I've wanted this before. I've seen maps that can benefit from it. Support for sure.

Also, any feature has potential for abuse. That's why we have our friendly BAT members to point out when we've gone overboard! It'll be fine.

Had this request idea for a while, and I want this so much.

Especially when there is songs that switches between 1/4 and 1/3

There is also stuff where the song asks for it too.

this idea would make the maps more nature, since different patterns need different tick rates to fit in. though maybe just sometimes, but it's obviously an useful feature.

It would also be nice to have AIMod show if this has been used in the map (something like "change of tick rate" in the Style tab). That would make it much easier for modders to find possible abuse since it's way easier to overlook something small like this in the Timing Setup Panel~

I think most situations where you'd want to use this, an actual BPM change would be justified? Mostly, you'd be switching between rates 2 and 1-- 1 for very soft sections.

I'd rough it out with tick 1 for the sake of the players. Tick 3 would be too busy sounding for that.

I encountered another case right now where this would make so much sense and be so nice. Okay, I'd need Tick Rate 1.5 for it to be absolutely perfect, but we'll see about that.

you should half the slider velocity too, with that. And people say it break the offset (somehow)

I'm currently mapping a Taiko for a song that switches between 1/4 and 1/3 snap and would like to use sliders/drumrolls in all sections. So far I've been using Tick 1 but that creates 1/4 drumrolls in the 1/3 sections. Now that I know that 1/3 drumrolls are possible I'd really like to implement them.
At least switching between 1/4 and 1/3 associated tick rates should be enabled, other tick rate changes could still be limited to red lines only and with heavy restriction on their use (since I do agree that "randomly" changing tick rates can be confusing)

Tick-rate is based on the bpm. I'm not sure if it should change while inside a song..
Halving the bpm would be a solution is the song swings that way.

Ticks usually keeps the flow in a map.
If they sound noisy/disturbing, lower the volume a bit or change the ticksound to something more comfortable (e.g. soft-slidertick)

1/3 songs might be a different thing though.
But in the end, doubles are very common in such songs, so tickrate 1-2 would still be good.

Half BPM for this reason isn't allowed.

The point is having the sound of ticks, but with the possibility to set another tick rate accordingly to the music and without sinlencing. (For example in map that have 1/4 and 1/3).

This feature should be added :c

As many said, it's useful for songs that have changes in 1/2 (or 1/4) and 1/3, using tickrate 1 sounds empty in 1/2 parts, tickrate 2 sound bad in 1/3, and tickrate 3 well, you know. And that kind of songs are not too rare (at least I've seen many of them).
