I think it would be good if you get messages for lost places in osu! just like the message on your profile when you got a top 500 rank on a map. The messages could be private and look like this:
To avoid massive overspam there should be a cap @ the top 40 ranks.The messages should not be shown on the main screen on your profile more like in a special window or tab so it wont overflow your profile and it should only be applied to favorite beatmaps.Or there will be a new function to "mark" or "follow" the beatmap and when you activate this the beatmap will be checked and you will get a message when you loose a rank.
The reason behind this is simple. It often happens when you dont play for 1 or 2 days and you go online you have lost some pp. This is mostly because someone has beaten your rank at some beatmaps.(and its pretty annoying to look for them
). This would make it much easier to get your ranks and pp back 
.
