been seeing this one, and I kinda like suggesting it
As the HP goes down there should be a little switcheroos like
Audio will lower like music down, hitsounds up so the player can like focus a little bit more if his/her hp is going down(can be applied in Multiplayer), discoloration of background(might suggest in the shader effects it should be black and white)

Toggle or -100% support I guess, sounds distracting.
peppy
sounds amazing to me. sounds like 99% of players will ragequit.

just like pp

could be another toggle option, but sounds more distracting than making you focus...
Nathanael
Some players focus on the audio itself than the hit effects so its a disadvantage to them.
As jesus1412 said, its distracting and might lose focus for others.
TheVileOne
This would be terrible. Some songs require musical cues to be playable. The hitsounds don't help at all when the song is mapped to vocals.
Dexus
This is great and could work well if implemented correctly. Couple this with the blurring background request and it'd be nice.

Just make two slider bars with the desired limits of both music and sound in the audio options. 0% = no change so it will appease the people who would get annoyed by it.

I think I might just stop working on osu! and focus on a new game where I can actually implement things I want to. People here have too much power/self-righteousness :P.

Don't forget the red flashing and heartbeat sounds, and that buzzing noise.
Can be just like any call of duty game!

Now it sounds awesome.

I actually have an idea for how to add this to osu!. Let's see if I ever find the time ;).
deadbeat
this could be interesting to see if done well

Yes it would, but it would also be rather annoying. I have no issues with implementing things I dislike/won't use, I just don't want it forced on me. It'd be nice if most (all) things were like that but alas that's not how things work around here.
chox_old
as long as it would be togglable then i see no problem to adding this
not really sure if many people would use it like shader effects tho

people write requests because they care about game, not to destroy it.. some like it clean and some like having action-esque effects and alike which makes it fun for them and there's nothing wrong with that, it's just preference.
some like being fully-competetive in something with their hearts and some prefer just to be casual players, that's how it is since ever
if i'd ever be such genious to create such good game then i would be very happy to see all kinds of players, especially those who are dedicated because it only shows how much they like the game
there's freedom in creation so creator can do whatever he thinks is right, but keeping players in mind is very kind act creator can do, it just depends on how the person is..
probably won't even read that but whatever, just saying what i think..
TheVileOne
Please tell me that if this were ever implemented the audio of the song will be left completely intact or this will be entirely optional. I want to hear the song as it should be up until I fail.

discoloration of background
This already happens, It has a red overlay when playing under DirectX.

if this is ever implemented I think i'd just stick to 1 star songs

Inb4 april fools.

:D

peppy knows he can do whatever he wants with this game, yet the problem is that if we had done some things he certainly wanted to do he would have lost players, less players = less money, you gotta make the game appealing to the biggest player base and he knows that, why make a game you as a creator like yet many of those playing it don't? Many of the changes he has made to the game in the last months have been really cool, he really started looking at things from another pov, and that's great.

I wouldn't dislike this tho if it was optional, as a new player it would really look good, not too sure about the volume thing tho, but the dim thing is nice.

^ This.

This makes the player lose their will to fight their health back if this happens.
Kurokami
I think if you lower the volume of the music and with the same time Hidden+Flashlight is appearing it would be awesome. The players will start to concentrate more what they are playing. /badjoke

In other hand no, background colorization (maybe to red) would be cool.

Shader effects :3?

B-b-bloody screen! So real!
Sure, can be fun, especially for newcomers. If implemented well not even necessarily to make a toggle option. And I doubt it will bother anyone too much, it's very rare to play at the edge of failing for too long.

Stop playing hard difficulties.

I use the following logic: on high enough OD if you're about to fail - you usually fail and on low OD you're no near to fail at all or key smashing trying to survive (which is also the way to play, yes), it's not always true though. Also it won't affect competitive play in any way because you're not going to fail with high acc fc, maybe except some crazy drain maps with hr on.

In the end, it's all about how this feature is gonna be implemented, for instance, there's already a big difference between this thing activating on 10% hp or 20%.
