If you add a red slider point to your slider (at any point in time), you will never be able to remake that slider into one of the perfectly round 3 point sliders. You'll just experience the old slider behaviour.

confirming

add a point:
remove one point from the red point:

Confirming, too lazy to upload screenshots but yes, it's happening, I missed the old sliders though, but I don't like them :c

Edit: Not only with red nodes.

Try do this.
1. Make a typical 3 points slider
2. Add 1 node wherever.
3. Remove whichever node.
4. Hello, old slider.

This is intended behaviour. The slider will only change types during initial placement now. Is this awkward?

Yes. Most mappers place the sliders straight THEN they start adding the curves to it. As of now, this is impossible.

I'm afraid not many agreed with this before it got released to the public, so please try to get some opinions and see if this is really what would be the correct behaviour.

Making a straight slider then adding points seems wrong. That's not how the editor is set up to allow slider creation. Why is this your preferred placement method as opposed to placing the points all at once?

I guess you're right, at least for me. I always just recreate my sliders if I want to have different slider points.

making complex slider shapes will be impossible now
what if i need to add more points to make it the way i want?
or maybe if i changed my mind and wanted a curvy slider intead of a straight one?
basically if we forget something we will have to redo the whole shape
this IS annoying
i'm not always 100% sure about the final shape of the slider so we should have the chance to change without having to redo everything and without changing back to bezier
since bezier is not the deault format anymore, why forcing it just because you removed one point?

Also, why was the old behaviour 'wrong'? It was fine and allowed every kind of slider to be chosen in an easy way. Now it's just annoying to try to make a slider and having to remake it just because you started it wrong.

This will be fixed next release. The new behaviour was mainly to change the saving logic to make sliders easier to handle in non-official osu! ports, so I have modified it to not change placement logic for now.

For the record I always create a straight slider and then add the third point. I guess it's just habit. I want to choose where I want the ends first and then I make the curve later.
