I'm sure I'm not the only one who absolutely loves the new click counting for the key overlay. Although I'd just like to make a few quick suggestions and give other people a chance to show what they think as well.

1: Perhaps we could have a "total clicks this session" counter somewhere. B it on the main menu or somewhere on the song select page.
2: Along with number one there could be the option to have the key overlay show the total number of key clicks in the session not just the song.
3: The option could be added to disable the click counter on the overlay and have only the keys as they used to be. I don't see the point of anyone wanting to do this, but to each their own.

That's all the idea and thoughts I have for now, hopefully someone agrees. Although I'm open to discuss any other additional ideas as well.

I also want the click counter to exclude all the clicks done in breaks because clicks in the breaks aren't affecting the gameplay and it messes up the total counts when players have the habit to spam buttons in the breaks (like me).

I don't mind being able to click during the breaks, I there any reason not to be able to? I mean yeah people could just want a number of button presses to complete the song. But there are no leader boards for clicks so why limit people on enjoying themselves and clicking fast for fun?
This could be another toggle option. I can see arguments for both sides.

The current counter counts all the clicks done including those in breaks where there are no notes. I have a habit to either press the keys along with the music or just press them randomly during breaks. Since the counter counts all these random clicks I do, the total gets really messed up to the point that they're completely useless for what it's supposed to do. For example, despite the fact that I alternate keys on almost every note in high BPM maps, I get way more counts in k1 because I press it with the music at break. I can try not pressing the buttons at the break, but what if I was watching someone else's key press? They may not care about counter and press the buttons as much as they want and ruin the count for those that are curious about their total clicks. This destroys the purpose of the counter, and if you want to know your total button press throughout the map including the breaks, then just download/make some program and start it off at the beginning of the song or something, not really necessary to be implemented in osu! in my opinion.

Yeah, I see exactly where you're coming from. In my opinion it isn't a big problem though. So I can see who there would be a split of opinions throughout the community. Again, perhaps an option to disable break or not disable break clicking? Although if one had to be chosen above the other I would disable clicking on breaks.

1. Perhaps display it in #userlog? Not sure if it'll be useful for something, though.
2. Well, if it's already displayed somewhere else, then I don't think it's needed.

So basically, you want key taps are taken into account only during draining time? Then you should support this feature request.

I agree with a lot of what was in the thread above ^
I enjoy just randomly clicking or tapping just to see numbers rise.
Meanwhile other dont. But either way the numbers don't affect score. So it brings me backto thinking about a toggle able option.

There's not really much point in making the click counter feature toggleable - people know which key is which, and if you don't like the counter, just ignore it or switch off the key overlay.

Yeah... I suppose it's true that there's no point in making it toggle-able. I'd mostly just like to see the counting feature expanded.
