I starred shitty maps that had funny videos, then I commented on a bunch of skins, then I found off-topic. I wouldn't recommend any of that.

I made my first post being bored.
I never even made an introduction thread, but I seem to be pretty well known now anyways.
The best way to introduce yourself or make a first post seems to just let people know who you are, what games or other backgrounds you are coming from, and other miscellaneous information you may or may not feel compelled to add. That's how I would've done mine.
A first post generally doesn't have to be anything special or wordy. As long as you set a nice topic for discussion it's all good.

Go for fifty posts now that you've introduced yourself. That's pretty much what I did.

It wasn't until a couple of months later (and nearly a year of playing in-game) that I got involved in the forums.
My first post was the intro to a contest (osu! Idol) I hosted. I think it was a great way for me to meet and interact with many people in the community and I had lots of fun.
