For setting up a game, I think a hour the thread ready.

For prepare all of the player, usually 2 - 3 days.

For the game, depends on the deadline of the day and night, I think total a day and a night is 10 days enough. Depends on how many player, usually 9, so the maximum 40 days. Can lower or higher.

I suggest we focus on newbie games first.
Get alot of people to play mafia again. This does not mean we will only host newbie games though... We can still make other games, though we would have priority to newbie games.

Regarding this. We should have a signup topic for newbie games. Similar to the signups in http://forum.mafiascum.net

The player list of each game would have:
6 newbies
2 Semi-experienced players
1 Inexperience Challenged player.

Semi-experienced players (Or SE for short) are players with experience but are not fully qualified to be "teachers" of the game. Basically these are not-so-newbie-newbies. SE players can also be experienced players but don't have the "patience" to teach newbies the get-go of mafia games.

IC players are very experienced players who are in charge of teaching the basics of mafia games. They should be nice as well. But they should know how to separate being nice and playing the game. They must also be commited to play mafia. Finding an IC is hard enough. Finding a relacement for one would be a nightmare. With regards to starting a newbie game. We would need a new topic which focuses on sign-ups for newbie games.

A list mod is required to start this. A list mod governs all sign-ups for games. They must keep track of game-ins and mod-ins. And the list mod is the only one with the authority to give you permission in starting the game. We should make a sign-up queue similar to this: http://forum.mafiascum.net/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=21345

The biggest problem here is people who sign up and sit around inactive. Big sites can easily replace people, but we almost always have problems around here. I'm actually surprised that the two replacements in the current game are actually active, most replacements here post even LESS than the person they replace.

Yeah i didn't do much on my first game since i had no idea what i was doing, but the thing about newbie games is that there should be at least ONE person that is willing to teach them.

IMO i think it'd be easier for people to get introduced to mafia on mafiascum rather than here if they really want to learn the basics. The 2of4 setup is just a newbie friendly setup, but for a newbie game to exist, we really need someone in the game giving advice as well as playing their role, do you know anyone in here with enough experience and will to do such a thing?

Edit: I can be an active player, but if threads are pretty dead like the current game, i don't feel much reason in posting just for the sake of posting, we really need to find a way to bring motivation to people to play.

Game Setup/Desciption:
1) Would be a 15p Game. (Or less depending on the number of people who are joining
2) Due to the complaints of having short deadlines, Day phases would be 7 days. Night Phases Would still be 1 day.
3) This is an experimental setup.
4) It will NEVER EVER BE A BASTARD SETUP (No Jesters, No Cults, NO LIGHTNING ROD PGOs )

Game-Specific Rules:
1) Each player would be given 1 card Each Day.
2) Card distribution would be given at random. The stronger the card is, The rarer it is. (Card strength would be based on this list
3)Card usage will depend on which card. Some can only be used during the day, Some during the night, Some at any time, And some activated automatically (Passive Cards)

Sign-ups:
1) NO SIGN-UPS ARE BEING ACCEPTED AT THE MOMENT.
2) This message is merely an advertisement and, of course, posted here so the mod queue will not be disturbed. The final setup is not yet... erm... "Finalized"... Hence, any kind of sign-up, pre-in will not be accepted.
3) Sign-Ups/Pre-ins may be available in 2 weeks time or so.

Additional Information:
1) Most probably, It would be 12-Town 3-Scums.

fyi I wasn't kidding when I was thinking of TH Mafia V. It's not going to be PYP though since that's hell to balance. I already have a preliminary 12p setup going and basic balance tests passed., but I'm not going to slot myself into the queue yet without a little more testing.

If possible, I would like to ask for someone's help to be setup reviewer and/or co-mod. If you agree to help me be a reviewer, you will not be allowed to play the real thing since it's Closed Setup. A co-mod would basically be checking night action resolution, but that's not as necessary.

I'm willing to do either; I'm not going to be playing any Touhou mafia games either way since I have basically no knowledge on it.

I'd be all for a Touhou mafia, cause I srsly have never been able to play a Touhou mafia that's finished...

I'm going to post here for a newbie setting that I just thought up.

This setup is called 4^-1. It's named after 4 possible setups with all town roles being 1-shot.

Since we want to focus on day play as opposed to night play so hence these are the following possible setups.

2 Mafiaso, 1-shot Cop, 6 Townies.
2 Mafiaso, 1-shot Doctor, 6 Townies.
2 Mafiaso, 1-shot Watcher, 6 Townies.
2 Mafiaso, 1-shot Town Roleblocker, 6 Townies.

This eliminates things such as follow the cop and just general reliance of power roles. However, it does bring on the sense of mafia not having much else to do and essentially have only the night kill to help them in terms of roles so I'm trying to figure out something else. Comments are appreciated.

This is almost mountainous though, since 1-shot is barely enough town-power, especially if the Doc/RB setup was selected since there's 0 investigative roles and the chance of a successful protect is incredibly small.

1-shot Cop seems fine for me, but 1-shot Doctor/Watcher/Roleblocker don't seem powerful enough imo 0.0
maybe I'm just biased against cops cause a skilled enough cop generally = town always wins or gets at least 1 mafia

I disagree there, the Watcher is even stronger than the Cop. It's easier to find a pro-town to Watch than a scum to Cop.

Jinxy is essentially right, the Watcher and Cop are almost on par with each other.

If I changed the 1-shot doctor into a 2-shot tracker and the town RB into a 2-shot one as well, would that change anything? Information could be gathered through logical deductions of what happened in terms of the roles anyway. I don't want it to be mountainous but at the same time I don't want the game to just rely on a role.

Mountainous can be very fun though just saying.
