can I host a minigame

Name: 5p Jester Mafia
Setup:
  1. 1 Mafia goon
  2. 1 Jester
  3. 3 Vanilla Townies
based on the 10p/12p Jester mafia but imo it could work as a minigame
game can work with 7p by adding two VTs
just thought it'd be a fun idea and I wanted to have a game with a Jester, since it's only 5p it could probably be run concurrently, otherwise no need to host it > <

hey guys what do you think about this setup

10p Crapshoot Mafia
  1. 1 Mafia Strong-willed Rolecop (strong-willed = immune to all redirection roles, in this game it includes rolestop/nexus/etc.)
  1. 1 compulsive redirector
  2. 1 compulsive bus driver
  3. 1 compulsive roleblocker
  4. 1 compulsive rolestopper
  5. 1 compulsive jailkeeper
  6. 1 nexus
  7. 1 1-shot lightning rod
  8. 1 1-shot switch
  1. 1 1-shot vigilante
  2. 50% 1 sane cop, 50% 1 insane cop
  1. Mafia randomly gets one of the eight redirection roles. This becomes non-compulsive if it was one of the compulsive roles. One of the remaining redirection roles is omitted and given to the mafia rolecop as a safeclaim
  2. Lightning rod activates on either N1, N2, or N3 (randomly determined at the start of the game)
  3. Switch turns all redirection roles off for one night
  4. Cop doesn't know if their target changed
  5. Rolestop stops kills
  6. Actions take place in this order: switch > lightning rod > busdrive > redirect > roleblock > JK > rolestop
I'll host it when my turn comes if no one rages too much about it :P

Game Setup/Desciption:
1) Would be a 15p Game. (Or less depending on the number of people who are joining
2) Due to the complaints of having short deadlines, Day phases would be 7 days. Night Phases Would still be 1 day.
3) This is an experimental setup.
4) It will NEVER EVER BE A BASTARD SETUP (No Jesters, No Cults, NO LIGHTNING ROD PGOs :P)

Game-Specific Rules:
1) Each player would be given 1 card Each Day.
2) Card distribution would be given at random. The stronger the card is, The rarer it is. (Card strength would be based on this list
3)Card usage will depend on which card. Some can only be used during the day, Some during the night, Some at any time, And some activated automatically (Passive Cards)

Sign-ups:
1) NO SIGN-UPS ARE BEING ACCEPTED AT THE MOMENT.
2) This message is merely an advertisement and, of course, posted here so the mod queue will not be disturbed. The final setup is not yet... erm... "Finalized"... Hence, any kind of sign-up, pre-in will not be accepted.
3) Sign-Ups/Pre-ins may be available in 2 weeks time or so.

Additional Information:
1) Most probably, It would be 12-Town 3-Scums.
2) But since there's a special rule, It may reach 11-Town 4-Scums, or it MAY reach up to 10-Town 5-Scums since it is a swingy setup.
3) Roles may still have their own power, which would be different from their card.
4) DO NOT RELY ON ROLE FLAVOR!!! ORIGINAL FANTASINIAN CHARACTERS MAY BE BRONQUIAN, AND VISE VERSA
Adding stuff:
1) Scum, to prevent flavor issues, should and shall have safe-claims. So Flavor influence may be lessen.
2) I might change the setup. But I am not going to announce what it is anymore.
3) There WILL be VTs.

Now Announcing: Higurashi Mafia

NOTE: There WILL be spoilers for some plot points in the first series. Anyone who has not played through the sound novel or watched at least the first anime series and don't want to be spoiled for these plot points should be wary of joining or following along. However, it is entirely possible to play without having any knowledge of the universe's canon, and there is no risk of spoilers to anyone who has only seen the first anime series.

June 1983

The Watanagashi Festival is coming once again. The string of murders on this night for the past four years is fully expected to happen once again. The people of Hinamizawa are not satisfied with allowing this to continue further and are willing to do what has to be done in order to stop Oyashiro-sama's curse once and for all.

However, there are those who have other goals. Only those who have the courage to fight for their destiny will be able to overcome the curse.

Can fate be changed? Or will this Watanagashi Festival be the most catastrophic one yet?

