Redefining what puush is.

When we first conceived puush in 2010, we wanted to create a straightforward way to help us quickly share what was on our screens. Soon after, we extended puush to allow us to throw small files around too.
Since then, we’ve seen a massive uptake and tremendous support from our users. The problem is that a tremendous majority of puushes aren’t being accessed again after 24 hours - in fact, only 10% of puushes are accessed after a month.
puush is a quick way to share things. puush is not a data warehouse.
We do not wish to become a file locker, file storage or backup service. There are plenty of other solutions out there that do a much better job of this (e.g. Dropbox)
So what we’re going to do is this:
Stop offering permanent storage, files will expire after not being accessed for:
Free users: 1 month
Pro users: 3 months
Remove the 200mb limit for free users
Start offering various export options (download as archive, download to dropbox)
Offer optional Dropbox “sync” for pro users (automatically archive to dropbox)
We have always made puush primarily with our own goals in mind, and believe the majority of our users share the same use-cases that we do. Moving forward, we believe this refinement will properly shape puush into what we have envisioned, and allow us to keep it running strong with more regular updates into the future.
These changes will be made in the near future. We will send out an email at least a month before we begin to expire old files, and you will be able to export your content during this period, should you need to.
