Well yes you don't really need to know about programming to use any Linux distro, unless you want to rice them to the point where a script is required.
Also better stay away from Arch if you want things to work straight out of the box. Arch is a bleeding-edge and minimalist distro hence its stability and reliability issues.
Gentoo is like the expert level of all distros; it's really hard to install and has highest chance of installation failure. You can even spend a whole day only to install this distro and end up reinstalling because something was wrong during the process.