Setup Information
a. This will be a 12p game, although I am willing to extend it to a 15p game.
b. Innocent Hinamizawans are the town alignment. Oyashiro's Messengers are the mafia alignment.
c. Alignments in this universe's canon will not be relevant in this setup.
d. Story flavor will be entirely separate from the game.
e. This setup has none of the following: Alignment-changing roles, Jesters, Cults, Misleading Roles (for example, cops are guaranteed to be sane), or any other type of bastard modding roles.
f. This setup is an experiment and has not been fully checked for balance.

Game-Specific Rules
Plot Spoiler
a. Every character is infected with Hinamizawa Syndrome and starts at level 2 of the disease.
b. If a character remains at Level 5 for the entirety of two game phases, they will commit suicide.
c. Levels higher than five are taken into account for level-modifying abilities, although they will show up as 5.
d. Some characters get additional abilities at specific levels of the disease.
e. The mafiakill is replaced with the ability to increase the Hinamizawa Syndrome level of multiple people.

Additional Information
a. Pre-Ins are now being accepted by PM.
b. The Setup is not fully finalized, and some mechanics may undergo small changes. Any public changes will be announced either before or as sign-ups begin.
c. To be absolutely clear: Any character can be any alignment.
d. Days will be seven days long, while nights will be twenty four hours long. Once day 4 begins, day deadlines will be reduced to four days each.

I'm thinking of doing on of these couple of games.

1. "They are Mafia." - A different twist on LS's "You are Mafia." game, this is a mafia game where your role is another person who is playing and what I perceive them to be. This will either be closed or open depending on what people want. Open will mean that role PMs are posted on first page and mafia are chosen randomly.
2. "Songafia PyP II" - Basically a continuation of the first Songafia, choose a song and that will be your role. Yes, it should technically be Upick but this is tradition to call it that I guess.
3. "Past, Present and Future Mafia" - I'll need a co-host for this one but this is essentially the same as ||||||||| done by Wojjan where roles are taken from every past mafia and squashed together in one game. Roles might be redone in order to balance it more so most flavour roles might not be the same as they were.
4. "osu! community PyP mafia II" - Exactly the same as it's first counterpart by 0_o. Choose a user from the osu! community that IS NOT yourself and you'll get a role that reflects on that person.

Feel free to decide which one I should do. If there are any questions feel free to ask as well.

Personally, if I were to rank Lilac's and NH's suggestions:

1. osu! Community PYP. It would be fun to be able to choose from the whole community, but the mod(s) would have to know quite a lot of people in the whole community very well to make good roles, I think.
2. They are Mafia. This is also nice, and it would be easier to make the roles fit.
3. Moderator's Mafia. This has the smallest scope of the 3 but also sounds fun. I guess I like games which are kinda meta. For extra fun, the role PMs should emulate the moderator's style.
4. Past, Present, Future. Also pretty meta, and it would be interesting to play a game like what 111111 could have been.
5. Songfia. I can't say I'm as interested as this compared to the others, but it would work out pretty interestingly.

I'll be also redoing Matrix6 because apparently the 1-shot BP got into the habit of people fakeclaiming. I'm having a look at Rob13 and Amrun's suggestion (to the MS guys) into Matrix6b and there's quite a lot of flak there so I'm going to derive a new Matrix6. Probably can put that in the notes.

honestly I don't think it's a good idea to have 3 full games going at once
2 regular games and a minigame for those who died/couldn't play seemed fine but if there's 3 regular games it seems really inactive 0.0

After much consideration, put me down for osu! (mafia) community PyP II. Anyone else is free to do other things that I've suggested. I'm also requesting a co-mod who is fairly new to osu! or at least knows the new people, I can deal with the old guys pretty easily.

What about a 7-p you pick your role game?
Everyone who joins gets an alignment (2-5; scum-town) and then submits a role. Mod then assigns that role regardless of balance.
(inb4 everyone becomes Judas)

Edit: Probably no multi-roles unless JoAT

Probably. It focuses more on how much you can think outside the box regarding your role and what tactic you could possibly have.
e.g. As scum you can pick a defensive role (like Ninja or Godfather) but you won't be able to get the more offensive roles such as Strongman.
Alternatively you can go for odd roles as scum or town.

well, every townie with a brain would submit PGO or something like that, making it impossible for scum to win.

