Riviera The Promised Land was a game I personally liked, nice characters and story.

but the best rpg would probably be something like Final Fantasy VI.

Symphonia was my first and I actually wish they kept the Unison gauge - I really liked that. I've only played five Tales games but I've yet to be disappointed with any of them.
With Vesperia, I spent most of the time with the unskipable extras and synthesizing every item in the game. We (my sister and I) missed a few things and skipped a few others (we didn't bother with the arena and anything that really only included one player at a time).
Troy Baker voiced for Yuri and was amazing. =) I don't think I've heard that reason for not bringing the PS3 version to North America though. Could be true. We just know the PS3 version won't come to us, which is a little saddening.
Oh yes, Troy did a an excellent job as Yuri. I'm actually pretty sad that we won't have a chance to try out Patty or Flynn in the PS3 version. Even thought we did have Flynn for a bit during the 360 version, it still wasn't enough. I really wanted to try out Patty cause she a little girl with guns! Who doesn't like that combo?! But with the extra's they added and including some new parts; We will never get to see it or even try it out. (Sadness)

Symphonia was one of my favorite games for the GC and finding the PS2 version is kinda hard to find (to bad it wasn't in english) The ending battle (and the music) was interesting.

My sister wanted to use Flynn - she used Repede in the XBox360 version. I doubt either of us would have used Patty.
GC had a lot of games I liked - Mario Double Dash, Mario Power Tennis, Smash Melee, Soul Calibur 2, list goes on.
Abyss I actually played for N3DS. I was looking for the PS2 version for several years but never found it.
I agree, the music was indeed nice.

I enjoyed using Yuri, Rita and maybe even Judith in Vesperia. in Symphonia; It was ether Llyod, Collete, and Shina. I can't even find Abyss for the PS2...sadly ; - ;' but I did found it once and I didn't have the money in time! kinda made me upset.

I use melee in any game I play... literally, any game that involves combat. xD
I used Yuri or Judith in Vesperia, Marta in Dawn of the New World (since my sister used Emil), Sophie or Hubert in Graces f and Lloyd in Symphonia.
Oh yeah, Abyss for PS2 is impossible to find - at least around where I live in Ontario. After a few years of looking, the N3DS release was announced and I was soooo happy, lol.
Oh damn, I woulda been upset too. D=

Heh I like the Tales series as well and my favourites are probably Symphonia and Abyss. But my favourite RPG has to be The Legend of Heroes IV trilogy.

Sidenote: It's a shame that Xillia will come to the west in 2013 and Japan would already be on Xillia 2.

It's more annoying when I hear people going around saying how good it is, who import it or something. =/
Aoriki
Oh man...I get jelly when people say they have the game already in there hand but in Japanese. Only way they play it is with a script (like I plan but I may just wait for it to come out next year) Xillia 2 coming out sometime the summer of next year, I think.

'RPG' is a pretty general game type nowadays, imo.

Deus Ex, Deus Ex:HR, EarthBound and the Castlevania games for NDS

I really, really like RPG platformers. Anyone know of some good ones?

Edit: gosh, I guess I'm talking about "action-RPG", where many of the Zelda games would fall in.
That's the only type of RPG I can handle.

So Ima throw out Resonance of Fate (End of Eternity). Which is probably one of the most fascinating games to me because of the simple fact that it's not extraordinary in hardly any way, the story is pretty lackluster, and the combat system is incredibly difficult to learn with poor tutorials and an unfathomable difficulty level. Yet the design, voice acting, and overall fun gameplay has brought me back to play through this over 3 times and I have never played games fully through even twice save for games like Left 4 Dead. Something about it is just so well done that even after beating it I crave coming back to it just to see the characters again.

Classic: Fable.
and... Dragon Age.
Cyrith_old
Fable 1, neverwinter nights 1, diablo 2, if you can count that as an rpg, i suppose skyrim and oblivion ill include just because they managed to be rather effective time-sinks (i excluded morrowwind as i never got the chance to play it properly). Blue dragon on xbox360 was actually half decent if you downloaded the free hardmode dlc. ME1>ME2 in terms of rpg elements. Avencase was a weird game but fairly interesting. NIER was rather good, and a massibe mindf**k. I finished nwn2 motb earlier, which was considerably better than the official campaign. And it goes without saying that pokemon is awesome. As well as the touhou version. Which is what my current avatar is from.

Would anyone be able to name a few really immersive RPG titles (preferably for PC, i dont mind if they are older)? The kind of timesink level that skyrim had, without it being buggy as hell and having an incredibly broken skill system (level 100 stealth perk much?). The kind of 60+ hour baseline playthrough time, with hundreds of hours if you take the time to really explore. The kind of world you get sucked into and spend days playing. Also anyone know where I can find monster hunter, and what platform(s) I can find it on?
angrychameleon
