[Shulin's Hard]

Hard? come on, this is clearly insane (4.95 Star), it has some lovely jumps, on top of the jumps some are tricky and two nice death streams, please rename the diff.

For a insane this plays nicely.

But

For a hard? Way to hard. :/

I cant find anything wrong with the placements.

Just beyond insane. Its these types of maps that give me nightmares.

Here is my suggestion, rename Shulins diff to Insane, and yours to something appropriate, like... Beyond InSaNe

For the audio lead-in, i'd suggest setting it to about the same time as Shulin's difficulty to make the beatmap play in a more organized manner. Once everything you need to fix is done, let me know and i'll recheck for a rebubble.

01:10:053 (4) - Inconsistent with previous two. Either remove this, or add notes on blue ticks before 01:09:084 (2,3)

00:22:007 (7) - Too close to 00:21:068 (4,5,6)
The streams seem a bit out of place and too hard when compared to the rest of the map. It just feels a bit off, so you might want to consider that.

There seems to be a large difficulty gap between Normal and Shulin's-Sane, considering the streams and jumps. You may want to consider adding another difficulty that incorporates a bit of each, perhaps toning down the streams of Shulin's-Sane with triplets or something similar. Overall, though, I quite like the maps, and I wouldn't mind if they were ranked as-is. Also, add the tag to your skin.ini so the sliderball mirrors the image when it hits the reverse arrow.

Very good song and map :) Very fun to play, (and nice skin btw... like the DDR arrow as the ball :D )

Green = Timing/Beat Placement
Red = Snapping/Spacing
Blue = Misc/Suggestion


Easy:
00:42:209 (4): End of this slider is unsnapped, you should shorten it so it either ends on the red tick at 00:42:406, or on the blue tick at 00:42:505.
00:55:235 (2): This slider might sound better you moved it over so it started at 00:55:038, then lengthened it so it still ended at 00:56:024.

Normal:
00:18:130 (8): Might sound better at 00:17:932, so it starts with the vocals. (Move closer to 7 if you do this.)

Hard:
Didn't find anything on this one.

Shulin's Sane:
Nor on this one.

Insane:
Didn't find anything on this one either. (Although I admittantly find Insane diffs hard to read.)

My recent bubbled map got popped because I don't have hitcircleoverlay.png. Don't make this mistake ok ? ^ ^ Either make one or force default skin under song setup -> storyboard.

01:04:70 - The kiai fountains by itself here wouldn't make much sense with the fact you're going to use it about 2 seconds later. Plus, it would look more like kiai spam here as well.

One more thing..... why is "Shulin Xgor *for skin*" in the Source? You could put "Shulin Xgor" in the Tags instead and add "Thanks to Xgor for the skin" on the main post. Also, why is the Preffered Skin not set to default for the difficulties? Make sure to check into that as well and then forum PM me to do a recheck for a bubble.

Fine. One suggestion:

01:22:007 (1,2,3,4,1) - Move it up a bit to line the 4 up with the combo before it?

[Normal]

Same thing as before.

00:31:094 (2) - Maybe line this up with the endpoint of 1 a little better.

[Hard]

00:19:070 (4,5,6,7,8) - These looked too spaced out for 1/4s. (either that, or I just sucked there)
01:05:079 (5) - Looked a bit weird, since you didn't have anything at slight angles before.

kk I think it's pointless to give a map that many 1s, however bad the map may seem like.

I actually interpreted your statement to mean beatmap quality in general, to which my response would be try to mod more.

If you comment was directed against the beatmap itself I have no problem with that, but it would be more constructive if you explained your statement. That way quality can improve and future “damage” can be avoided.

IMO opinion, all because this map actually makes you move the mouse doesn't necessarily make it a bad map. I mean its ok to put crazy streams, for example, Kanbu, Marisa Kanbu, and that hatsune miku map.

I agree with Shulin's statement. I mean 5 BATs said it was fine, and other people had plenty of time to look at it so i do not feel any sympathy for them. Plus how does it help me in the future if you don't say whats wrong. If you say "terrible, terrible damage" well what the hell does that mean, because apparrently its ok to have deathstream's "galore"

It's not that it's a bad thing to be original, those streams are really plainly ridiculous, it's hard without being fun, it's Nintendo Hard, it's unnecessary difficulty, it's possible but it's too frustrating that it really it isn't really worth much of the trouble to go around it, there are a ton of ways to make something difficult at the same time not to become a nuisance. I'm just throwing my opinion here and I'm not saying I'm Mr. Right here either, just speaking out. Aside from those streams, I found the map pretty okay though.

I know that the map is hard, but i don't why people don't complain about 20 seconds deathstreams at bpms over 170 and aren't there maps harder to mine too.

After I went through the whole map I came to realise that you need to build your sense of mapping up. Although marisa and kanbu both have deathstreams, their existance make sense, but I can hardly see the relation between the song and your map. No matter how hard the map may seem like, they MUST be based on the song itself.

Next time when you begin a map, you may listen to the song a few more times before you begin to put objects down.

He is just giving some advices, he might not had managed to mod your map while it is at pending, but it an advice is still an advice in the end. It might help you better in your next map, who knows.

Understandable, but just kickback and relax, it's already done. :P
I haven't seen the map personally to understand WHY it was given such a low rating, but at least people are willing to make note of what they didn't like. I think that's better than going, "why low rating?!?!?!! D':" and no reason at all.

true, but I know now that people despise "back and forth" streams.

