Hello and welcome to the first episode of "What's that Base?"

Episode 1: ~~Malayz~~ Security and Layout

PROGUY has quite a nice looking base from the outside. How pretty!



Better yet, the front door is wide open! All it takes is a leap from a nearby hill!

Here he is next to his life savings! It's a shame he's away from the keyboard!



It's funny, with 9 land and 10 power, if someone were to kill him he would lose it all!

He has more than one floor! How fascinating!



Oh it looks like he's expecting more faction members! Looking ahead I see!

i've tried logging in with a mineshafter account and an actual legit account, but i can't seem to get in. pls help ~(>'w'<)~ domo arigato (and yes i did link the accounts.)

make sure the name of your linked account is the name of your mc account - there is 0 room for error at the server end

There's been some talk about iconomy, which would do that, but dkun would have to convince eph to add it back. I think the biggest hurdle in that case would be dealing with updates - the current setup only requires waiting for bukkit test builds after an update, instead of stable builds + several plugin updates like the old server.

Oh, wait, not buying claims, buying power, I mean. Would it be possible? As long as it's controlled (cap or something), it shouldn't make some factions too overpowered.

I think that's not necessary at all. 10 Power per member is actually good enough. For factions with only one person, he alone can already take up quite a good space for a decent base with 9 used Power (48 x 48 claimed land). If there's not enough room, you could just either find new recruits or make your base taller.

I'm also against currency systems, because I like the fact that people should find a way to get their own resources in nearby lands and then perform trades in spawn, just like how it works similarly in real life (TM).

Joke aside, I assume you mean not being able to spawn diamonds out of mid-air by paying a sign or something, and I can agree with that. Currency between players is a lot more flexible than bartering though.

Buying things unable to get in survival for exorbitant prices like spawn eggs was great though imo. Maybe do the same with monster heads

How did that happen anyway? Aren't claims protected already? It'd take a lot of tnt to total a claimed area.

I took a quick look over there to see the damage. It looks more as if the person lured creepers into the weak points of the claim(s). So it would be best to watch how you build from this point.

Also, a Wal-Mart was built

Faction members tell me someone is going around raiding and putting signs saying "acme rules" (our faction) because we killed the ender dragon first or something?

Jeez. It hasn't been 3 weeks yet :o

I better start crafting up some crazy ideas then.

Edit: FFFFFFFFFFF- is the server having issues right now? No one can get through as if the auth plugin is having issues or the connection of the server is down.

My base has been griefed/raided as well and there's a sign outside saying "Acme rules!". I thought the base was supposed to be protected from outsiders, but nope.


I will assume with the proof above that Acme are the ones who did it. If they aren't the ones who did it, provide evidence.

Well, like I was saying in the MC Chat, neither i nor You can prove we did or did not do it
a sign is no proof in anyway as ANYONE could have put it... not to mention none of our members are dumb enough to put a sign like if we did raid...

Reminds me of the time someone put "whymeman was here" in Valhalla. Just after logging in, I get called a bastard (and some other rude names) Till I said "Hold on. How can I place a sign when i'm NOT in your town to be able to?"

Of course, the person felt foolish to assume something true on something that wasn't inspected thoroughly. But whoever it is is by chance the same person who caused some damage in the old world too. But, it's not like we can find each other's Factions that easily since DynaMap isn't loaded in.

After thinking about it for a while (and reading some of the replies here in this topis), I'll take back what I said earlier and I apologize to Acme for accusing them.

I'm still pretty much angry that my two weeks of hardwork of gathering and organizing a lot of stuff (rip 1 stack of obsidian) is still gone though. I'm now currently suspecting Ashilax (JAKACHAN in osu!) because he's been a total ass to some of us in the server.

Edit: Added some sky lands to explore for fun. Will look into adding more stuff to keep it interesting. I won't tell you where it is though.

IIRC he marked those factions because they were close to the end portal so he could be first to the end.

IIRC it's literally where jaka claimed land.
Also TouhouLv9's base is split into numerous parts. There's a snow and desert portion, possibly more, haven't checked recently. I have coordinates for both since I keep track of that sort of thing.

