Well I do play full area now but my full area is about 4-6 bamboo tablets depending on what size you own.

I did do this video awhile ago http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f_We1CGh-Wg and that was at 1440x900 (I think), I play on the IPS now which is 1080 no difference. I should try playing with quick point on XD
Nyu_old2
That seems more counterproductive than productive if you ask me ;-; but depends if you're just playing for fun or not.

It was when I first started using the 12x18, I usually ended up playing at 800x600 windowed which reduced the area to something like 7x5in. But now it really doesn't matter I can play at any size and adjust to it within the first few notes. Each to their own I rather use my whole arm and wrist than just my wrist. I tried it both ways and it really makes no difference to me and since I have the tablet area I might as well use it. When you scale up the area so does the game like a slider my slider space is about the size 50 cent piece which from the GUI setting pics thats about what everyones active area is set to so Its kinda hard to fuck that up XD

Mainly I own this tablet for the sole purpose of utilizing my whole arm to do work than my wrist just like you do on a canvas, Not only that the grip pen exploits this by being thick like a brush. Its a sad shame since wacom discontinued the 12x18 tablets with intuos 4's so I have nothing to look forward to when this old piece dies and its bad enough that OSU eats my pens up.

I find it funny that I tell people to play with full area, even though I can't play with it myself because my hand is retarded

what does force proportions do D:
Forces your tablet area to the proportions of your screen (If you have a square screen then the area you choose will be square, widescreen the area will be widescreen.)

Instead of trying to explain it in super detail I can tell you right now you want it on.

One day he shall realize that such a small area doesn't help at all compared to Full.

No way, I never have to move my arm, I've tried full before and I just prefer it smaller. Jumps don't exist anymore!

I can't say that I'm a top tier player, but it has been working for me.

How do you do with the fast note snapping in http://osu.ppy.sh/b/47152? I also play on a pretty small active area aswell (not as small as yours) and it's those kinds of beats you must snap to that wreck me :\

I got used to the hand/wrist movement (maybe that's bad), but practice makes perfect!

I just got my tablet a few days ago, and thought the full area tablet surface was ridiculous and immediately started trying to figure out how to get the tiny box. I started realizing that small circles were going to be a problem and that it was already kinda hard on my wrist for the tiny movements. It felt just like mouse, which can get kind of erratic and guessy at times. I changed it to full area, and even though I'm still beyond horrible now compared to where I was at with mouse, I can start to tell a difference as to why full is better. It feels like I am going to eventually have way more control and precision once I put more hours in. I can no longer play osu! with mouse even after just two days of playing with full area tablet. The sensitivity on my mouse just feels astronomical, and I miss notes by 2-3 inches on my screen. If you really want to try and improve, I recommend going with the full area like others are preaching here. If you play at full for a few days and go back to the tiny box, you will realize how limited you feel in what you can accomplish.

I just wish this damn pen was easier to hold XD
Anyone have a good grip technique for it? It feels kinda awkward and I can't make up my mind on how to hold it.
Goronica
I just got my tablet yesterday and I tried some different settings and I don't get why you wouldn't use your full tablet. Maybe if you have a very big one it can be a problem.

Full tablet ftw :D I do have a small tablet

Full tablet area is very awesome indeed
Amefuri Koneko
I play this area with my wrist fixed, no lifting up or any hand movements. Only fingers and angle usage :3

Would have played full area if I could reach upleft\upright corners more freely.

So again, why would full area be more beneficial (for anyone other than people trying to fast track it to a sore arm)?

Because if you can be just as accurate with a smaller area, there really isn't any point to using a larger one?

Because you can't.
Also, larger area gives better feedback of your movements, more accurate snapping on small notes and overall more fun and actually less wrist breaking (less grip pressure, more relaxed wrist, NO PAIN!)
Small area doesn't make jumps easier it's a myth, and not really faster enough so it would count for Osu gameplay compared to meduim\full areas in a long run.

I can totally vouch for this, I really wish I started with a full area. I tried switching a few weeks ago but found it really hard with the 10,000+ PC I already have with the small area. Start full before it's too late!

Here's mine:

I also started out with full proportion and eventually shrank it. It took me about a week to get used to what I have now.

I have a history of carpal and RSI, and when i switched to the tiny box area, I quickly started feeling the sharp pains in my wrist. With full tablet surface, I feel very comfortable and even browse desktop with the tablet pen now whenever I can. I can also vouch for better registry as well. I quite like it.

I should just switch to full area already.

uhh... really? I honestly can't agree with the wrist statements. Perhaps it depends on the person, but I've tried using full area or a larger area than what I used to have, and it has been so much more tiring for my wrist, since I have to use it a lot more. And if I try to use my arm instead, that gets quite tiring. With my small area, I have pretty much absolutely no problem playing for hours. The only problem is my left hand failing at streaming. And secondly, larger areas being more fun is completely subjective. It doesn't really make much sense to me anyways, but ok.

Though I will admit that you probably will have more control once you are used to it.

Still, I like my smaller area a lot better
