We're the crazy ones in the beginning.

I watched until she died and stopped because I hated her so much

I don't think a reason of weight is needed to dislike a character... If someone dislikes Rena it doesn't mean that person didn't get the depth of the character, they just dislike her.

Accelerator-kun wrote:

This coming from a person with a Rena avatar can only be considered fanboy-ism, and not constructive criticism. Also, abusive ad-hominem is so not cool.

Well, seeing the person who made that statement did not provide any reason to it... Then, we cannot figure out the true meaning behind it. The "rejection" of the "hatred" is just a way of getting him to talk about his reason.

Actually, this is where you're wrong. You cannot exactly call a person "fanboy-ish" unless you have strong evidence to prove so. By evidence, I mean his recent actions towards the matter of the problem.

If he didn't reply to it calmly, then I'd assume the same mindset as you. But seeing that I know the matter of the problem myself and his reply, I wouldn't call this fanboy-ish that fast.
[iO]
Accelerator-kun is married to Rena, and by no means he addressed the dislike zanyh has for Rena itself, a simple "why do you dislike her? She's kawaii" would have been the level headed thing to do.

Rather, he chose to belittle the person who made the comment, by claiming that their dislike was due to ignorance, almost implying that to someone who actually knows the series well hating Rena would be inconceivable. I don't think I was quick to judge.

It's cute that you defend your friend though, and I have no ill intent whatsoever by saying this.

Actually, that's less level-headed than it sounds. It's like fighting fire with fire; a reason-less/subjective comment cannot be used to reply to another reason-less/subjective comment.

Actually, you're kinda right there. Someone who knows the series well would find it hard to hate Rena, unless that person has a reason that I could not think of. Rena's character isn't exactly made to be hated for; she seems like a normal (typical) schoolgirl to me.

If anyone ever hated any kind of character, feel free to provide a reason to it. It would help ease the tension between haters and lovers.

To be quite honest, I find it entertaining to politely (or not so much) discuss matters of taste, and see each-other's point of view. What made me voice my, lets call it discomfort, towards Axel's comment was that he wasn't arguing about tastes, just making a passive-agressive attack to a detractor of his favourite character (and bride).

As I said in my first post, sometimes there's no reason to dislike something, you just do. To be sneaky, and call someone ignorant for not liking something you like is, at the very least, mean; and a common practice of fanboys.

For all we know zanyh could dislike Rena's hair, clothes, seiyu... basically, an unlimited quantity of things. Knowing or not knowing Rena's background is of no consequence, that's all I meant.

I'm not too good with friends, I keep forgetting their birthdays.

Um, no offense or anything, but aren't you paying a little too much attention to Accel-kun? Besides, the people we're talking about aren't here, after all.

That means more need of explanation, right? He could have said "I don't like Rena, she's annoying" or some sort. That would've been much better than a simple "I don't like" sentence.

[iO] wrote:

I'm fine if you don't remember my birthday. Heck, I don't even care.

Just give me loli and I'll be fine.

Maybe so, no offense taken, I'm actually bored and since you were answering in your friend's regard I didn't felt like stopping the conversation mid-way, I'm being entertained, in a way, I'm paying attention to you, not him.

let's not digress this thread any longer;;;

thinking back on the animes that I watched, I remembered some bitter feelings for yoshida kazumi (Shakugan no Shana)
everytime she appeared I cringed a bit.
Maybe I just don't like helpless characters;;;

Well, sorry but after that I want to say my words, also this is a forum, made for talking... no?

Hey, I haven't replied just for fanboysm, I've replied just because I find strange to hate someone like her.
Of course, I'm saying it because I know the story behind! If someone doesn't know how the story goes, it's obvious to find her like an evil character.
It's also true, after spending (virtually, of course) more of 80 hours with she (Visual novels, anime and manga too), I'm bonded to her (Higurashi really hitted me, I feel bonded with ALL characters from Higurashi) and whatever you do I can't admit to hate her... because I know how she is and FOR ME it's a very deep character, the one you can't hate if you have something called heart.

