We have something that completely locks the positions of notes. I think it would be extremely useful to have toggles for coordinates too, so we don't need to worry about the coordinate changing when we're making straight adjustments. It would save a lot of time when you need to adjust notes with Distance Snap/Grid snap off.

The Basic Idea

Lock x: X coordinate will not change when this is on.
Lock y: Y coordinate will not change when this is on.

Again I would find this feature incredibly useful if it were implemented, because a lot of my time is spent trying to ensure my notes are perfectly aligned. So every adjustment with grid snap off, requires coordinate adjusting to ensure the notes remain lined up. Grid 4 is also hard to work with on my small monitor. The usage of both would be improved with this function in my opinion.

I can imagine it working very well.

Right next to the x and y coordinate will be locks. When you lock one axis you can only move in the other axis. When you lock both, you're locked on one spot.

Temporary disable the x/y axis lock: hold the Alt key, which also temporary disables/enables distance snap (depending if you've toggled it or not).

I think it's time to get more attention to this idea. This and the ability to undo after testplaying will save me the most time while mapping/modding. It's not that difficult to implement. Please consider this.

Imagine how annoying it is to map with grid snap off, and you need to move a note left or right without changing it's up or down position and vice versa. It's really annoying that you need to be pixel perfect. This is especially relevant when stacking perfectly, if I get the x perfect, it's really annoying trying to adjust the y coordinate, because it's likely the x coordinate is going to go off again trying to get it perfect.

Support, since I'm using a 640 x 480 res to play and map. Getting those pixel-perfect co-ordinates would be easier with this.

I think you should reduce this down to 1 button, lock on axis and not lock on axis (with putting your mouse pass 45 degrees being the switching point) because there is no time in time where you need to have both X and Y lock unless you have a stack, which is already automated.