Edit: maybe i should have said earlier was that. People, in general, had the opportunity to look at, and how do i know whats defined as too hard or too difficult for this song. Sometimes i think what would happen if some "popular" mapper mapped this song.

Ill guess just stick to the style that i mapped rei zero and heatstroke in

People with low play counts probably really haven't seen a majority of the insane maps out there so they don't know what's good and what's not good to put in an insane difficulty. And because of that they usually end up being way too hard, not hard enough, or just an unintuitive mess of shit.

I'd like to say trial and error is a good answer for this since once you get negative feedback on something you'll know what you did wrong and can correct/avoid that in the future. But honestly there's what, 30 SP or so invested into this map? And not one modder said anything about the pointlessly large spacing and unnecessary streams? They don't fit the song at all to be honest - all you're doing is making it hard for the sake of being hard and not for the sake of a balance between fun and hard.

Thats why i ask a variety of people for their opinion, i asked BATs for their opinion on that difficulty.

Edit: i turned down, the difficulty and thats only 1 person out of how many that didn't like the streams and i thought they fit with the song. by the way have you listened to that part of the music by itself, It does the same thing that i mapped. so apparently 6 BATs aren't enough

so would this http://osu.ppy.sh/s/9003 be considered an acceptable insane

This exactly, the insane is rankable (hence why it was ranked), yes the streams were OTT and the difficulty was spiked but so what, people are forgetting there are four other difficulties on this map. Are every single one of those difficulties that bad that they deserve that many 1 stars? (On an unrelated note what ranked map deserves a 1 star anyway?)

The streams did fit the music, I had them in my difficulty although not as intense, if a lesson has been learned it is that people don't like super insane?

I don't think you should blame it all on the BATs about bad streams and all that, considering quite a few of them showed their opinion by saying it is a mediocre map (alright, they weren't exactly DIRECT about it... but I could tell they weren't exactly thrilled). whymeman had made note in his notes that there were some pretty bad spacings and your map wasn't exactly fun.

Nharox was not the only one that made note of the maps' qualities when it was still in pending. Daru has done so as well... and it seems like alvisto had something about the streams as well. strager seems to have made a few interesting comment.

I'll admit that the modding process was not as thorough as the criticisms given now. Since now that it is actually ranked, the real players finally reveal themselves to criticize a map that they had previously thought did not exist (there are a lot of maps to go through in the pending).

And @Shulin, I'll agree with you here and say that I think of most the people here tend to rate judging by the hardest difficulty. :P

Hahaha, alright, let me put it to you this way. I had a map that I felt exactly the same way as you do right now... and guess what, it is still ranked. :P

You are just going to have to think whether the criticism is worth taking to your next map, this map is done and over with and it'll be there unfortunately.

And hey, ratings aren't exactly everything... there are... uh... you know... maps with lower ratings than your's.

Well, you are just only on your 2nd ranked maps. People makes mistakes here and there. :)

And truth to be told, most mappers don't learn their mistakes AFTER ranking anyway, regardless of the players. It is because when you first make that map, you can't help but to think that it is the best map you had made ever or something along the lines of that... it takes a few days or weeks until that veil goes away.

I can tell you that I think most mappers have a map that they wished they had done better on, so, don't fret, you are not the first one. Just keep mapping and improving on your techniques. :)

you can't expect everyone to mod your map and you can't expect everyone to check your map before it is ranked. it's not possible.

To ask yourself (Is my map fun to play)
I guess the answer is YES for most people
I thought http://osu.ppy.sh/s/3661 is fun to playone year ago (I think it`s a crap now)
I thought http://osu.ppy.sh/s/4155 sounds good one year ago (come on my diff is a holy crap)
I realized that my maps are not good enough because of low rating (7.9~8.1)
Why can darri and Al make so high rating maps (i start to learn/copy their style)

After few months mapping i realize one thing
I am not a fucking native mapper

It is the 10000% true my old maps are really really bad (but i still love them so much because they are parts of me)
I got some ways to improve my mapping skills

1.play more
you may say wat!!! but it is really useful,i don`t mean to play one song 65535 times lol
there are over 2000 ranked maps,come on just play those maps,you may find some good stuffs
you can also improve your playing skill,it is a very important factor to make a good insane map

2.copy
James told me that he is a copy king,he copies things he loving and uses in his maps
copy is not that easy, if you use an idea in a wrong song,people may loooooooool
to understand WHY they do that in their maps is the basic thing of copy
in other words: USE YOUR BRAIN

3.Find test players
pick some people to play your maps(not pick some people to mod your maps)
some people just use edit mode to mod maps,this is the worst modding way
maps are for play not for mod(We mod
when i make an insane map i will pick 10~15 people to play it (#10~#1000)
when i make an normal map i will pick 3~5 people to play it (#100~#5000)
I will spec and ask what they are thinking

4.Work with other mappers
I learned a lot when i work with kiou2+Al-Azif,we share our mapping ideas

5.Think about mod posts
Don`t just change things what people say,pick the really useful modding

you are really a lucky guy because you have a kow rating map
you have a chance to improve yourself
some new mappers had a high rating first map (8.8~9.1),so they start to think that they are pro mappers
but if they really think things like that,they will stop improving

I will mod your another TERRA map anyway