BTW, my 12-p game will be this:

The Groups in Town:
2 - Mafia Goon (with factional kill and rolecop)
2 - Mime (with factional roleblock)
2 - Town Masons
1 - Town Vigilante
1 - Backup Vigilante
4 - Vanilla Townies

Mafia's goal is to control 50% of the votes. They can joint-win with the Mimes. They have nightchat only.
Mime's goal is for their entire faction to get lynched. They lose when any member gets killed or endgamed. The remaining member of the faction get removed from the game if one gets killed. (Game automatically ends if Mimes win.) They have daychat only. The factional roleblock should be declared during daytime in daychat.
Town's goal is to only lynch Mafia.
Backup Vigilante does not know he is Backup Vigilante and shows up as "Vanilla Townie" if rolecopped before becoming Vigilante.

Any comments on the setup and balancing issues are appreciated!

IMO if someone shoots a mime N1 it'd be hard for mafia to win as Town basically has 3 confirmeds out of like 8 people. but that would require a lot of luck

town can't join win with mimes, right? (e.g. if a mime is alive when all the mafia are dead town just wins)? just looking at it, seems each side has a good enough chance of winning, so I'd say it's fair

Setup Information
a. This will be a 12p game, although I am willing to extend it to a 15p game.
b. Innocent Hinamizawans are the town alignment. Oyashiro's Messengers are the mafia alignment.
c. Alignments in this universe's canon will not be relevant in this setup.
d. Story flavor will be entirely separate from the game.
e. This setup has none of the following: Alignment-changing roles, Jesters, Cults, Misleading Roles (for example, cops are guaranteed to be sane), or any other type of bastard modding roles.
f. This setup is an experiment and has not been fully checked for balance.

Game-Specific Rules
Plot Spoiler
a. Every character is infected with Hinamizawa Syndrome and starts at level 2 of the disease.
b. If a character remains at Level 5 for the entirety of two game phases, they will commit suicide.
c. Levels higher than five are taken into account for level-modifying abilities, although they will show up as 5.
d. Some characters get additional abilities at specific levels of the disease.
e. The mafiakill is replaced with the ability to increase the Hinamizawa Syndrome level of multiple people.

Additional Information
a. Pre-Ins are now being accepted by PM.
b. The Setup is not fully finalized, and some mechanics may undergo small changes. Any public changes will be announced either before or as sign-ups begin.
c. To be absolutely clear: Any character can be any alignment.
d. Days will be seven days long, while nights will be twenty four hours long. Once day 4 begins, day deadlines will be reduced to four days each.
I'm going to make a couple quick comments before this goes into sign-ups.

1.

Game-Specific Rule b has been redesigned. Everyone is aware of their HS level at the start of each night phase; this value will apply to the rest of the night phase for ability requirements. If they are at level 5 when night starts, they will commit suicide at the end of the night regardless of where their HS level is at that point.

Also, I'm willing to elaborate on my inducer mafia setup to be more balanced and more friendly as well. (Limiting killing roles cause they suck hard.) Anyone wanting to try a themed (maybe open) Inducer Mafia: Ratboy Genius Edition The Real Deal?

I srsly thought this right after the game started. ofc then it was too late to change it..

now that I think about it, that problem exists even in the original setup the minigame came from. if it proceeds to 3p LyLo with Jester alive, town can't win either. >_<// I'm a bit surprised that's not on wiki (or mb no one found it out till now 0.0) but I shall never give up on my quest to make a balanced enough setup with a Jester :>

I'm thinking of running a 7p Open game after the current 7p mini is over, setup would be the 7p version of Masons and Mafia.

3x Vanilla Townies, 2x Mason, 2x Mafia Goon.

Game is Nightless.
Nor scum nor Masons get factional communication.
Any of the 2 scum may PM the Moderator at anytime during the day to kill a player, if the player is Mason, the Player dies, if the Player is Vanilla Townie, the shot backfires and kills the scum instead.
Whenever a Scum makes a kill or a lynch is reached votes reset and the day moves to the next day.
If both Masons are dead, Town loses.

I'll let you host that, and by the time you're done I shoooould have enough time to host 7p vengetown.
Hosting starting this weekend would be better for me, but if you would rather go next then you can.

Not entirely true IMO.

Jester should play to their wincondition (Only a skilled jester would pull this off though, Look scummy enough to get lynched but not scummy enough to be noticed as jester)

Mafia try to find town between the 2

Town try to find mafia between the 2.

It's not entirely a draw. More like some kind of russian roulette.