Also, please don't think "he's simply a fanboy" after looking my signature. I always defend characters when I can (of course, I explain my hate for them if is necessary).

For example.

Merumi wrote:

Do you think it? Try to see from her viewpoint.
Yeah, she is a bit annoying sometimes, but look how the story goes for her. She lost a friend and a brother. Plus, in the animeshe die at the end. I don't hate she, she's just realistic imo.

God, too much heart breaking things here... I need some of THIS.

Still subbing? Poor guy.
I have to sub the first season of Yuru Yuri because the actual italian ver is unfinished and has a horrible translation, plus I will have to do season 2 too.

P.S. Sry epic long post, but I don't like to be called "fanboy" when I explain the reason of my opinion :/
P.P.S. Want to think that I have no life after reading this? I don't care.
[iO]
That answer is reasonable enough. But you forget that maybe people can dislike things for reasons other than "she's evil", she could be disliked for not being evil, for example. If it exists, then surely it will be hated by someone for any reason eventually. In the end, it's just subjective stuff, I was pointing out the intent of that post, nothing else.

More so, what "having a heart" is, also is up to debate. Some people could not relate the same way you did to Rena. I particulary liked her, mostly when she's acting crazy, though.

I liked your P.S and P.P.S down there. You're in an Otaku Culture forum, discussing this sort of stuff, that's what the forum was made for and what you're doing. I see nothing weird.

I didn't meant to offend you by calling your behavior "fanboy-ish", I just couldn't label that post any other way.

What was that all about? Leave the poor guy alone, he probably had a good reason to hate Rena.

Anyway, I watched the first season of Strike Witches and I never felt so much hatred for a character until I saw Perrine.

Perrine is stuck up and the only thing she did throughout the series was complaining about every single thing. Is it supposed to be a comic relief? It wasn't for me, it only made me cringe.

We're not bullying the guy, we're just trying to get his reason or hating her.

As you can see here...

Even you actually have a reason to hate a character. And you stated it clearly.

So I wanted him to state his own reason for hating Rena. A new opinion opens a new world, right?

A lot of people didn't state their reasons and yet you didn't made a huge deal about it, but when someone mentions Rena everyone is like "omg why ;__;". I don't understand that. Anyway, that's not important. Carry on.

That sums it up pretty well "Don't hate what I like, or else!". In any regard, I'm done defending a guy who isn't defending himself, I'm just a tad too knight-ish to be good. As Dulcet said, carry on.

Either I didn't know the character, or zanyh just happened to have a bad luck.

Yeah, that kinda sums it up. And I was just defending my good ol' chap. No worries needed.

Moving on.

Akise Aru from Mirai Nikki, reason?

Ava_Lanche wrote:

That image failed miserably, but if your reason was the kiss he passionately gave to Yukiteru, I have 3 things to say:

1) Yukiteru had been running away from a girl the whole series, he totally wanted it.
2) It's impressive that even though Akise liked a guy, he was way more manly than the main character overall.
3) Akise was, plot wise, the second best character of that train wreck, regardless if you hated him or not.

Now, if that wasn't you reason, then I'll be quite surprised XP

Talking about hate, I wonder if the author wasn't smoking weed when he created that xbox huge diary owner. I swear at first I thought she was wearing a suit, I could not come to terms with such a terrible design choice.

Well at first when I saw him on chapter 8, I was like "OMG he's so cool!". But after watching that part I was like.. "Oh god why..". Basically I don't like if he's gay :(

Yup, I figured that was the case.

the entire cast of guilty crown nah just limit to shuu and inori (if you can call her a character), because they were really bad. in the first half of the anime, shuu was a whiny bitch, and in the second half he was batshit insane, and both charactertypes are per se not good for a protagonist, and then he was one of the worst protagonists with those attributes.

and inori? well, she doesn't have any personality, and for the femal leadrole, this is actually a big flaw.

True, but I still like Guilty Crown.
The show was confusionary but it wasn't bad at all, I liked it.

Guilty Crown was overall bad, plot-wise, it felt as if they were throwing random stuff at us. I would totally watch it again though.
