Here's a detailed list of my accomplishments in chronological order;
SPOILER
Died to a Skeleton
Died from Starvation (Learned the server was hard mode the hard way)
Made a base hidden in a Ravine
Learned the dynmap made secret bases pointless
Constructed first Diamond Pickaxe
Learned how Towny Worked
Made a poor decision on where my town was (Plains Biome over a Ravine? Terrible)
Built a poorly designed Chicken Farm
Traveled back to Azora and made my first Outpost Monument (fg. 1)
Traveled to BlueHoppip in order to get a Brown Mushroom to start my first Mushroom Farm (fg. 2)
Reached 1,000 Eggs (fg. 3)
Made my first $500 (Sold Gold Ores, some Eggs, Cobble and Dirt)
Went on a very laggy adventure to a Mushroom Biome 10,000m away
Died due to starvation lag bug 8,000m in
Traveled SUCCESSFULLY to the Mushroom Biome and my made second outpost with a Mooshroom Farm (fg. 4,5)
Enchanted my first Silk Touch Pickaxe
Brought Mycelium home and grew Huge Mushrooms on my house
Traveled to the Nether
Lost my Silk Touch Pickaxe to lava
Found a stripped, useless Nether Fortress
Made an outpost at the crappy Nether Fortresses Blaze Spawner and built a Blaze Farm (fg. 6)
Attained the 12 Eye of Enders Necessary to open the End Portal (Did not enter it)
Obtained full Diamond Armor (non Enchanted)
Crafted an Enchantment Table and the necessary bookshelves
Made a new Nether Portal on the Mushroom Biome
Found a fresh Nether Fortress
Planted a 300 block Netherwart Farm (fg. 7)
Crafted some Brewing Stands
Traveled to The End (kwakkevin located the End Portal, I activated it)
Defeated the Ender Dragon Solo (Lots of deaths, BlueHoppip and jinxyjem were in the server at the time, I think?) (fg. 8)
Built a 255 block bridge out into nowhere in The End and proceeded to build "The Ender Farm"
Made it more efficient with JInxyjem's assistance (fg. 9)
Reached max XP gain, enchanted everything
Abused the price of Eye of Enders (Which still needs to be corrected, I actually did not abuse the Ender Pearl sign) to make ~$40,000 (fg. 10)
Started a Nation
Found a Slime Chunk under my house orz (fg. 11)
Ouariasse invited a lot of people to join MC
Defended Emperor Varus' raid on my town
Started a Player Trade Shop
Prepared full Protection IV armor
Engaged Markie (had no food on me, was hungry and Ender Pearled away)
Engaged Markie again (fight was a few minutes long, maybe shorter, neither side took damage, Markie TP'd away, no Ender Pearl, probably for the same reason as I had)
Created a Villager Farm and realized Villagers have terrible trades (fg. 12)
Allied Emperor Varus and the town Dark Ages
Decided that my entertainment had come to an end

Here's a list of some numbers of things I have remaining, not including things I've used;

SPOILER
~10,368 Ender Pearls
~1,028 Netherwart
326 Slimeballs
476 Nether Brick
685 Iron
205 Gold
1798 Lapis Lazuli
257 Diamond
118 Emerald

For completions sake, I decided to grind to Level 100.

I'll probably log on to mine and stuff, to increase the amount of ore blocks I have. Once I have a large chest or two (or three) of Netherbrick I may make a large castle in the Overworld.
VelperK
ok

So I typed in my email address instead of my username, because I transferred my Minecraft account to a Mojang account.
That was wrong, wasn't it.
Damn.

I don't know who saved my shrine of the total destruction of fire which appeard because of thunder hits, but I'm really thankful to this guy!
If you wouldn't have flooded my shrine with water, the fire would probably burn everything down. Thank you unknown guy!

Couldn't make a save box for it yet, no money...

i am fully open to suggestions for keeping the server new and fresh, by the by

also planning to add a superflat creative world to the server eventually if interest isn't piqued in the survival world in a few weeks
Jinxy
I was thinking controlled PvP games like UHC and Hunger/Survival Games, but that would need moderation and schedules instead of a pick up and play thing.

