Ouch..... I guess they have to go under some long-term maintenance then.
kwakkevin
I just confirmed that the server is back online.
Stefan
Alright, someone griefed at Valhalla, I name you some things what got destroyed/stolen:
- The Woll carpet of mine and JInxyjem's house got stolen.
- Most of the pumkin laterns of the town got stolen.
- The plantage of the town got farmed up without re-planting.
- Wall parts of bulidings are missing.
- My glowstone got stolen. ;_;
- Animals got slaughtered in big rates.

I don't know who that was, but this is definitly not cool..
The last time I was there was on wednesday at night, and there everything okay.

Screens of the destruction by a f*cktard

I hope this person dies on aids.
Bass
Since we have MC auth I hope peppy or someone else from admins can figure out who touched that.
Stefan
Technically, someone of the town. Because outsiders can't do anything there.
buttersea
If i find out who did this, i will pk the living hell out of you.
Markie
So lets narrow it down,

People that I know wouldn't do it.

Markie

buttersea
Jinxyjem

foulcoon

Others in the town that I don't really know

Chi Kyzi
Antonstle
jesse1412
emaal
MinecraftModify
MaDBugxD

Hopefully a admin could check the last time the users listed above have logged in, between Wednesday-Thursday(today).
Bass
foulcoon wouldn't do that, he was kind of admin in osu(and he is alumni)
Markie
Okay so I found out who did it, I guess he wasn't smart enough not to put down a locked object which you could see whom owns it.

And of course he's checking on this topic, thinking he got away with it.

Everyone in our town lost hours of time because of what Emaal did, I hope a admin will serve justice on his behalf.
Liut
lol Emaal
Emaal
Before you start blaming me, Markie, get your information right. You can blame me, when you have checked what account emaal, is linked to.

Also, ever heard, that browsing this forum, could be another topic? What do you think I am, paranoid? Lmao.
Markie
It's pretty ironic how you're checking this very topic ever so often, notice how you're here posting now. What's with your sudden interest in this topic? Oh right you vandalised our stuff.

Also being that your osu! account is 2 months old I'm sure you possibly linked it to an alt.
Emaal
Because I know the person whom did it, Jesus Christ matey, are you paranoid?
Markie
If you know the person why wouldn't you just post it then?
Emaal
I'm not a snitch. Find it out by yourselves.
buttersea
Nah Emaal is just too pussy to fess up to it.
Markie
Keep acting like a child. I posted the facts that I've seen from in-game, if you didn't do it you could've simply said you didn't and corrected it by stating who did, since you're friends of whom did it.
Emaal
I'm gonna love it when you actually check which account it is linked to.
silmarilen
emaal didnt do it

the simple solution is probably to just ban emaal and jesse1412, and every account they've made together and/or shared

Unfortunately this does not apply to Towny and lwc, so what emaal said might be true.

A chat command like /who <minecraft name> or something to find whose osu account is linked to a certain mc account would be pretty cool

Also, Towny has a thing that allows members of the town to "buy" plots from the mayor and get the ability to modify rights for that plot iirc. This should be used more in light of recent developments, I'd say.

@Ephemeral: I tried to use the "/tc" command in order to talk to the people of my town but it doesn't work... Could it be a server related issue?

The town is getting bigger and I need to talk to more than 1 people so I cant /msg everyone :<

Just want to make sure of this since this is conflicting with the plans I had to do. If one was to set an outpost for their town, would the resident tax apply then or no? I just want to make sure upkeep and tax rates are actually on or not. :|

Edit: Went ahead and took a snapshot of the scenery. Looks really nice from the tall mountains from that view.

Allow teleportation and /back?

its really annoying cause I keep losing my f***ing stuff.

Also allow /tc AKA town chat.

We don't like to hear spanish in the general chat.

(Nothing wrong with Spanish people, I just want others to talk English.)

Allow /back to get back to your death point please!!
I don't like losing my stuff, I agree with iYoonaRawrx

I'm not sure about /back command, but I would love to see /tc.
Not that velper and other spanish-speaking people are bad, but sometimes their chat messages start to hinder my vision.
As for /back, if it is gonna be added, it should cost more than $5.
Jinxy
How to not lose your stuff: Don't die
On the event of failure to not die: Get to your area of death in 5 minutes

Death has always been penalty and should stay that way. It's avoidable most of the time if you're attentive enough, and stuff can be retrived quite easily as long as it wasn't deep underground. I've only remembered one death where I failed to get my stuff back, and that was because my iron armor broke in an abandoned mineshaft and I didn't notice.

I lost a diamond sword, 2 diamond picks (I took 2 because 1 was wearing out), what I mined out including 2 diamonds, all my steak, and probably some other important-ish stuff in that incident. I still stand by the quote below.

$100 might seem too much. I think $50 sounds reasonable.
Jinxy

VelperK wrote:

Should be even more, like 200-500 so that people can't use it every time they die. They have to consider if what they lost was really that valuable to them that they are willing to spend that much, instead of "herpderp I died due to my own negligence let me just spend a little money to get my stuff back every time"
VelperK
okay then, make it $300

(im such a negotiator)

The bug seems to happen only when you are holding a placeable block like dirt, stone etc. You could try holding a tool or nothing before you click, but no promises.

I will NOT get in this server again without a /back command. The game just makes you feel worse about yourself by making you think: "I'm such a stupid asshole, how the heck did I just die like THAT, it can't be real."

bye then

Or you could think about how or why you died, and make sure you don't repeat the same mistake. People make mistakes, what's important is you learn from them instead of pussying out and then making yourself feel worse about yourself

90% of all deaths in mc are avoidable. As for the last 10%, chances are that lava was involved so no way you can get your stuff back then.

