If we don't get enough people tomorrow night then we can just reschedule it to Sunday.Blazevoir wrote:
It doesn't bother me either way. It's not like the kartparties are mandatory anyway (though I'd still like to race with new people as well).
Sundays are sometimes bad for me, usually because that's when my family and I eat out (not that it's tradition or anything, but it seems like we hardly ever go anywhere till Sunday).Ekaru wrote:

Are you trying to do it on reaction? You basically need to "feel out" when the bob-omb is going to explode for the correct timing. Even then it's only worth the risk if you're on like SNES RR or something where there isn't much else you can do other than stopping completely.Blazevoir wrote:

Looking over the rules, I dunno if my internet connection's even stable.
9PM PST, that what... 6PM EST?
It varies. Sometimes it can be as long as 3+ hours, sometimes as short as 1-2 hours. As far as any additional rules go, please add kartparty to your highlights so you'll know when we're starting or when you can join in (if there ends up being connection issues or if we're starting up a new set).Justykanna wrote:
10PM? Gonna need to hole up alone in my basement and sit beside my router to get a good connection there late at night. xD
How long does it usually go until?
Aside from the rules in the original post, anything I should know?
I dunno what you mean by adding 'kartparty' because I've never done this before. I'll have to look around the multiplayer stuff before tomorrow I guess.Justykanna wrote:

More on the Skype thing: though it's completely optional, we'd love it if you could join us on there so we can rage at each other in real time
Oh yeah... The osu! Mario Kart 7 community code is over at the Nintendo 3DS Club thread, if you haven't grabbed it already. It'd also help to grab some of the friend codes there since we usually go on Worldwide if there's 4 players or less.
Uhh... Yeah... I think that's pretty much it. Everything else is usually discussed in-game. Hope to see ya there!
One person (usually me or mm) starts a call and adds others on their friend list to it. If you want, you can go ahead and add me on there. (Skype name: soaprman)Justykanna wrote:

As for friend codes, you don't need to add everyone, just as long as you've added someone in the group if we play worldwide. I'll add you if you're playing with us tomorrow night.

___Kartparty in 30 mins, blah blah blah. Make sure to get your chargers ahead of time *nudges Ekaru to add that to the OP*
So... what was up with that lag during Rainbow Road? Lol. Anyway, great party as always (pieguy, stop haxing!).
It's not like you can't look up the shortcutsJustykanna wrote:
Was a fun first time for me, regardless of being close to (if not) last every race.
Part of it is I dunno how the shortcuts and tricks that most other seem to know too though. =P
I'll probably come next week.
Well I can't exactly memorize them all.Blazevoir wrote:
It's not like you can't look up the shortcutsAlso, some tips:
* MT (mini-turbo) whenever it's relevant.
* When drifting, hug the inner part of the turn as much as possible, though be careful when doing this when there's no wall.
* (This was mentioned during the kartparty, but I'll repeat it here anyway.) When getting shot out of a cannon, hold Down to get a speed boost during flight.
* Not sure if you knew this already, but you can trick off of glider ramps to get a slight speed boost.
* Stay behind someone long enough to get a draft/slipstream (it's basically a huge speed boost that lasts for a short while). BE CAREFUL WHEN TRYING TO DO THIS WHEN SOMEONE'S HOLDING AN ITEM BEHIND THEM AS WELL AS DURING TURNS!
No no, miniturbos are something you GET from drifting. Drifting's, well... driftingJustykanna wrote:
Oh. Yeah, usually people I know refer to it as drifting. Not really MT. That I do on a pretty regular basis.

You don't actually get a speed boost from this. You go higher into the air. This can easily be turned into a speed boost since descending speeds you up, but there are a few places (Bowser Castle) where being higher up puts you at a disadvantage.Blazevoir wrote:

I can understand Airship Fortress, but I've never been able to pull that off on Music Park ._. I only get 1 each of orange and blue...mm201 wrote:
For instance, you should be able to make 2 orange MTs off the first piano turn in Music Park, and 3 orange MTs off the downward spiral in Airship Fortress.
You're likely being sloppy with your timing of left/right and pressing it too early. Try waiting until the moment you touch the ground to press left/right; it'll charge much quicker. Note that lining up the second jump properly when doing it this way takes some practice.Blazevoir wrote:

I always try to MT wherever I can. Just times like Rainbow Road, I skid too close to a corner and end up falling, pretty much sealing my fate in last place.mm201 wrote:
On the matter of MTs, try to make as many of them as you can, and try to get orange MTs whenever possible. (If you keep drifting after the blue sparks appear, they will eventually turn orange and you will get a bigger boost.) Once you've finished making an MT, try to make another one. Let go of R for a moment to release your MT and begin drifting again. For instance, you should be able to make 2 orange MTs off the first piano turn in Music Park, and 3 orange MTs off the downward spiral in Airship Fortress.
Yeah, that's the approach I took last week. Didn't work out great. =PBlazevoir wrote:
There's nothing wrong with taking more of an outer approach on a turn when drifting/MT'ing. You really should only drift as inward as possible if you KNOW it's safe.

Is there a browser-based log-in option available? Though, to get those to work on the 3DS you first have to fail a connection test before the browser will let you sign in, and at my school I can use the browser but can't play MK7.... Gah. Try talking to the IT guys and see what they have to say about it (though there's a good chance there's nothing they can do ;_;).Justykanna wrote:

And with the ones in the lecture halls / cafe, you need a program on your computer to run in the background in order to get internet (university username and password). This is something both my iPhone and N3DS don't like and have great difficulty getting internet with.
So I sad. Especially because I only started playing with you people two weeks ago. -_-'
Same here. I may join you, if I don't have to get up early the next day. ^^bomber34 wrote:

I'm actually thinking of moving the Friday session an hour earlier after this week's session to make it easier for you guys to show up. Saturday's session will stay set in stone, but with the Friday session we can experiment a bit until we get a good compromise.sasori93 wrote:
