I have been thinking about having some fun lately, so here is a new queue. This queue will ask random (probably difficult questions) that will test your abilities to do various things. In this way, I hope to give everyone the chance to get a mod.

Rules:
1. You must post the answer to the question and the map you want modded in a single post.
2. Only first correct answer will get a mod each round.
3. I might stream your mod.

Round 2: (Hard Difficulty)
Solve this math problem: (There are 2 possible answers I am looking for, however if you interpret anything incorrectly, that is your problem xD. As a heads up, this problem does require some high level math)

Well, i tried to solve it but didn't succed. I will still give whant i found hoping it would help someone. I don't think it's forbidden to do so but if it is, delete my post.

The first thing that i noticed is the *.
I don't think it's a multiplied because otherwise he/she/whatever would have wrote ____ ( (____(____ ____ ____))²)
* is a lot of thing in Mathématics!
It can represent any binary operation in a group,
it can express the convex conjugate of a focntion (if ____(____ ____ ____) is a function)
it can express the dual of a space (if ____(____ ____ ____) is a space)
it can express the conjugate transpose of a Matrix (if ____(____ ____ ____) is a matrix)
etc........
But it's not a multiplication imo.

I don't really understood this one. The only day "Math realted" is Pi day so maybe it's Pi the answer of this one but i don't think so.

Before being edited it was "per second" and i thought the answer was s^-1 but "Over time" i don't find anything about it.

I think number 3 may actually be a joke about Half Life 3 (some say Gabe Newell is scared of the number 3 lol)never released, so if I'm right it should be 2. Remember it says Valve game and not a Steam game.

5. I found per second to not exactly be what I was looking for, so I changed it to over time. Both of them will lead to what I am looking for, but I feel over tiem is clearer.

5. Over time ---> ^t, given the previous matrix, it could be translated as the transpose

I'm pretty sure I may be wrong with the overtime term, but I lose nothing by trying.

Tip: 2 and 6 is li(x), the logarithmic integral function. The song starts with "Listen to my song", and the first syllable is clear.

if F means frequency then the answer is 2

As a hint, the answer requires you to figure out what the first clue actually means. The hint in itself is super easy, but what the result means toward the question...that is up to you to find out.

Also, sin is slightly wrong (among other things that are wrong xD).

F doesn't mean frequency so let's try the most complicated thing F could represent..... Why not the Fourier transform? Everybody notes it $\hat f$ but it can also be written as (peppy! Go install Latex on osu!)

Then, sin is wrong. -GN had another idea but i don't like it. It's not complicated enough. Let's try another function pronounced nearly like sin..... Well, sgn of course..... Or, sinc or sinh but let's choose sgn because this function is more fun.

So we have to find the fourier transform of sin(2 x Pi x t)*sin(2 x Pi x t). But what * mean? Like i said in my first post "multiplied" is nonsense. Beside it's not complicated enough so i will suppose that's the convolution!

The fourier transform of a convulution is the product of the fourier transform so the answer is the fourier transform of sin(2 x Pi x t) squared.
So, the answer is:

Answer key:
1. F (Class F, this was fairly simple)
2. Sinc (Synchrogazer -> Sync (approximately if you go by sounds, even though properly it is syn). From there, I usually see sinc and sync pronounced the same way, so that was that)
3. 2 (As stated before, this was the running joke about Valve never releasing a game 3 for most of their series (L4D, TF, HL, ...)
4. pi (Hatsune Miku giving day = 3/9, 4 days after: 3/10 + 4 = 3/14, pi day, I should have said 5 days after or offered some clarificiatio here, sorry about that))
5. f (over time or per second is a measure of frequency which I will shorten as f)

Now the most difficult part of the problem was figuring out what the problem was asking. If you solved the clues above, you should have

F(sinc(2*pi*f) * sinc(2*pi*f))

Now if you got the f and sinc, you probably could have guessed that F was talking about a Fourier transform (2pi is usually in problems relating to it as well). If you got that, you pretty much solved the problem and can get an answer

If you read the intro, I said there were 2 possible answers, and this comes from the vagueness of the * sign. This could be either a multiplication sign or a convolution symbol. If you have taken courses regarding Fourier transforms, you know that the transform of 2 things of multiplied with each other is their transforms convolved with each other, and the transform of 2 things convolved with each other, is their transforms multiplied together. With that knowledge you can either get F(sinc(2*pi*f) convolved with sinc(2*pi*f)) or F(sinc^2(2*pi*f)). The transform for sinc(x) is the rect function, and the transform for sinc^2(x) is a tri function. Since I never mentioned what f was exactly, I wasn't too concerned with anyone getting the constants in the transform right, all I wanted to see for the answer was a rectangle (2 rectangles multiplied with each other is still a rectangle) or a triangle, which was why I said you can give the answer as a drawing.

If I made any other mathematical errors, I am sorry. It was 1AM when I wrote the answer, and I am not that strong at fourier transforms.

A sidenote that it's uncommon to write the variables separately in a convolution representation but (f*g)(t) would be more common so I tend to put it as a multiplication.
