So I'm making "my own skin" by using the elements I like from other skins, for personal use.
However, there is one sound, the whistle.
I really hate that whistle, I used many files from other skins, but the whistle just doesn't leave.

I tried
soft-hitwhistle
soft-sliderwhistle
normal-hitwhistle
normal-sliderwhistle

All are NOT whistles at the moment, it's still on every beatmap I play.

I've noticed a problem with the Skin I've been working on, when I have the Visual Settings unticked "ignore beatmap skin" the note colours stay as I assume the creator of the map made them to be.

but when I tick the "Ignore beatmap skin" the colours of the notes change to default colours, like when you are making a beatmap, it's already got colours picked out and you can choose to change em or not,

I tried to see if I could change it by messing about in the skin.ini thing but no luck, I know it's nothing major I'm just somewhat of a perfectionist and I kinda want the note colours to be whatever the map creators picked.

(Also I know that this map already uses my skin as default, I felt it was better using this as an example seeing as it shows the notes changing colour even though it's the exact same notes)

Any suggestions? :X

Ignoring beatmap skin also disables beatmap combo colours and allow to use your own.

In skin.ini you can set your own colours of combo. You can use up to 8 combo colours.

[Colours]
Combo1: 240,240,0
Combo2: 255,255,255
Combo3: 255,190,0
Combo4: 120,0,200
Combo5: 0,150,0
etc.

Correct.

There was a request somewhere in "Feature Requests" subforum about separating combo colours from beatmap skin in visual settings.

A lot of changes and new behaviours in new default skin. *sniff* Updating all my skins to new style will be pain in ass. :/

Ok, about the sizing.

The particle image size, not quite sure but for me but it should be as smaller as better.

The new mode image size: 128x128 is the best imo.

Please consider that i'm using wide screen 1366x768, so not sure about that.
Waiting for MLGnom or anyone else tested it xD

Where is the default skin located now? Also, I noticed the trail on the new skin grows from last hit circle to next one instead of just popping the entire line at once, how do i enable that in my own skin?

The new default skin is at the moment only available in the .dll-Files, that were downloaded in the updater, but peppy already announced that the new skin will be available as template-skin soon, so..just wait a bit.

Honestly, i still prefer a fully-transparent score after hit a note like before this update than.
The new particle should be as smaller as possible or it can become another visible score 50, 100, 300 ._.

It causes me a lot of lag while playing and it is getting kind of annoying.

if you done it right, particles won't block your hitcircles.. particles goes on the bottom of the hitcircle anyway.. ._.

which part that turns to red? I see the edge of the new spinners including the spinner centre turns red.. I'm still didn't get it.. ._.
nevermind.. I just did some quick test and this is what I got..
this is what I set for the spinner (I didn't skin spinner-glow atm)
this is what I get:
  1. spinner-middle goes red as an indicator on how much time left did you have to spin, and it goes on the VERY TOP of the spinner.
  2. spinner-middle2, spinner-top and spinner-bottom spins as usual and does what it said.
  3. you can still use spinner-approachcircle, it does what it used to be.. ;)

Someone decompiled dll's, took practically every graphic sprite that exists in osu! and shared it, so some of them are not skinnable.

Please don't redistribute it publicly. Wait patiently for official template.

Well, playfield.png is still used in few old maps that doesn't have background.

i tried renaming the bg of a map, and osu! displayed a black background instead of playfield.png (song selection)

It only works when map doesn't have any bg from beginning. If you remove bg from map it won't work.

You can try removing the BG and putting in playfield.png and rename it to BG.png. Not sure if this works but it's worth a try.

This icon was made originally to full transparency as it wasn't a mod. Also appears in multiplayer screens if other time-based mods are enabled.

I should be the same size as the mod icons as it appears as an extra mod but doesn't appear on nomod.


I made mine wider cause didn't like it overlapping with the mods cause I am just putting some random image there.

Dash in CtB uses "fruit-ryuuta.png". If you made animated catcher, you need to add base sprite of your character.

fruit-ryuuta.png - will be used as dash (might need some positioning if you want to make it correctly with animation.
fruit-ryuuta-0.png
fruit-ryuuta-1.png
fruit-ryuuta-2.png
fruit-ryuuta-3.png
etc... are animations of your character. This is the only one exception where animation overrides base sprite.

What do you mean by "change font of the skin"? Font of what? Score numbers, texts, etc. or the font that osu! uses almost everywhere?

So that way, you can't change it. And I'm pretty sure you won't be able to change it in future.

osu! uses the font "Verdana" which is one of Windows' System Fonts (if i'm correct)

It is non-skinnable and definitely no one can change it.
