I use Train because of its max acceleration, extremely tight handling, and long MT stat. I use wood instead of roller for their better offroad, plus my use of a featherweight character and Paraglider means I get the highest possible acceleration anyway.
You can use a time trial kart combination, but it's a gamble that you can get to first place, hold it, and hope not many blue shells come along. Time trial karts use one of the top speed frames (usually BDasher, but sometimes Zucchini, Blue 7, and Bruiser) with either slick, red, mushroom, or gold wheels. Slick/gold have the best speed, slicks have better handling/MTs, gold have slightly better offroad/underwater, reds are best offroad (which includes snowy/rainy tracks), and mushrooms have better handling.
Woods are like mini reds, rollers are like mini mushrooms, sponges are like mini slicks.

Thanks for the tips guys. I actually was planning on focusing acceleration and miniturbo, I'm just not that familiar with the miniturbo stats for each part which is what I was gonna use the stat calculators for.
I'll see if I can pull myself away from my newly-gifted Kid Icarus and Xenoblade at some point this week so I can get a nice kart setup going for next week ^_^

Also, I started playing on WW again. Is it just me, or do most of the people who pick Metal Mario with that overused combo not know what they are doing? It's like they just pick the combo they see used all the time in TT and copy it because they think this is Mario Kart Wii, completely forgetting that this game has different mechanics.

So, this is probably gonna sound extremely silly, but I thought about a way to make things a bit more interesting for our next kartparty:

Also, if any challenges involve more than one race (ex.: Try and hit me with a Blue Shell 3 times within 3 races), you'd get a point for each successful attempt. Whoever has the most points from these challenges wins!
Now, like I said before, this is just something silly I came up with, and you don't HAVE to do this. I just wanted to try something that'll probably make things a bit more competitive (and possibly more fun) even though you don't really win anything out of this. To be honest, I didn't think things through and will most likely scrap the above idea, and here's why:
- This will definitely requite a lot of concentration on my end, so I honestly don't know if I'll be able to track each hit properly.
- I suck at creativity, so the challenges will probably be generic (though if I try to add anything complex, it'll probably ruin what place you'll end up in).
- Since mm usually "does Time Trials" during most of the races, the challenges wouldn't be fair on his end.
- The above idea (first spoilerbox) was something I typed out of boredom.

Are you trying to do it on reaction? You basically need to "feel out" when the bob-omb is going to explode for the correct timing. Even then it's only worth the risk if you're on like SNES RR or something where there isn't much else you can do other than stopping completely.Blazevoir wrote:

My computer's in my room on the top floor of the house and the router's in the basement. Chances are, if I want a good internet connection, I'll need to be in the basement but that's another thing I'll have to test out. How do you join rooms in Skype, never done that before either.

As for friend codes, you don't need to add everyone, just as long as you've added someone in the group if we play worldwide. I'll add you if you're playing with us tomorrow night.

I've 'favourited' the osu! community in Mario Kart 7 and added the kartparty to the osu! in game highlighter (thank you bomber).