Can those who have not bought the game get snapshots in any way? Would certainly keep everything fresher, at the cost of anarchy because I assume no one makes snapshot server mods
OnosakiHito
Well, I'm still fine with the PK system. I got PK'd and all my stuff is gone, but that makes the game at least a bit more interesting. I have enemys now \:D/
And I think a second server is not needed because they can find flat bioms in steppe for example. Moreover, why another server when we are allready not that many people? Would probably just split the users more and take unused space on the osu server. lol

Anyway, I was wondering if you guys could anable TNT again? Buildings could be destroyed, yes, but just those which are not in a town or outpost. It is really hard to move for example a hill without TNT. It took me hours last time.

Then it would be nice if you could add Mo's creature into the server, after it got updated to MC version 1.3.2, because with more monsters/animals the server would get more "colour". Obviously some more mods which contribute special events to the worlds nature would be nice as well.

And also I have wanted to ask if you could anable, that the owner of his village can set to one or more of his villagers the right to invite other people as well, because in different timezones, it's somtimes hard to catch the village-owner. That's also my personal favorite please. Okay that#s allready possible as I noticed now.
zertap
Damn, I wish I could get my mc inspiration back... If I had it I would make so much nice stuff, but I have played Minecraft so much already that I just am too full of it :(
Jinxy
The thing about the second world is not that it's flat, but that it's creative. Sometimes it's nice to just share your creations with others, without having to go on a resource hike if what you're building requires that.

Although I'm curious as to how build protection would work. Hopefully we don't have to resort to Towny. I've seen a good chunk protection plugin before, I just need to find it.
EDIT: http://dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/grief-prevention/
Heck, on the event of the current survival map being reset due to errors/many new things in future versions, this might even be able to replace Towny.

Also, does anyone have a problem with the server map? I can't zoom in and move the map around for some reason.

As for myself, I prefer the vanilla minecraft server, but if we start taking mod installation request from people, I think it might become uncontrollable.
But I'm in if we start to use snapshots. It would make my life easier since my SSP is using snapshot. It would save the trouble switching .minecraft folder to play one after another. And I want to ride and control pigs :3

I agree with this. I can't build any awesome stuff because It's too hard to gain massive resources for almost anything. (scaled osu! icon was my limit of pixel art :S)

JInxyjem wrote:

not me.
Ephemeral
Resources are the main problem?

I could set up infinite stores of minor resources in the spawn trading post if that'll get people building stuff.
Jinxy
What's considered "minor", though? What if we want to make more modern stuff with blocks of valuable resources? It would be easier to make a Creative side tbh, so such limits don't occur.
whymeman
Just reporting this in, but it seems there's some kind of bug/glitch with the doors in BALLZ. They keep opening and closing non-stop.... :o
Jinxy
There's a fast redstone clock under it most likely. Just an annoying noisemaker, worst case scenario being that it lags the server
whymeman
Finally after much struggle and effort (and with some help from waffre), Most of the "local" pathways is done. Just had the path done near the spawn which was a pain with all the jungle plants.

:3 you're welcome

also anyone having this issue? no one seems to be on osu!craft at this moment :<

whymeman
Is anyone else getting that plugin error like before?
Ephemeral
that error indicates the minecraft.net servers are down and the mineshafter proxy can't authenticate you with them
whymeman
Ouch..... I guess they have to go under some long-term maintenance then.
kwakkevin
I just confirmed that the server is back online.
Stefan
Alright, someone griefed at Valhalla, I name you some things what got destroyed/stolen:
- The Woll carpet of mine and JInxyjem's house got stolen.
- Most of the pumkin laterns of the town got stolen.
- The plantage of the town got farmed up without re-planting.
- Wall parts of bulidings are missing.
- My glowstone got stolen. ;_;
- Animals got slaughtered in big rates.

I don't know who that was, but this is definitly not cool..
The last time I was there was on wednesday at night, and there everything okay.

