yeah you know that's black background make me crazy, but hey it's a preview skin you know i hope i not see only blank background, ow you can use playfield.png and make it a background on skin selection, sorry my english not really good thank you :)

It is there as long as selected song preview doesn't have background. For example : https://osu.ppy.sh/s/2934

Why not have it always? No one makes maps without backgrounds anymore.

I think he means he wants to have other colors as default "blank" background and not just black.
Deleting a BG makes the playfield blank (but black).
