I would like if 1280 x 1024 resolution was added.

Unfortunately I have no intention of supporting this resolution. I will only support aspect ratios of 4:3 and above (in the widescreen direction).
Even if I did support it, it would be letterboxed. Just run fullscreen and let your graphics drivers do the letterboxing (they should have settings for this).

Oddly enough, that's the native resolution on my other computer's monitor.
It's the most common native resolution for squarish 17"~19" LCD's, so yeah...