Screens of the destruction by a f*cktard

I hope this person dies on aids.
Bass
Since we have MC auth I hope peppy or someone else from admins can figure out who touched that.
Stefan
Technically, someone of the town. Because outsiders can't do anything there.

foulcoon wouldn't do that, he was kind of admin in osu(and he is alumni)
Markie
Okay so I found out who did it, I guess he wasn't smart enough not to put down a locked object which you could see whom owns it.

And of course he's checking on this topic, thinking he got away with it.

Everyone in our town lost hours of time because of what Emaal did, I hope a admin will serve justice on his behalf.

Emaal
Before you start blaming me, Markie, get your information right. You can blame me, when you have checked what account emaal, is linked to.

Also, ever heard, that browsing this forum, could be another topic? What do you think I am, paranoid? Lmao.
Markie
It's pretty ironic how you're checking this very topic ever so often, notice how you're here posting now. What's with your sudden interest in this topic? Oh right you vandalised our stuff.

Also being that your osu! account is 2 months old I'm sure you possibly linked it to an alt.
Emaal
Because I know the person whom did it, Jesus Christ matey, are you paranoid?
Markie
If you know the person why wouldn't you just post it then?
Emaal
I'm not a snitch. Find it out by yourselves.
buttersea
Nah Emaal is just too pussy to fess up to it.
Markie
Keep acting like a child. I posted the facts that I've seen from in-game, if you didn't do it you could've simply said you didn't and corrected it by stating who did, since you're friends of whom did it.

I'm gonna love it when you actually check which account it is linked to.

Unfortunately this does not apply to Towny and lwc, so what emaal said might be true.

A chat command like /who <minecraft name> or something to find whose osu account is linked to a certain mc account would be pretty cool

Also, Towny has a thing that allows members of the town to "buy" plots from the mayor and get the ability to modify rights for that plot iirc. This should be used more in light of recent developments, I'd say.

Just want to make sure of this since this is conflicting with the plans I had to do. If one was to set an outpost for their town, would the resident tax apply then or no? I just want to make sure upkeep and tax rates are actually on or not. :|

Allow teleportation and /back?

its really annoying cause I keep losing my f***ing stuff.

Also allow /tc AKA town chat.

We don't like to hear spanish in the general chat.

(Nothing wrong with Spanish people, I just want others to talk English.)
hudzell
Allow /back to get back to your death point please!!
I don't like losing my stuff, I agree with iYoonaRawrx

I'm not sure about /back command, but I would love to see /tc.
Not that velper and other spanish-speaking people are bad, but sometimes their chat messages start to hinder my vision.
As for /back, if it is gonna be added, it should cost more than $5.
Jinxy
How to not lose your stuff: Don't die
On the event of failure to not die: Get to your area of death in 5 minutes

Death has always been penalty and should stay that way. It's avoidable most of the time if you're attentive enough, and stuff can be retrived quite easily as long as it wasn't deep underground. I've only remembered one death where I failed to get my stuff back, and that was because my iron armor broke in an abandoned mineshaft and I didn't notice.

I lost a diamond sword, 2 diamond picks (I took 2 because 1 was wearing out), what I mined out including 2 diamonds, all my steak, and probably some other important-ish stuff in that incident. I still stand by the quote below.

$100 might seem too much. I think $50 sounds reasonable.
Jinxy

VelperK wrote:

Should be even more, like 200-500 so that people can't use it every time they die. They have to consider if what they lost was really that valuable to them that they are willing to spend that much, instead of "herpderp I died due to my own negligence let me just spend a little money to get my stuff back every time"
VelperK
okay then, make it $300

(im such a negotiator)

I will NOT get in this server again without a /back command. The game just makes you feel worse about yourself by making you think: "I'm such a stupid asshole, how the heck did I just die like THAT, it can't be real."

bye then

Or you could think about how or why you died, and make sure you don't repeat the same mistake. People make mistakes, what's important is you learn from them instead of pussying out and then making yourself feel worse about yourself

90% of all deaths in mc are avoidable. As for the last 10%, chances are that lava was involved so no way you can get your stuff back then.

I think $500 sounds reasonable. (Ignore whatever I said earlier in this thread.)

One more way to avoid losing all your stuff: be quick in typing /t spawn

and please add/fix /tc or /chat local or whatever. All the Spanish chat messages are hindering my vision in-game.