I think $500 sounds reasonable. (Ignore whatever I said earlier in this thread.)

One more way to avoid losing all your stuff: be quick in typing /t spawn

and please add/fix /tc or /chat local or whatever. All the Spanish chat messages are hindering my vision in-game.

Except that in minecraft you don't usually learn a thing when you commit a fatal mistake since it's so utterly stupid that you weren't even paying attention.
Example: Dying because you felt down 10 blocks and didn't see the missing floor chunk that made you lose all your stuff, plus frustrating you as hell and ragequitting. That's not fun at all for me. I don't like this server lacking of the /back functionality, people wanna have fun, not frustration because they died in the stupidest way possible in earth.
Jinxy
Wait, so did you jump 10 blocks down into the void, or did you walk into a chunk that wasn't loaded and fell?

Also, did you actually try to get back to the death spot by 5 mins
MillhioreF
$100 sounds fair for /back, it's so pricey that most people will hesitate to use it but still worth reclaiming all your stuff.

Uh, no and no. And it wasn't my case, it was just to name one silly example. You can be focused on fighting some mobs here and there or you just were running without attention to the ground and suddenly fall in a trap for example. I'm pretty sure the game isn't about watching your step every second of your gameplay, that isn't enjoyable at all and that's also the reason the command "/back" was created.

Other example: you were mining in an abandoned mineshaft and you fall into the oblivion because of some missing chunk again. This is pretty much the most common case of stupid deaths.

Those are the most common instances in which you can die in a stupid way and not learn anything about it, of course there are a lot of other ones but they're linked to the context.
Jinxy

1. Not every second of the gameplay, just the ones where you're in a dangerous situation, and you should probably think: "this is dangerous, I should watch my step", not run around without paying attention. I don't take the same attitude going through a cave compared to say, running through Valhalla. One is unexplored and potentially dangerous, the other is a mob-disabled town. In real life, you'd be more careful if you were overseas for the first time as compared to being in your home.

VelperK wrote:

2. Not only is this stupid and avoidable by noticing there is a large 16x16 gaping hole in your way, I also do not see how /back would help when your items have fallen into the void. Unless you meant "oblivion" as "a deep fall into another cave", in which case, I still think a hole in the ground is pretty damn obvious and you should look out for those while explorong a dangerous area.

In conclusion: Stupid deaths are easily avoidable if you pay attention when you are in a situation where it's supposed to be dangerous. For bugged deaths like a Nether portal spawning above lava and not making a safe zone (happened to me once) or falling into the void, your items are already lost so /back wouldn't help.

EDIT: By the way, is it possible to name outposts so we can do stuff like /town outpost <name> instead of using a number? Numbers are kinda annoying because they also change when old outposts are removed.
If we can, can CURRENT outposts be renamed?

dat smarty attitude.

why is /back so hated by you, what's your problem? it's not your deal if ppl use it or not and won't affect you having fun or not so yeah, u remind me of social conservative ppl.
Cyclohexane
You know who else hated the /back command?

HITLER!
Jinxy
It removes the risk of caving and entire survival aspect of playing, well, survival if people could just teleport back when they died. I wouldn't be so opposed to it if there was just one example where a death was not caused by negligence and inattentiveness, like a glitch, but usually those involve lava or the void, like what you said with "falling into oblivion". I don't understand how /back would help in those examples, since the items are already gone and you'll just /back yourself into lava or something.
VelperK
Well you still loose your level with /back so it doesn't "removes the risk of caving and entire survival aspect of playing".
Corin
The /back command now costs 500pp of your primary game mode.
Jinxy
Levels are easy to earn back and aren't a good enough penalty imo, but I can't be bothered to argue any more. If Eph agrees then be it. I just want it to be really expensive ($500 or so) so people will still pay attention while caving instead of thinking they can do dumb crap and not lose their stuff. Too bad I never got that single example where a death was not caused by mistakes but /back was still applicable.

Sakura wrote:

Add "Don't dig straight up" and "Block off multiple cave branches to avoid ambushes" and you have just successfully prevented most deaths

EDIT: 500pp is fine too, I like that

Honestly speaking, deaths should be a learning experience in the server, not something to cry over to get corrected. If that was the case, then it would make "survival mode" pointless and just reduce your survival IQ with the increase of carelessness. If you're in dangerous territory such as a mineshaft with cave spiders or on a narrow path on a top of a mountain fighting spiders and creepers, then it would be wise to rethink a new plan or retreat to prevent a loss. If you still fail to learn repeating certain mistakes, then there's nothing else I will say about it at that point.

Also.... if you STILL want the /back function, then just prepare to be taxed heavy on it.
kwakkevin

Corin wrote:

i think, if it is going to be added, /back should cost a lot, like $300-500. Then I have no objection.

One more thing i'd like to add.....

PLEASE DO NOT GIVE YOUR MINECRAFT ACCOUNTS TO OTHER PEOPLE!

If you're done with playing on the server, then just don't play it anymore. Even if you don't play, giving the account to someone else can have you liable for any damages done.
Sakura
I have a feeling Velperk wouldn't survive more than 3 minutes on Dark Souls.

Remember your MC accounts are tied with your osu! accounts and a ban on minecraft might lead to a ban on osu! so it's under your own discretion.
Azure_Kite
I'd say threatening a ban on osu! based on what someone does in Minecraft is probably going a bit too far. Towny was installed to protect settlements for a reason.
Jinxy
No grief prevention/protection plugin is infallible, and there are still ways to grief, especially outside settlements, just no one has done it. If you do grief and get caught, an osu ban isn't going to far, since this is kind of part of the osu community.
Azure_Kite
By that logic, people that shell a specific person constantly on our Mario Kart sessions could be banned too.
