lly intentionally by the uploader just so they don't get deleted

(...don't really know which board to post this :| )

I'm not supposed to care for this kind of stuff, but for some reason this just ticks me off, mainly because AMVs that are using clips from some animé become flipped and the AMV just doesn't look as right anymore :/

It's because copyrighted content can't really be posted, so they flip it. Either view it in a mirror or don't view it at all, if it bothers you.

I know that they do it and why but most of the time I don't even notice it

Exactly this.

I had my channel deleted with 40+ videos on it because I didn't flip the videos.

Fucking Funimation.

Why are you even watching anime videos on YouTube?

They must do that to evade copyright issues, it's basically a loophole.

You've got to be considerably new to the internet to be watching anything of this sort on Youtube.

I'm not, I'm just watching some fanmade stuff/modifications like AMVs and those things; it just surprised me how some portions of the video are horizontally flipped, orz

If you really wanted to you could download the video and re-flip it yourself with a video editor.

There are also Gameplay Footage and Trailers, or any other videos that are affected by copyright that are flipped horizontally to evade infringement.

LOL I just remembered my computer monitor does this thing where it can flip images. Those who are bothered should really look into this.

...so while posting this I spent a good half hour looking for the answer (maybe 20 minutes). Really is no universal answer to flipping your screen or display, the only way to not get annoyed by this is to downloadthe video and flip it yourself. This is a bit annoying, but if you're willing that'll help. There's a lot of ways to rotate the screen, but mirroring is another thing.

I had to do that once
(flip the video)

Sorry, I would laugh at anyone who regularly downloads anime from youtube and uses a program to flip it back.

To dodge copyright rules. But sometimes, even flipping isn't enough to keep a video from being taken down from the profile, or even the youtube profile altogether.

i dunno why they'd bother uploading flipped videos in the first place. as soon as i see a flipped video, whether it be an anime episode, anime opening or amv, it just annoys me and i stopped viewing immediately. i don't know if anybody else is like this, but yeah: flipped videos = me not interested at ALL.

I concur.

You can flip a copyrighted video--mirror it horizontally--and post it on YouTube without fear of it getting taken down (although there's no absolute guarantee that someone out there won't). YouTube has some kind of loophole in their terms or something that doesn't include flipped videos.