Except that in minecraft you don't usually learn a thing when you commit a fatal mistake since it's so utterly stupid that you weren't even paying attention.
Example: Dying because you felt down 10 blocks and didn't see the missing floor chunk that made you lose all your stuff, plus frustrating you as hell and ragequitting. That's not fun at all for me. I don't like this server lacking of the /back functionality, people wanna have fun, not frustration because they died in the stupidest way possible in earth.
Jinxy
Wait, so did you jump 10 blocks down into the void, or did you walk into a chunk that wasn't loaded and fell?

Also, did you actually try to get back to the death spot by 5 mins
MillhioreF
$100 sounds fair for /back, it's so pricey that most people will hesitate to use it but still worth reclaiming all your stuff.

Uh, no and no. And it wasn't my case, it was just to name one silly example. You can be focused on fighting some mobs here and there or you just were running without attention to the ground and suddenly fall in a trap for example. I'm pretty sure the game isn't about watching your step every second of your gameplay, that isn't enjoyable at all and that's also the reason the command "/back" was created.

Other example: you were mining in an abandoned mineshaft and you fall into the oblivion because of some missing chunk again. This is pretty much the most common case of stupid deaths.

Those are the most common instances in which you can die in a stupid way and not learn anything about it, of course there are a lot of other ones but they're linked to the context.
Jinxy

VelperK wrote:

1. Not every second of the gameplay, just the ones where you're in a dangerous situation, and you should probably think: "this is dangerous, I should watch my step", not run around without paying attention. I don't take the same attitude going through a cave compared to say, running through Valhalla. One is unexplored and potentially dangerous, the other is a mob-disabled town. In real life, you'd be more careful if you were overseas for the first time as compared to being in your home.

VelperK wrote:

Other example: you were mining in an abandoned mineshaft and you fall into the oblivion because of some missing chunk again. This is pretty much the most common case of stupid deaths.
2. Not only is this stupid and avoidable by noticing there is a large 16x16 gaping hole in your way, I also do not see how /back would help when your items have fallen into the void. Unless you meant "oblivion" as "a deep fall into another cave", in which case, I still think a hole in the ground is pretty damn obvious and you should look out for those while explorong a dangerous area.

In conclusion: Stupid deaths are easily avoidable if you pay attention when you are in a situation where it's supposed to be dangerous. For bugged deaths like a Nether portal spawning above lava and not making a safe zone (happened to me once) or falling into the void, your items are already lost so /back wouldn't help.

EDIT: By the way, is it possible to name outposts so we can do stuff like /town outpost <name> instead of using a number? Numbers are kinda annoying because they also change when old outposts are removed.
If we can, can CURRENT outposts be renamed?
Sakura

If we can, can CURRENT outposts be renamed?
dat smarty attitude.

why is /back so hated by you, what's your problem? it's not your deal if ppl use it or not and won't affect you having fun or not so yeah, u remind me of social conservative ppl.

You know who else hated the /back command?

HITLER!

It removes the risk of caving and entire survival aspect of playing, well, survival if people could just teleport back when they died. I wouldn't be so opposed to it if there was just one example where a death was not caused by negligence and inattentiveness, like a glitch, but usually those involve lava or the void, like what you said with "falling into oblivion". I don't understand how /back would help in those examples, since the items are already gone and you'll just /back yourself into lava or something.
VelperK
Well you still loose your level with /back so it doesn't "removes the risk of caving and entire survival aspect of playing".

The /back command now costs 500pp of your primary game mode.
Jinxy
Levels are easy to earn back and aren't a good enough penalty imo, but I can't be bothered to argue any more. If Eph agrees then be it. I just want it to be really expensive ($500 or so) so people will still pay attention while caving instead of thinking they can do dumb crap and not lose their stuff. Too bad I never got that single example where a death was not caused by mistakes but /back was still applicable.

1. Use torches to know what you're doing.

2. Don't dig straight down

3. ?

4. Profit!
Add "Don't dig straight up" and "Block off multiple cave branches to avoid ambushes" and you have just successfully prevented most deaths

EDIT: 500pp is fine too, I like that