In my defense I am using one of the worst graphics cards ever (intel...why you make built-in graphics) so I am on the lowest graphics settings, that's my excuse anyway ;) On default skin atm too.

Those are some nice pics I have to say though.

And it all runs on realtime @ something like 50-70 FPS \o/. Thank god for Kepler.
(Minecraft can't handle SLI though, so I could actually make it a lot better with it...)

As a person who had access to his early versions of dungeons/castles/whatnots, they can be hard.
But most of the time, the reward is worth the risk.
For example, if whymeman copied his old version of floating island and did nothing to the original ones (2 jungle tree islands and 1 small sand island), the islands have a lot of ores and hidden chest contains nether star(s) and other valuable things.

Lol. That was made more from my personal copy. I didn't really add extremely rare stuff in them this time and plus, if one was to claim the spot as their own, that would be the actual big bonus right there. As for what's in it, it's up to the person that gets there to look around as much as they can. Though, if the TMI was added to the server itself, I can recreate the Doom Tomb within 3 weeks minimal (it's that huge).

Well, I ALMOST finished that Ghost Ship except for the fact I had one miscalculation that took out the whole ship...... ( ; - _-)

I think http://dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/mychunk/ is better than using factions for protection and why not add http://dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/mcmmo/ for a bit of RPG on the server since some people like RPG :P

Right now I only found out about this server was from another player. I think you should use websites like http://www.planetminecraft.com/, http://minecraftservers.net/ and http://topg.org/ to let others know that this server exists
Information about the server
From reading the first post I do not know if this is a survival or creative server and if PvP is enabled or legal. You should also state the rules somewhere and explain them with great detail because there are noobs out there who think griefing is legal and there are exploiters who find loopholes in the rules and abuse them. You should also have Ban appeals and Ban requests somewhere so people can lift their bans if they were banned for dumb reasons and people can ban others for doing illegal things while staff members are off.

This is a private Serve for osu! Players only. That means this server is obviously not going to be in a public Minecraft Server listing.

Secondly, we don't need extra mods. The last map went to hell because people wanted too much. If players are banned they can always appeal to one of the Minecraft Server admins within osu!.

As a alternative solution (while waiting for the more stable dev build) you could download the 1.5.1 minecraft jar-file.
When you replace the one in your User/AppData/Roaming/.minecraft/bin folder with this jar, you can just get on the server again.

One way to get the this jar-file is downloading it from this site: http://mojang.com/2013/03/minecraft-1-5-1-pre-release/

@ Stig: Are you the one with the glass front underwater? If so, you're lucky I got lazy about claiming and looting your turf out of inactivity. =P

EDIT: Also, IRC integration seems to be lagging the MC server the most, Web Chat causes my browser to hang.

I have both jar files, it would be nice to have the servers I play on to have the same jar file because most of the servers I play on have already switched.

Went ahead and started a small project from the SafeZone. You may have already noticed the two bridges that branch off from that island already, but I've just started on the West Bridge path as well to make it easier for migrating (seeing due to the fact it's hard to tell there's land when there's nothing but water for a mile or 2 with no boat while most migrated East). Of course, it's only going to make it *slightly* easier to travel since the SafeZone area will be limited at the West Bridge compared to the other two.



Note: West Path isn't complete yet.

I quit after building a huge impenetrable base a few thousand fucking blocks out of spawn and realised I wasn't in any danger in the first place

Having factions in a server that has had like 1 true faction fight since it's creation is a bleh idea. Instead, it also allowed TNTing bases when people were offline which isn't particularly fun for the victim. Faction fights aren't too nice when you lose (source: me), but at least it had some engagement, which this server lacked when I was playing it.

Of course, please do state if a large faction fight has happened when I was away, I'm curious if anyone even dared to do that

Kert told me about it. It's a pitty what happened and I must agree to that.
Though, I don't care because is is boring anyway. No player online, maybe max. 3. But we know that from the past.

No chance to make once an advertising in osu? Or does ppy disallow even that? /swt
Well, makes me to buy the game for real servers. :p

i am tempted to revamp the server with the latest tekkit/ftb build in a domed, finite area with a maximum of 3 factions to promote conflict
