Cyber crime prevention law which is Republic Act 10175 will stop or prevent such act through the internet--cyber pornography, hacking, fraud, identification theft, sex scandal video, and the one that they included is libel. Anyone who violated such law will be punish accordingly and with stiff implementation of the law ra 10175.

Controlling what you are allowed to do under penalty of law is what people like to think is "protection". This shit has been circling the globe for a while and it has failed in what... every single place? But I suppose if there's money to be made or there's people they think they can control and dominate they'll try. On a semi-side-note it's a classic conspiracy theory that the internet can never be allowed to be controlled by certain underground groups because it is a safe discrete way of communication and information gathering if done intelligently and that were we to have the internet in past events things would have been vastly different on a communication standpoint alone, since we may be separate but through a magic series of tubes we are all connected. So what were to happen if that connection were severed and controlled.

You are saying about the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012 ??

Well, I don't know much about this issue because this is an issue in Philippines, but I'm in Malaysia.

ANYWAY, in Malaysia, there is a new section called Section 114A in the Evidence Act 1950 becoming Evidence (Amendment) (No2) Act 2012
We really hate this new section and this poster created by few Malaysian in few months ago:

Luckily, I still can access (almost) all file sharing sites (except Megaupload and some other, etc.) without any problem even after MCMC blocked them... :P

Yes, I agreed with you, I'm also disagree with any and all "cyber crime"!!

you know, INTERNET SHOULD BE FREE FROM ANY CENSORSHIP, ANY ACTS, ANY RULES OR ANY LAWS!!! ~.~
NO MATTER WHERE YOU ARE LIVING IN, ON THE EARTH OR AT THE SKY!!!
(I mean if we can use Internet as an astronaut)
And this means I also against the Cybercrime act (Philippines), 114A (Malaysian) or any others!!

Above quotation was taken from Wikipedia article with title Censorship in Malaysia in section Internet , but I still can access WikiLeaks.. -__-
And FYI, I'm using Malaysian ISP

Blah blah, censoring the internet is evil. Prosecuting real people in real life who do real crimes using the internet as a communication aid is fine.
Cyberbullying is real but needs to be taken care of IRL. No censorship law can work.

"Internet is the only place that has no Religion or Laws."

I stick truly to that, CyberCrimeLaw,ACTA and this crappy law is brought up just because of money which is bullshit
Professor Prinny
My family in the Philippines are against CyberCrime Law and so am I because i'll be going back there in a few months so I'll be needing the internet since i'm bringing my laptop with me and go play some DotA and Dota 2 with my cousins and share some good times.

I'm also wondering what happened to 'Freedom of Speech'.

If people keep trying to oppress us, they'll eventually send us far enough underground that the majority of people like us all use the deepweb and nothing more.

It's quite sad really.

I seriously don't get how they can not see the bad consequences this would raise
Elit3noob
this crybercrimelaw should just be f#$%ing Annihilated
Jazz
i don't see the point of this thread since like what NoHitter said, there is already a thread about this in tagalog subforum

and this law won't concern people from other countries
Azure_Kite
Actually, setting precedents for things is usually a bad idea globally.
