't like corrupting my MC files just to enjoy mods (unless it has a standalone ver). If you guys are really gonna include such mods in, be sure to make your instructions clear in the op so everyone can join with ease.

Hmm.... though if the addon mod is standalone without needing others to get the mod itself, that would also be nice. Then again, you can also save customized versions of the Minecraft version folder if you do it right as seen on youtube vids with installing mods since 1.6

Finishing up with the Skyland chunk. Had to rework some biomes due to the phail with MCEdit not pasting the biomes correctly. Also reworking the shops to correct some item prices in the Mini City.


Also working to patch up AMPLIFIED chunks into the map. Will take a bit of time to smoothen out.

Alright, some good news is that the map should be done by this weekend. After that, it's just the matter of updating and setting up the server and such. Just finalizing the edit tests and chunk smoothing atm.



Alright, here's how i'm going to go about with the finalization.

* about 3 cities /w armor and weapon shops each containing different level of "boosted" equipment. A bank for "currency" exchange, a food store, and a ingredients shop (for potions).

* custom chunks of land/dungeons are added. at a massive distance of course.

*Currently finishing up the battle ship theme for ocean travelers

I'll list more later on.

It almost sounds as if you're changing the game mode of the server to Adventure instead of Survival, in which to be honest sounds pretty cool since I believe not many others have done this before.

Well I'd be okay either way (as in either Adventure or Survival). I'll be looking forward to the server :D

Not going with Amplified. Just Large Biomes at most. I tried to do Amplified for a week and it was just nuts to handle though I wanted to keep a small experience from it so I took a chunk from that world and pasted it into the current one i'm working on. As for the progress, I just have to add one more city, some touch ups, then good to go.

Finished up on the towns. Just doing one last thing which is the battleship theme with live active ships firing and such.

Seems like an expected update came just in time too. 1.7.2 was too friggin buggy on some of the servers I was on.

Lol, well I already asked about that some weeks ago, but no one pitched in a copy of a world folder with their creations except for one person.

I'm just using what I got right now to finish up.

Heh... wish I was able to send some but I am terrible at building.

Something always happens that kicks my ass (got slightly sick and really busy).... anyways, I got the battle ship done. All that is needed is to furnish and load the ammo. Then i'll see if I can load in maybe 14 ~ 17 into that one area for the map, then we'll be good to go
