Both of the old threads for Nightcore have fallen behind in terms of updating it to reflect the recently ranked maps. I've contacted both Jericho and osuplayer, and they seemed disinterested in continuing the management of the project. So, I'll appoint myself to do it!

FAQ

1. What is Nightcore?

Nightcore had its beginnings in two boys from Alta, Norway. Thomas S. Nilsen and Steffen Ojala Søderholm mixed techno/dance music into a more upbeat sound and named their band "Nightcore". Over time, the word has come to be associated with a subgenre of music that is characterized by a sped-up melody (sometimes), fast rhythmic beat (usually), and higher than normal pitch (always). This is remixed not by the original band, but by fans of the original who then upload their music to sites such as Youtube.

2. What's with all the anime girls?

I dunno. I think they're cute, though.

3. Why is it so popular on osu!?

I haven't been around far back enough to answer that, but I can speculate that the faster, more pronounced beat makes for challenging maps.

4. Where can I find more Nightcore songs?

Google is your friend. There are countless versions on Youtube, but the quality of what is there may vary.

5. There's this song I want to Nightcore, can you do it for me?

I personally can't, but I'm sure there are people who know how to do in the osu! community. Ask around! Also, you could check out http://www.nightcoreuniverse.net/, which is the self-proclaimed "BIGGEST Nightcore fan community on the web". They have tutorials on remixing songs for yourself.

6. Nightcore sucks!

Feel free to dislike the music if you want, but realize that there are others that enjoy the style. So listen to music that you like and leave us alone.

Nice! I think it is good that you keep going with this project.
I want to help you with a song I have mapped a few days ago but i have to wait 2 weeks since i cant upload more than 2 songs D:
Unit 5 - Feel the stars (Nightcore Mix)
I will wait for my other to map to be graveyarded and then upload this song. Btw be prepared cause I am looking forward for Guest diffs :D
